My family and I had a great time! Everything was very clean and well kept. The Host is very responsive to texts! This location will definitely be on our list for 2026!
We had a great time fishing off the dock and watching the sunsets in the evening. Beautiful location. The cabin was great and check in process was smooth. Neighbors were friendly. Quiet and relaxing location.
Thank you for choosing us for your vacation Joy! We appreciate you treating the facility as if it was your own and being a great guest. We’d love to have the honor of hosting you again!
The house is cute and updated. The view of the beach is beautiful, can be seen from the living room window and master bedroom. Just steps away from the sand, water and restaurant. With the restaurant next door, it is surprisingly very quiet. We really love it here and will definitely book again!

Very weedy for kids swimming and the managers did not replace the empty propane tank. Next door partygoers and bar attendees freely walk through the yard at any time. House was updated and clean. Will be finding a different place in the future.
Updated, clean cabin on the best lake in the area. The beds were extremely comfortable. The kitchen was very, very well stocked with everything I needed to cook a fish dinner. The cabin was truly lovely. We also loved having rented the pontoon, as well, and recommend that you inquire about doing so.
The one small disappointment for me was the beach. Not quite “sugar sand,” due to the incredible number of snail shells and copious weeds. I did not swim off the shore. However, having grown up on this lake, I realize the overgrowth of weeds is a relatively new phenomenon related to recent mild winters and heavy spring rain. I also realize that this is not within the control of the owners of the property. I mention this only because it would have been nice to know ahead of our trip to avoid the disappointment. Hopefully this overgrowth will improve with a cold winter, and we can come back to enjoy the beach!
Over all, a great long weekend. We strongly recommend the cabin and hope to come back!

Amy, we think you’re spot on with your review. Beach conditions have been challenging this year in many area lakes and we will look into altering our listing to reflect that. We’re sorry for the experience and will pray for a more traditional winter to balance things out. Thank you for your comments - we enjoyed hosting you! - Josh
First off, we would definitely stay here again and it will be on our list of options for 2026. There are a few things to consider for your potential stay. I rated cleanliness a 4 out of 5 for the following reasons. The oven has not been cleaned in some time and there was a cookie sheets in there that appeared to have been used and not washed. While there is a grill, I would not use it as the grates are very rusted and dirty. Vent fan in the bathroom had a half inch of dust hanging from it, a long with some cob webs around the cabin. It appeared that we may have been the 1st renters in a while. Again, these were not big issues for us and we would rent again. If you are bringing a boat, know that the dock is short and the water is shallow. We had just enough water to float the boat when tied up. The dock could use another section added.Others have noted that the cabin is next to a restaurant and people tend to walk from cabins down the beach to the restaurant. This happened while we were there, but for us a non issue. Just know it will likely happen if this is a concern for you. As a side note, the restaurant has new owners that are investing heavily in the property. All newly remodeled inside with a big new deck lakeside and kids jungle gym. We stayed 2 weeks and had a great time fishing and enjoying the Detroit Lakes area.
The property would be great for all sorts of families but was particularly ideal for small children (we have a 2 and 4 year old). There is a playground right off the deck and there is a good 30 yards before a child could reach the water. This setup made it ideal for allowing the kids to play and also allowed the parents the ability to take a break without worrying about them getting into something they shouldn’t.
The master bedroom is great as well allowing parents time to sit-up and talk after kids have been put to bed. Kitchen was also fully stocked making meal prep very easy.
Finally I would recommend renting the pontoon. The lake is beautiful and the island just out from the cabin is fun to look around.
This property is awesome! We rented the cabin for several weeks and loved it. The beach is fantastic, the cabin is comfortable and well equipped, and the owners are very responsive. Having Curly’s next door was convenient when we didn’t want to cook and we found lots to do in the area when not on the water. The size of Cotton Lake is ideal for boating. Definitely recommend this cabin!
