Summary:
Welcome to Wildflower Cottage~Boat Access!

PROPERTY

Just a 3 minute boat ride from the mainland, and you will arrive at your idyllic family getaway. Wildflower is your classic Muskoka cottage and sits on a little over 2 acres of land, with an enviable 500' of shoreline, spanning over both sides of the peninsula. With southern exposure you will have all day sun on the boathouse deck and main dock ~ a cottager's dream! The main cottage has 5 spacious bedrooms and 2 bath. Plenty of room for the whole family to enjoy. The open concept living room & kitchen is a great place to gather after a fun day on the lake. Pull up a stool at the breakfast bar, or cosy up on one of the living room couches and read a book, while relaxing by the stone fireplace. The separate dining room and screened in porch have fantastic lakefront views. Plenty of seating on the expansive front deck, as well as the main dock, and boathouse deck.

Swimming is excellent with deep water off the dock & boathouse. Boat traffic is limited to people coming to visit. Privacy plus! The swim raft tends to bring out the competitors in the group to see who can get there first. The outdoor shower is always a favourite, and even has hot water!

The light filled boathouse is perfect for those guests who want that extra space and privacy.  With their own bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room, guests can be part of the group fun at the cottage while having their own space to retreat to.  The expansive deck perched over the lake offers a wonderful spot  for a quiet coffee in the morning or drinks with the whole group before dinner.  Listening to the waves lapping gently at night from the boathouse bedroom is a rare treat. Wind down in front of the lakeside firepit ~ who's bringing the s'mores?!

The rental includes two motorboats for your enjoyment. The 22 foot pontoon boat is excellent for cruising on the big lakes, with comfortable seating for up to 11 passengers. The 14 foot Scout runabout accommodates 4 passengers and baggage and is perfect for easy access to and from the landing – or for a quick trip to Bala for ice cream. Also renter will have access to 2 canoes, 2 kayaks, multiple floaties and lounge tubes to help them enjoy the lake.

Family vacation
The siting of the property and the views from it were excellent with a good assortment of water-sports equipment to meet our requirements. The large pontoon boat for a family excursions was throughly enjoyed. Our first impression having the access boat running out of gas 100 meters from the dock and requiring towing was not a good start. The cottage is listed as suitable for 16 people so bed capacity was sufficient, however for boat access cottage and us on one week rental there was insufficient fridge space (one fridge with bottom freezer and bar fridge in the boathouse) to store our supplies, especially since the cottage fridge would not cool adequately requiring use of coolers with ice to store our food. We bought 6 to 8 ice packages/day and still lost about $100 of food. The cottage needs much TLC such as the ceiling fan in the boathouse bedroom inoperable, door handles falling apart, some electrical outlets not working and an ant problem throughout the cottage. Despite these annoying issues the family still enjoyed the one week stay on the water at Wildflower cottage.
