The master bedroom awakens to the warmth of Eastern and Southern exposure, perfect for watching majestic colorful sunrises over Lake Michigan while you snuggle in bed.

While you can enjoy the convenience of a having your own modern kitchen, if you want to leave the cooking to the pros, both fine and casual dining are available nearby in Sheboygan and Kohler and a good local restaurant "Judi's'" in town. Judi's is not open in the evenings so hurry in for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week. The Kohler American Club 5 diamond resort restaurants at Whistling Staits (closed October to May) and Blackwolf Run provide unique atmosphere outstanding food and great views. In Sheboygan make reservations early for a fabulous authentic gourmet Italian meal at upscale Trattoria Stefano.

Enjoy fun for the whole family at Blue Harbor indoor water park in Sheboygan.
Golf at the famous Kohler, Whistling Straits, Blackwolf Run courses, or The Bull, The Bog, and many more!
Pamper yourself at the luxurious Kohler Waters Spa with treatments available for both men and women.
We are hoping the beach will emerge next year. There are glimmers of sand near the water's edge but the water level is still high in 2024. A small beach is available. See Photos. A Marine ladder provides access to the sand and water from the stairs from the deck.
Upscale shopping, antiquing, bike trails, Lake Michigan fishing charters and Road America are all within easy 15-20 minute drives.
Nearby Cedarburg also has first class dining and shopping. Many guests come to stay here for the proximity to Cedarburg and it's wineries.
Mosquito Squad protects you from those pests and ticks this year!

The home has 3 bedrooms (sleeps 6) and two full bathrooms (showers only). It features a rustic knotty pine interior, ceramic tile floors and ceiling fans throughout.

The master bedroom faces the lake and has a king bed and flat screen TV. The second bedroom, with a queen bed, is located on the North side and has a nice view of the lake through the trees. The third bedroom has two twin beds and a view of the backyard and woods. Luxurious touches throughout.

Full A/C is now installed for your comfort with dehumidifier.
Most folks are very comfortable and open the windows at night and close them around noon if it warms up. I have ceiling fans and usually a cool lake breeze keeps guests comfortable.

There is also direct beach access about 10 houses down to put in Kayaks, canoes and Paddle boards at the end of Foster AA public access.
The village just improved the public access area a bit but it is still mostly small uneven flat walk out rock.

As a one level ranch house with are few stairs, the home is accessible to folks who do not walk well, but there are 8 stairs as you walk up to the house from the driveway. There are 3 uneven stairs with railing from the parking area to the walk. Then 5 concrete stairs with a railing from the walkway to the backdoor main entry.

Continuous improvements made since the renovation have only enhanced its appeal as a cozy retreat in any weather in any season. The bedding, linens and furniture have been replaced so they are fresh and new. First time visitors to the area are impressed.
One of the more subtle distinguishing desirable features of this home is that it is located on a tranquil lane. This becomes important for those seeking quiet relaxation. Other Lake front properties are located on smaller narrow lots, have numerous visitors as the ownership may be split between hosts of relatives and guests. Some Lake front houses will have 20 people visiting on a holiday weekend. If you are not familiar with the area it can be disruptive if you select the wrong property that is not suited to your needs.

This home offers the best accommodations for serenity, tranquility and quality time with guests. It may be the closest home to the water's edge, providing easy access for enjoying the lake with family and friends.

Some homes for rent have quite a walk to the water's edge from which also has advantages but can be problematic if watching children or dining near the water.
Many guests return every year so don't wait 'til it's too late.
Come visit the Best Lake House now, eh!

The home is cozy in the winter.
As of May 2024 there is a tiny sand beach starting to form at the bottom of the stairs.
It is difficult to predict the Lake level each year. I hope it will return to normal for the season but have no control over nature's whims. The Army Corps of Engineers tracks and predicts the Lake Michigan level. Their website suggests that the beach will return to its wide expanse for sometime in the future.

In the meantime, if you bring a kayak or paddle board it will enhance your stay. I am unable to provide these items due to insurance restrictions.

