This property is more stunning in person than in the photos. The pool is beautiful and surrounded by a lush garden. The kitchen and living room area is very spacious and comfortable.
Our family of 6 came to stay at this beautiful dwelling, filled with gorgeous decor, a plethora of amenities, and wonderful service. Nothing was lacking in this home. We had a comfortable stay and enjoyed the pool. The hosts were incredibly attentive and provide the most comprehensive book of restaurants, activities, and more that I have ever seen. We would not hesitate to come back again.
We were a family group of 6 adults. We loved the spaciousness and thoughtful details included in the property. The lush courtyard garden is a dream. The kitchen is well equipped and the property is very well maintained. The hosts are very responsive. The best vacation rental experience we have had.
The house is beautiful, comfortable and so functional! Great location, fully stocked, excellent support from both the property manager and owner on any question we had. Waking up to one of the best cups of coffee (complimentary and made with a DeLonghi machine) made way to a good start in crafting great family memories.
Family from Austin, Texas. August 2021
My family and I stayed here for a week during March 2025. The house is stunning. The renovations to this historic property were spot on and the amenities were fantastic. The pool is big enough for a nice game of volleyball and we even eat bananas off of The garden paradise in the back. Communication with the staff was phenomenal and they are super helpful. I highly recommend this place for families. I would get a noise machine installed on your tablet as the street noise can be a bit much. But with that being said earplugs were provided we were able to walk to the main center plaza catch Ubers and even get Uber eats. Highly recommend.
Very pretty garden and pool area! Main bedrooms bed is extremely comfortable ! Very pretty living room and dining area! Love the ambiance and sun light entry! Laundry room access area very convenient .
You will need bug spray in garden area. individual rooms do not have locks . Free WiFi available but was a little unstable after a little storm which is to be expected.
Electricity is charged at end of stay which I feel would be so much more relaxed stay if it was included in total bill.
My family and I had a wonderful stay.

We appreciate the guest taking time to review her stay. Some information is misleading though. We encourage our guests to read the listing description properly before booking. It explicitly states, that electricity is charged seprately. By proceeding with the booking we assume, that the guest acknowledges the T&Cs of the listing. Each room in the House can be locked individually. We therefore ask the guests to maintain communication with us (hosts) to ensure a five star stay at Casa Zunum. We are happy to read that overall her experience was great.
This is an elegant and well-stocked property. Great linens, Jura coffee machine (fabulous!) pre-stocked with a variety of liquors/beers/wines, and small details like bug spray, umbrellas, weight equipment, etc. We were very comfortable. Our hosts were quick to respond to questions and were very helpful. The location is safe and fine, but a little more off the beaten path than we would have preferred. Not a problem, but it was a 10 minute further walk from nearly everything than we wanted. Good news is uber is cheap and quick so even though we love to walk, we eventually just ubered back and forth to avoid the 20 minute walk to most places we wanted to go. But you can't beat the comfort and design of the property. Thank you!
We loved every aspect of our visit! Our plans were a bit in disarray when my husband had to cancel at the last minute because of work, but we were able to backfill with a niece and her boyfriend. It was me (age 55) and three twentysomethings and the house was perfect. There was a note in the booking about the neighborhood noise; the niece in the front bedroom noticed traffic the first night - after that, we spent so much time in the fresh air that sleep came easy.
Our hosts were quick to respond to inquiries both before and during our stay. They thought of everything; even had a few holiday decorations set out during our stay. There was a great binder provided by the hosts which laid out tons of options and things to do; so much useful information we took it with us on each excursion. After eight days we wondered how we didn’t get to spend much time by the pool – the only regret!
As another reviewer mentioned, there is a lot of walking - which worked for us, but their sidewalks aren't smooth (or wide!) so take that into consideration where ever you choose to stay in Merida.
That's the amount of stars I would give if I could.
The House:
The property was tastefully designed and didn't feel like a rental property but also didn't feel like someone's personal home. It was welcoming, comfortable, and tastefully designed. It was a home away from home, but a rental which you never find with rental properties. The beds were so comfortable, the rooms were large and private with lots of natural light from the skylights and large floor to ceiling windows. The pool area was divine, a great way to siesta after walking around all morning and afternoon. Merida is hot (98* in early March) and to be able to come back to a serene and beautiful pool was incredible. The house is fully stocked with coffee, osmosis water filter so you can drink from it's special filtered tap. Washer and dryer available. They also had beer, wine and tequila available for purchase already stocked at the house. They also offer full services like house cleaning, cenote tours, private drivers, private chef, etc. 10000000000000 stars for this!!
The Location:
It is in Centro but expect to walk about 10-15 minutes to park squares like Santa Ana or Santiago. Uber is cheap there so take one if you have limited mobility. I highly recommend visiting Santa Ana to shop and play.
I honestly could go on forever on how wonderful our stay was but I'm limited on characters. What really made our stay memorable were the hosts Elena and Alberto. So kind and attentive, I wish more hosts were like them.
The pictures don’t do the property justice! Beautiful property. The courtyard is magical especially at night. The house was clean and well stocked. The owners were such a pleasure to work with. Very communicative and very responsive. Among the best I’ve ever had to work with. For us the location was fine. Approx. 10-15 minute walk to major points of interest. The walks were safe - even if at times it may not have appeared to be. Mérida is a safe city and once we became comfortable with our surroundings it was perfectly fine. But if you’re not a walker, perhaps a more central location might be better. Again, we never minded the walls and found them to be helpful especially after long meals. I could go on and on about this property and the owners. Truly one of a kind!
