About this property
Relax in Your Own Private Suite in Charleston's James Island!
Whether exploring our beautiful historic city (6mi north) or splashing in the ocean (7mi east), you can’t go wrong with a stay here on James Island, a charming barrier island of Charleston. We've prepared a private space in our pet and smoke-free home which includes one bedroom with a comfy queen bed, a full bath with shower/tub and a cozy TV lounge that offers a breakfast/work table and a coffee station with mini-fridge and microwave. You’ll find your rooms to be immaculately clean & fresh.
Do you prefer the City or the Beach? We’ll take BOTH!
If you’re ready for a stress-free adventure in the “Low Country” of South Carolina you’ve found the right place! Our home is just over the bridge from historic downtown Charleston.
You can easily spend a day or two exploring our beautiful “Holy City”, named for the abundance of church steeples. The average Uber/Lyft fare to get there is just around $10. Bring your walking shoes, because once there, it’s easy to wander in and out of shops, alleys, pubs, gardens, museums and along the historic waterfront. Old Town Charleston is relatively compact, so a car isn’t really necessary. And if you need a break from walking there’s always a pedi-cab ready to carry you to your next destination.
Or…you can head for the ocean and discover Folly Beach, just 7 miles east and approximately $15 for a 20 minute Uber/Lyft ride. Folly is our laid-back coastal beach community, dubbed the “Edge of America” by locals. It is an active beach town with plenty of shops, restaurants and music to keep you entertained, along with a beautiful coastline and plenty of sandy beach for sunning, swimming or walking.
So, you see? Whether you’re looking for a historical, cultural, educational, musical, theatrical or gastronomical adventure or you just want to kick back, build sand castles, splash in the water, eat some great seafood and listen to beach music, you can’t go wrong!
We’re also within a half hour to 45-minute drive from Mt. Pleasant, West Ashley and Johns, Wadmalaw, Seabrook and Kiawah Islands!
Want to kick your relaxation up a notch? Then arrangements can be made for an in-house therapeutic Swedish massage by a Licensed Massage Therapist. Please make this request during our initial communications.
Enter through our front door ~ just like you live here! There are no keys to find or keep track of ~ just your private lock code for the keyless entry. The scent from an aromatherapy diffuser will create your first impression as you enter. Your space is blocked off by sliding, locked doors, and we use an alternate entry when guests are visiting, so you will enjoy a completely private experience.
We strive to create an eco-friendly suite, using natural, chemical-free products for cleaning and laundering. The toothpaste, soaps and shampoo/conditioner provided are chemical-free as well.
You are welcome to sit outside on our front porch and watch the world go by. There are two chairs and a side table for your comfort. The only requirement is that you must wave to our neighbors as they go by walking their doggies…
TV Lounge: Relax and have your morning beverage in our TV lounge. We've stocked the coffee/tea bar with the supplies necessary to make your stay comfy. The Keurig-like coffee maker is quick and hot and “pods” are provided. You’ll find fresh filtered water in the refrigerated Brita pitcher. The microwave allows for quick heat-ups for your drinks or any food you may choose to bring in. Our guests use these items frequently to cook simple meals. There’s also a popcorn popper for those late-night hunger pangs.
We provide you with bottled water, coffee and tea and all the plates, bowls, coffee cups, drinking glasses, silverware, utensils and towels you should need as well as salt, pepper, popcorn, raw sugar, cocoa and local honey.
Grocery stores, gas station markets, liquor stores, Walgreens and plenty of varied restaurants are within 1 to 3 miles for any other vacation cravings.
You’ll have a Samsung 34” flat panel TV in the lounge. We use HD Antennas to pull in our 13 local TV stations and ROKU for many more interesting tv and movie options, along with Netflix. (there’s no cable tv). Wifi 5G is available. And if you want to unplug, we’ve added books and games to the mix ~ there’s even a yoga mat if you feel so inclined!
The sofa in this room folds open to become a twin sized bed. Extra linens, blankets pillows and pillowcases for the sofa are furnished. There’s a breakfast/work table with two dining chairs and an additional side chair for your comfort.
The closet in the TV Lounge can be used for your storage while visiting. There are also folding chairs, a small cooler and a beach bag with bamboo mats, towels and swim noodles for two to relax at Folly Beach during your stay.
We keep the temperature at 71 during the day and 68 at night. Ceiling fans are overhead for added comfort.
The Suite: Your suite consists of the front entryway and hallway, one bedroom with a queen sized bed, a tv lounge with coffee station and couch that folds out to a twin sized bed and a full bathroom with shower/tub. You'll find everything needed for a short or long stay; a perfect oasis for business or pleasure travelers.
You’ll find your rooms to be immaculately clean and fresh. Ours is a pet- and smoke-free home. We’ll also do our best to keep cooking smells to a minimum during your stay.