Other details:
The lakefront has been comfortable so far for renters during the past 10 years. I now have Mosquito Squad providing control to fight those pests and ticks!
My home is selectively rented to reduce the Covid-19 exposure. We are meticulous in disinfecting. This results in a home with limited exposure to infectious agents.
We have a disinfectant specialist who reviews the property standards and frequently visits the home to be sure it is as safe as possible for your stay.
Our home is fully licensed by the Town of Holland and Inspected and licensed by the County of Sheboygan.
I must advise that the "The rocks in front of the house are dangerous if you try to enter the Lake, they are slippery and can be covered in algae." Also the rocks were recently installed and are still settling so they can be unstable. Stairs are installed as of June 2023, and a ladder allows access to the water and growing beach.
FALL-WINTER
Fall is a wonderful time to stay and enjoy the change of seasons.
Winter is stunning with the dramatic beauty of the lake, sparkling ice and snow.
Fall always brings a stunning collage of foliage color to the area and hiking our three beautiful state parks are a lovely way to take it all in. Kohler-Andre, Harrington Beach, and Kettle Moraine State Parks are all conveniently located.

Winter is stunning with the dramatic beauty of the lake, sparkling ice and snow.
In the winter, you can hike, cross-country ski or mountain bike. A snowboard park is close by for additional snow fun. It claims the largest snow tubing park in the country, Sunburst Ski Park.
WSJ article 9-16-2022
"A home near the water can provide more than just recreation and nice views. Water is also said to have healing powers and the ability to reduce anxiety, ease mental fatigue and rejuvenate weary bodies."
Costs
Some interested renters wonder why the rates may seem expensive. Part of the cost of the lake front homes is the real estate taxes. The taxes are used to maintain the lovely Village of Oostburg and the schools. The average cost for annual real estate taxes can approach $12,000 per year depending on the location. Attentive upgrades and thorough cleaning increases operating costs, but permits the nicest furnishings available.

(Note, reservations marked "Tentative" means that the dates may still be available. A signed paid for contract secures the dates and then they are marked "reserved." "Blocked" indicates planned upgrades or construction to the home that are scheduled but sometimes can be adjusted.) Contact me if you need flexibility in selecting dates. If I am able I can adjust times for your stay.

Lake Michigan Best House
A very cozy & peaceful setting. Beautiful view of Lake Michigan. We spent a lot of time on the deck relaxing & playing games. Located 1 hour or less south of Green Bay & north of Milwaukee. Sheboygan is a gorgeous town 15 minutes north. A little bit of clutter in an older property, but nothing that takes away from the stay. Overall a really good time & super private.

Best vacation EVER!!
This property lives up to its VRBO title of best lake house on lake Michigan. The enormous picture windows allow for breathtaking views from nearly every spot in the house. You can watch that blue/green lake water roll and crash against the rocks while you're watching TV, cooking, enjoying a meal or just standing there dumbfounded by how close you are to that beautiful, ever-changing body of water. The owner is also wonderful to work with. She communicated regularly and was thoughtful enough to stock the home with so many things a renter would need. She truly made it feel like a home away from home, so much so, it was very difficult to leave! The deck outside is also amazing with plenty of comfortable seating for at least 4 adults and if you are brave enough to want to take a swim in the chilly lake Michigan water, there is a ladder that allows easy access to it. The only sounds you'll hear while you're out there are birdsong, crashing waves, and an occasional motor boat--incredibly peaceful. The home is clean, cozy, and Megan left very clear instructions on how to use the TV, the Roku, the washer/dryer, etc. The location of the house makes it seem as if you are miles away from everything, but in reality, you're just a short drive away from the very pretty, exceptionally clean little town of Oostburg and Sheboygan and Elkhart Lake are only about 20 minutes down the road as well. Our only complaint was that we had to go home after just one week! We cannot wait to return!

Wonderful, relaxing house
We spent 5 days there in July 2023. The house is very well equipped with linens, towels, cookware, and pantry staples (very much appreciated for this couple who love to cook). The view is amazing and deck setup is wonderful. We had the windows open the entire time to hear the waves. We would definitely come back. Thank for sharing this place with us!

