Madison River Retreat with Direct fishing access
This vacation home is kept CLEAN AND SANITARY. Our cleaning crew is instructed to thoroughly disinfect and sanitize all kitchen and bathroom surfaces, as well as frequently touched surfaces such as tabletops, light switches, door knobs etc. Linens and towels are thoroughly washed.
Madison River Retreat is located in the midst of a fisherman's paradise, surrounded by majestic mountains! Right in our front yard, you'll have 200 feet of river frontage on the world-renowned Madison River, ready for your private use. Wade right into its pristine waters, with a backdrop of magnificent mountain peaks, for awesome trout-fishing year-round. The many other nearby fishing and recreation lakes include Hebgen Lake, Henry's Lake, Quake Lake, and the Cliff and Wade Lakes. Plus, the west entrance of Yellowstone National Park, with all its natural wonders, is just a scenic 31-mile drive (35 minutes) away. You are bound to see bald eagles flying over the house or fishing for trout themselves. Mule deer, big horn sheep and elk are often seen grazing in this neighborhood and the surrounding Beaverhead National Forest. Many bird species and a great variety of wildlife flourish in the area.
This home features a great open design perfect for entertaining and spending time with family and friends on your vacation. The kitchen flows into the large comfortable living room where you can then walk out to the large covered porch, to enjoy the views or an outdoor dinner. Enjoy the cozy ambience of the living room fireplace as you plan your days and relax. The master bedroom with king size bed and en suite bath is located on the main floor and has its own door to the porch and riverfront. Upstairs you will find three large bedrooms and another full bathroom. One has a queen bed, while the second has two queen beds, and finally a bedroom with twin beds. There is a full laundry (detergent included) on the main floor, as well as a half bath serving the common area. We provide high quality linens, bedding and towels as well as some basic amenities like bath wash, soaps and paper goods. We also have a pack and play crib and high chair for the young ones, plus a baby gate for the stairs. You will find the kitchen extremely well equipped with everything you need to cook for a crowd, including spices, oils and condiments. This home has all the major appliances you'd expect, plus small appliances such as blender, hand mixer, coffee grinder, toaster and 12-cup coffee maker that takes size 4 Cone filters. We even have kid friendly cups and plates. Enjoy grilling on the back patio with our propane BBQ. At this home you'll feel like you're in your own private oasis, yet you are still less than a 10 minute drive to your nearest restaurant just down the river at the Grizzly Bar and Grill.
This home is in an amazing area where the 3 the states of Montana, Idaho and Wyoming come together. Portions of Yellowstone National Park are in all 3 states. Whether your focus is visiting Yellowstone Park, fishing, kayaking, or area sightseeing, you'll be in a great home base to do it all! You can literally walk out the door to enjoy this wade-only section of the upper Madison River right in front of the home. This river section has great fishing holes and light riffles, with easily waded water. Or you can coordinate a guided float trip with put-in access less than a half mile away. This section of river is currently open to fishing all year round. You will need a Montana fishing license. Please check the fishing regulations and follow the guidelines. The west entrance to Yellowstone Park can be reached in two different ways, and each is only a 35-minute drive. One route will take you past Quake Lake and Hebgen Lake. The other will take you past Henry's Lake. Either way, the scenery is gorgeous and breathtaking, and you'll see wildlife along the route! Other nearby points of interest outside of Yellowstone Park include the Visitor's Center at historic Quake Lake, the old pioneer mining town of Virginia City (with shops that are set up with goods of the time and a miniature railroad to ride into town), Upper and Lower Mesa Falls (with a short but rigorous hike to the brink of the Upper Falls) and Harriman State Park (for fishing on the Henry's Fork of the Snake River, horseback riding, and easy walking trails). Cliff and Wade lakes are quiet jewel-like mountain lakes that are only 10 miles from this home, with docks and crystal clear blue water that is great for swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing. In 20 minutes you can zip into Island Park, ID for many attractions like golfing, the Big Springs, Henry's Lake and hundreds of miles of ATV and snowmobile trails. (ATVs, kayaks and snowmobiles can be rented in Island Park.) Henry's Lake is home to the Idaho state record winning trout and offers amazing fishing and recreation. Island Park has small grocery stores and many good restaurants. West Yellowstone, MT is a sizeable town at the west entrance of Yellowstone Park. It has 2 large grocery stores, many nice shops and restaurants, a zip-line, an IMAX movie theatre, and the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center, with captive animals displayed safely in a natural habitat. The historic town of Ennis, MT is just 40 minutes away to the northwest of this home. Here you can find many great restaurants, bars and shops. Be sure to stop in on your way to Virginia City (about 15 miles west of Ennis).
