Chateau du Val Hebert was built by Hébert on his family's property in 1784, 5 years before the French Revolution.-by the Abbé Hébert, retired priest of a noble family from Falaise. It is divided into two parts, one of which includes the accommodation and full enjoyment of the property. The ground floor (80M2) gives a majestic dining hall with 3. 50 meter high timbered ceilings and the original Falaise- made fireplace. A wide, tall kitchen with all modern conveniences and equipment. A little bathroom is conveniently situated on this floor, along with an office and library equipped with WiFi. The first floor is reached by the original staircase and is situated above the hall. It is a very large lounge area (80M2) with all modern conveniences, sofas, armchairs, TV, movie-projector, DVD players and second diner , from sunrise to moonrise, it is a pleasure to be present and / or meditate in a quiet atmosphere conducive to peace and well-being, in sunlight, starlight, moonlight or mist. On the same floor, this bedroom has a queen-size bed and has private bathroom ensuite. The gardens stretch down to the stream and the fields and where perfect privacy and quiet can be ensured and enjoyed. The long summer evenings spent on the local food markets and markets. This is a coming for any season- the magical winters, light your own fires easily for a cozy autumnal evening in the wood burners. Enjoy the peace in retreat from the noise and rush of everyday life. History is on your doorstep: Cliff, (under 1O miles away) is the birthplace of William the Conqueror, and Caen (under 20 miles away) where his Ducal Castle was built. St Pierre sur Dives is the nearest shopping venue, and boasts a medieval market every Monday morning and an outstanding Basilica which dominates the beautiful countryside and was an ancient place of the Kings of France coronation. Every castle and church in every village in Normandy has its tale to tell. The sea-side is also near: The Cote de Nacre is famous for its family beaches and the chic Deauville-Trouville for jet-setters are both underway for those days when you'd like to swim. Historically nearer our time, the Normandy Landing beaches, soon to be classified as a UNESCO Heritage site are an hour's drive away, as are the famous Mont St Michel, the Bayeux Tapestry, and nearest is the Chateau de Falaise. Paris is a 3 hour drive from Monet's house and gardens in Giverny is 2 hours.
