This was my highlight of my 14 day road trip.The home and setting was amazing. Perfect location and the hosts Charlie and Rob were like life time friends, who we just met. If your in the Charleston area this is a must stay.
Perfect home base for getting around the Charleston area, just far enough from the downtown fray yet only a few miles in for when you want that downtown vibe. Spacious and clean upstairs unit with plenty of privacy, easy parking and easy access through the park-like yard. Good size bathroom with extra towels. Very large bedroom. Charlie and Rob are the warmest of hosts and super responsive. Great stay!
This is a top notch stay! Accommodations are the perfect blend of comfort, class, and elegance. The grounds are simply stunning. The hosts may be the friendliest we’ve ever met. Parking and ease of access is great, and thoughtful conveniences such as fresh ground coffee and a wine lending library made this one of the best stays ever!

The cottage was very spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. It's a great location for those with a car--close to Downtown and the airport. Our hosts gave us wonderful recommendations on sights to see and restaurants to try. Their back yard is an amazing refuge!
This cottage is outstanding and the grounds are wonderful! The location is great and very convenient to the city. Many key attractions easily within 20 minutes to half hour.
Absolutely beautiful place to stay. Super close to great food and downtown. It was very clean. The hosts were friendly and helpful. I would have loved to spend time in the garden but it rained the whole time we were there. It was a lovely trip.

I would highly recommend this space to anyone visiting Charleston. It was even better than advertised- the space is perfect and private. The location is within reasonable driving distance from everything! Charlie’s backyard is a gorgeous oasis and makes this rental even better.

Loved the property and the owners were very nice. Beautiful garden in the back to enjoy sitting outside, and the house was very modern and homey to stay at. Would stay at again and would definitely recommend.

Between 2016 and 2019, we (Charlie and Rob) re-envisioned and rebuilt every inch of this property, from the studs of the main house to the core of the lush gardens you see today. Our backgrounds couldn't be more different, but they came together perfectly for this renovation. Charlie, a South Carolina native and former City Planner and Real Estate pro, brought an eye for design shaped by years in Miami Beach and Charleston. Rob, originally from Long Island, New York, spent his career as a VA Benefits specialist in Columbia, SC, bringing the precision and heart that makes this place feel like home. We poured ourselves into making this space special. If you want to see just how far we’ve come, take a peek at the 'Before and After' photos in the laundry room—it was quite the journey!"
Why they chose this property
The DuPont Community, where the Cottage is located, is part of what is called "Close-in" West Ashley. It is just across the Ashley River Bridge from Downtown Charleston's Historic Districts, sites, restaurants and shopping. We are five minutes from the Avondale Entertainment District and we're much closer to the Gardens, State and County parks and historic plantations than you would be if you stayed downtown. We have excellent affordable restaurant options nearby. There are five grocery stores within 1.5 miles (including Whole Foods). In addition to the amazing West Ashley Greenway, our neighborhood sidewalks will connect you to a locally-owned compounding pharmacy, hair salon, local bakery and a cool Italian restaurant all within two blocks.
Uber and Lyft both serve our area. Off peak hours are not expensive and you can save yourself the cost and hassle of downtown parking and you can have a cocktail without having to drive home later. Once you're downtown there is also a free shuttle operated by the City of Charleston.
