Welcome to Captain Bill's Guest House at Cagels Mill Lake (aka Cataract Lake)! This gorgeous home offers modern amenities in a countryside setting. Perfect for hikers, bikers, boaters, fishermen and anyone looking to unplug and enjoy lake life or just breath the country air. This two-story home is newly remodeled with modern decor and an updated fully-stocked kitchen. You will love the open concept and natural night, along with your very own private balcony. This is one of the areas best finds!

We're located seconds from the boat ramp and a short drive to scenic Cataract Falls and Lieber State Recreation Area. Boat parking is available and easily accessible on the property. For those of you who want a motorcycle adventure, the house is centrally located around some of the best country riding roads in the state. Garage parking is permitted for motorcycles.

Next to Captain Bill's guest house is Captain Bill's main home. Depending on the time of year, guests are welcome to our pool. The pool is in a private setting but open and available to myself and invited guests. Depending on when you go you may have the entire pool area to yourself or shared with Captain Bill and friends.

Lovely and relaxing

Really enjoyed our stay here, The hosts were wonderful and helpful. The place was perfect for the two of us and the surrounding area was beautiful. Interesting places to see were the Cataract Falls State Recreation Area, the Owen Valley Winery, and several good diners near by.

Indiana family

Perfect location close to our Indiana family for visiting grandkids with the pool access as an extra perk. Captain Bill and First Mate Becky are very welcoming and gracious hosts. Loved the nautical theme and size of the garage upstairs apartment, although there's a noticeable musty smell and signs of some water damage on the ceiling kitchen area; the patio furniture appeared to have never been cleaned yet this summer, otherwise would have given a 5.

In 1987 I had the good fortune of playing in the Pan American Games held in Indianapolis. It was that tournament that qualified my team to compete In the 1988 Olympic Games in the sport of Team Handball. I wrote in my diary the day before leaving Indianapolis that I felt as if I would live in this city someday. So here I am, since 1989. Love it!!!

After settling in Indy, and starting a couple of businesses, I purchased the large lakehouse adjacent to Guest Lodge, where you can find me most weekends. For years, I've made memories with family and friends on Cataract Lake and the area has become my second home. You'll find me at the lake, on my motorcycle, or enjoying my backyard and home most the time. I love hosting guests and making new friends so feel free to say HI!

Why they chose this property

My vacation weekend home is adjacent to this property. I thought it would be an excellent property for my friends when they visited. Turns out I have more properties than friends. Well... not really, but it was so well received that I decided to extend the invite to others that might be interested in the area. It is a charming property that you can see for yourself in the pictures. It is what it is and what you make of it. I enjoy having people stay and create memories of their own and whatever I can do to make it just a little more special, I will do it. This property and the location is more than just a cabin by the lake. It's an experience.