The very best Lake Michigan retreat
Quiet, secluded, and peaceful. Went to sleep with the windows open, listening to the sound of waves. We stayed 3 weeks, felt at home right away. The home is set up for long term stays. The host is very thoughtful and hands on. Would 100% go back again! ❤️

I grew up in different parts of Michigan and Illinois so the connection to the small farming town of Oostburg is special for me. It affords a much-needed respite from the stress of everyday. Life can be hectic and I am certain to feel relaxed as soon as I pull into the tree-lined drive. I enjoy the peaceful comfort of this cozy house with its ever changing, yet always extraordinary views. The charming little neighborhood, delightful Dutch community consistently bring a smile to my face.
I enjoy driving the local country roads and seeing horses, cows, green fields, harvesting of crops. Yet I can also be content whiling away the hours enjoying the antics of different bird species: Seagulls busy themselves feeding in the shallow ripples, Cardinals flit from tree to tree or Canadian honkers, majestic as they fly in tight formation along paths closely adhering to the shoreline, loons and even wild turkeys are visible to the observant.
There is something so calming and soothing about the movement of the waves. Some days glittering and melodic, other days crashing similar to the intensity of the ocean.
I have visited many locations around the US and still find this my favorite retreat in all seasons.
I find it difficult to leave.

Why they chose this property

Quiet peaceful and serene access closest to lake Michigan.
I work extremely hard to be sure my guests have every item available to
them to make their stay as pleasant as possible. A full list of what is provided comes with your welcome letter. My staff and I are responsive to any issue. I attempt to have every amenity you would like so you can relax.
The home provides a chance to “get away from it all,” spend time indoors or out and create happy memories.
The nature is serene. It brings tranquility and calm to my life.
The attraction of being almost "in" Lake Michigan makes this home truly special. Proximity to the Lake is the best of any property on Cardinal Lane. The waves can be alternately soothing or exhilarating, rivaling those of the widest, deepest oceans, changing in intensity and appearance as often as the wind. Neighboring wildlife come to bathe and sip the cool water. It is quiet and the neighbors respectful.
One of the unexpected joys is walking down our quaint little lane. The dirt road is gorgeous in any season, shaded by a variety of tall trees, walled by a bed of green ferns and backed by a dense thicket of swampy woods that only enhance the feeling of being far away from the urban jungle.
Winter and fall bring a wild beauty that I still enjoy after 25 years of living on Cardinal Ln. The close-knit Cardinal Ln. community is peaceful, lightly populated with lovely neighbors. The home is nature at its best, secluded yet surrounded by peace, comfort and safety.
Only one mile from the home to route 43-highway travel from most locations. Only 2.5 hours from downtown Chicago 45 min. north of Milwaukee.
I enjoy the luxuries of Kohler nearby. The food and environment at the American Club offers fine dining and fun for afternoon tea in the atrium.
I like the town of Oostburg for its simplicity and ease of access to any necessities.

What makes this property unique

Best Lake House has easy access by car and no hassles with lines at check-in or waiting for elevators when all you want is to drop everything and relax.
Unique to this part of Lake Michigan, the area under the water is covered in blond, finely grained sand.
The lake water temperature and quality vary, but at times the it’s crystal clear and sparkles like diamonds in the sun over the smooth soft sandy bottom.
The home provides both family togetherness and “alone time,” depending on your mood. Stargazing on clear nights, warming your weary bones around a crackling fire . . . Entertaining is easy, with snacks and drinks from the kitchen so conveniently accessible to the deck and beach.
Watch a movie or select from our collection of family board games if the weather turns cloudy.
Oostburg has all the basic amenities. Like much of small town America, it closes up early and Sunday. The charming Judi’s Diner for breakfast, lunch or dinner, the most delicious Oostburg Bakery, small supermarket, gas station, library and laundromat are all conveniently located in downtown Oostburg. Familiar big box stores (Costco, Target, etc.) are short drives if you are so inclined. Shopping is less painful in Wisconsin with the 5% Sales tax!
For an abrupt transition from the laid back beach life to high end luxury, visit the American Club in Kohler. Pamper yourself with a treatment at their $11 Million Waters Spa, hit the links on one of their championship golf courses, enjoy a superb meal at one of their many excellent fine dining restaurants or browse their exclusive WoodLake Shops for unique treasures. Check with the American Club for Spa or golf packages and availability and review their calendar of special events. They offer entertainment usually every weekend that can be joined with a bit of advance planning.
Elkhart Lake racing and dining are within 30 minutes.
Cedarburg is 45 minutes away. It is wonderful.
