About this property

The Golfing Gecko, Quiet Enjoyment of the Sonoran Desert and Amazing Sunsets.

Take a break and relax for a few days or more, with wonderful scenery and sunsets. Enjoy scenic hikes, bird watching, ride bikes from your front door, tour the neighborhood in our golf cart or play golf on two of the most well-manicured courses in Tucson, all while practicing social distancing.

Welcome to The Golfing Gecko, our listing on the Sonoran Course at Omni Tucson National. Remodeled in late 2019, “The Gecko” has open views across the fairway and amazing desert sunsets. From the open floor plan kitchen, dining room, living room or extended covered patio, you can enjoy all the sights and sounds and tranquility a desert golf course has to offer.

Take a quick look at the amazing reviews we’ve accumulated during our first couple years. Guest comments are certainly your best source for evaluating a property and you’ll be hard pressed to find higher compliments than The Gecko has received.

Before going any further, I need to express that our location is perfect for enjoying the quiet surroundings. In fact, it is not suitable for gatherings, loud music or loud commotions on the patio. Our outdoor area is open to the golf course and properties across the fairway, plus our immediate neighbors. Sounds travel freely and we ask that you 'blend in' with our peaceful and quiet environment. With regards to this, I have more specific information to send if you are considering making a reservation. My “Quiet Enjoyment” letter is meant to assure compatibility between guests’ and owners’ expectations.

The grounds at Tucson National are separated from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding city. As you enter the area, you drop down into a valley created by the Canada del Oro drainage. There is no thru traffic, allowing for the quiet and peacefulness of a desert golf community oasis. When you exit, every direction will take you to the sights, activities and attractions of Tucson, Oro Valley and places beyond.

Our single level townhome is over 1440 Sq. Ft., with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a den, laundry room and a fabulous open kitchen to the living and dining rooms, plus bar seating. The spacious covered patio gives you the option of enjoying our location from both indoors and out.

Our goal is to provide you with most everything you’ll need for a comfortable stay. Upon arrival, we invite you to snoop around and survey what is typically available for your use. Cooking essentials, herbs and spices, paper products, soaps and hair products, laundry essentials, golf cart and three bicycles are there for you.

Feel free to grab a few of the experienced golf balls we keep on hand. Some areas around the desert courses are like golf ball magnets and trying to retrieve them can be challenging. Let’s just say you could get yourself into a prickly situation!

Take a stroll or grab the bikes and conveniently access The Loop trail system. The paved pathway is over 100 miles of “protected from traffic” pedestrian and cycling routes.

Amazing property
This condo is awesome! Rick was very responsive and communicative. The property is very well stocked. More than any place that we have stayed. The location is very close to a lot of restaurants. And the location on the golf course is also great! If I could give Rick a 10 rating, I would. We will definitely try to stay here again the next time we visit Tucson!

We are Arizona natives and spent most of our lives in the Sonoran Desert. We love the mild Winters, life awakening Spring rains, Summer monsoons and the Autumn reprieve from high temperatures.

We are seasoned travelers and have a good perspective as to what makes a wonderfully comfortable stay for our guests. If we haven’t thought of it or don’t have it, we welcome your input.

Golfing, biking and many other outdoor activities have always played a large part of our family’s life. Our kids and our grandkids love to visit here. They are safe in our neighborhood, amazed at the wildlife diversity and of course, absolutely love the pool !

Why they chose this property

While raising our children nearby, we regularly played the Tucson National courses. It was always amazing to be in the midst of a bustling city, yet feel we were away in a secluded place.

What makes this property unique

Open views, quiet neighborhood, clean, comfy, and arguably the largest selection of included goods and supplies you’ll find in any vacation rental. Our reviews will tell you most everything you’d want to know. Try it, you’ll like it, I promise!