The Neighborhood: In 1979 our cozy house was built as the model home for this well-established residential community. Our home is a legally permitted short term rental property with off-street parking alongside our driveway. You’ll notice Spanish moss-covered live oaks lining many of the streets along your drive. We expect our guests to be respectful of our home and neighbors and we will enforce the house rules of no parties, amplified music or loud noises and no smoking. Any breach of the house rules will result in a forfeit of your security deposit in full. We live in a safe and quiet neighborhood which is great for morning and evening walks or runs. And if you’re a run/walker we’re in the middle of several beautiful locations for longer treks; the James Island County Park, West Ashley Greenway, Ft. Lamar Heritage Preserve and Sunrise Park…but more on that later… Charleston is a foodie town. It’s difficult to find a bad meal here because there is such intense competition amongst the area restaurants. So eat up! Within 3 miles you can find BBQ, Bagels, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Mexican, Burgers, Seafood and they’re all locally owned, non-chain, yumminess! And if you want to hit the gym after all that food, there’s Golds Gym, O2 Fitness, Pivotal Fitness, Orange Theory and Cross Fit James Island somewhere down the road.
Transportation: Uber and Lyft are everywhere these days and so, available for your vacation needs as well. The average Uber fee from our house to the Charleston International Airport (18mi / 30min) usually runs about $30. A trip to Folly Beach (7mi / 20min) is approximately $15 and to downtown Charleston (6mi / 11min) is just around $10. Uber Eats is also available for food delivery!
Though there are no traditional hop-on, hop-off bus tours in Charleston, they do have a free city trolley called the CARTA DASH Trolley. These travel through the historic part of Charleston, allowing you to to see much of what you would on the other guided tours, though without any commentary. However, if you use their Self-Guided Tour of Historic Charleston during your ride, you’ll never know the difference!
There are 3 different routes that the trolley takes: • Route 210 (Orange) drives from College of Charleston to the Aquarium. • Route 211 (Green) will take you to the waterfront, Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon, and City Market • Route 213 (Purple) connects Brittlebank Park and Riley Stadium to the historic city center.
Each of these routes meet at the Visitors Center, Marion Park and Charleston Museum. Maps are available at each of these locations. You can search Free Tours By Foot for more information.
We've always got our ears perked for new/better/interesting information to offer our guests. There will be maps, brochures, menus, promos and the latest City Paper in your lounge when you arrive.
Please Note: While I typically do not meet my guests, due to my work schedule, I am available via text and quick to respond in an efficient manner to your requests, questions or needs.
We look forward to having you as our guests!

I had a very enjoyable stay at this property. The bedroom was most comfortable, the communication was clear and easy. The den was just enough to break away from the bedroom and unwind. Loved the small kitchenette offerings too. For beach trips, all the sundries are available! Thank you for a wonderful few nights!!
The property was just as described; very clean, well-stocked and perfect for a weekend in Charleston. Good place to stay for James Island or Downton Charleston.
This was a great place to stay while we were in Charleston. We loved being able to come back from long hot days and relax in the suite. Everything was exactly as promised and was better than a hotel and cheaper. If we are back in the Charleston area, we would definitly look to stay here again!
The vrbo had the perfect location between dowtown and the beach. It offered privacy and an easy in/out to wherever you wanted to go. The host thought of every accomodation possible! We would definitely return!
I have never stayed somewhere that was so well stocked with anything you could want for your stay!! Would stay here again without question. Fast response and great communication. Very quiet and comfortable. I felt very safe staying on my own. No kitchen but great station in living room for microwave and coffee with fridge. The brita pitcher was a great touch....no need to buy water. Would definitely recommend for a single or couple just due to the space.
Location was amazing place was clean and tidy Only thing is size a little cramped works great if your on the go most of the time A little cramped if you want down time
The host was so detailed and the house was so clean. The host showed us she was very attentive to our needs. Look forward to staying there again while in Charleston.

Thank you, Mia. You and your partner are exactly the kind of guests every host hopes for! Come back anytime!
Location was perfect distance between Folly beach and historic downtown . Quiet neighborhood . Was nice to have to separate rooms . Would stay again :)
Perfect rental for my daughter and I visiting the College of Charleston! Location was absolutely ideal, only 12 minutes to the college and 11 minutes to Folly Beach (unless there’s traffic). The beds were comfortable, especially the queen bed, the futon did have a little lump, which was made better by the mattress topper. The host provided everything we needed for the beach including chairs, towels and even sunblock. There is no kitchen for cooking, but a nice sized mini fridge and microwave. Very quiet neighborhood which was lovely for evening walks. Host was super responsive to questions. Would definitely stay again!
Miss Hall had everything perfect. We didn’t need anything. The location was very convenient to all of our plans. Neighborhood was quiet. We hope to stay again, soon!
Super clean and tidy home within a home. Just right for a short stay, for one or two people, in the Charleston area. Perfectly close to downtown, Folly and all that the area has to offer. Andrea has everything one could want or need - from beach chairs to (rain) umbrellas. A wonderful place.
Andrea provided a warm and welcoming place. Ample dresser and closet space. Comfortable bed and furnishings with wonderful little touches like a nice selection of k-cups of coffee and tea. She provided a useful binder with local information and a great personal recommendation on a great pizza place! We would stay there again!