A note about your choices of vehicle and clothing: While this home is very easily accessible from 2 major two-lane highways (87 and 287), remember that you are visiting the Rocky Mountains. The driveway and short gravel access road to the house will be plowed of snow and are graded regularly, but we do recommend choosing a rental car appropriate for the season, weather and terrain in Montana. A 2WD vehicle will be fine most of the time, but 4WD and AWD vehicles are recommended during the snowy season which can begin as early as September all the way through June. Please be sure to check weather forecasts regularly. Weather in the mountains can be very dynamic and change quickly. People joke about experiencing all 4 seasons in one day once in a while. Keep various clothing layers and rain jackets handy while you are enjoying your outdoor activities, so you can always be safe and comfortable.
Please visit the Yellowstone National Park website to stay abreast of any temporary or seasonal road closures in the Park, and to take advantage of all the detailed info there about the many amazing park attractions, plus videos and helpful trip planning guides.

Caroline was awesome, the cabin was awesome, and the time we had was awesome. This was our 2nd time staying at this cabin and plan on doing it again next yr.
Highly recommend this home. The view from the back porch is worth the stay alone. The home is well stocked with all the needed kitchen essentials.Great home for kids of adult friends trip.
This house was a great choice for our fly fishing trip. The location and views are amazing, and the house was very clean, well-stocked, comfortable, and spacious. The owner was very responsive and everything from check-in to check-out was smooth.
Two adult couples traveling to Yellowstone for the first time. Booked because the men like to fly fish. Awesome shop nearby with a well known expert. Cabin was well equipped, spacious, beautiful and comfortable. Location can’t be beat. Views and river were outstanding. Just a wonderful spot. We loved it!
The house was well appointed with all the necessities for cooking and enjoying a week on the Madison River. The view out the back door is tough to beat and the quiet area made for a peaceful stay.
We loved this property and view around the property, the house was very clean and hygienic. Owners have done great job of maintaining. We highly recommend this place.
The location and property were amazing. The kitchen had everything we needed to have family meals. The decription of the proprry was stop on. We had an amazing trip.
This house and its location are truly something special. Every window framed a beautiful view. Even the high bathroom window in the master ensuite, where I found myself pausing to watch the different kinds of birds resting on the wire outside. It felt like the whole world was far, far away, giving us a deep sense of peace and seclusion, and yet West Yellowstone was only a short 30-minute drive when we needed it. The best memories for me are of the early mornings, sipping coffee in front of the fireplace while the first light touched the mountains. The home was comfortable and well-equipped. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for both beauty and tranquility.
We had the best time! Stocked with all the amenities you’d need! We saw so many animals! Woke up one morning to 2 deer just hanging out front so amazing! Caroline was so helpful and an amazing host! We cannot wait to go back
This home is the next thing to a paradise. Very clean, very well organized and stocked up kitchen. The river flowing through the backyard makes this property extra special. Thanks to the owner for letting us stay in this wonderful home.
Our family had a wonderful stay in this beautiful home. We enjoyed the beautiful views of the mountains and the river. The house was comfortable and clean. We had everything we needed for our stay and more. My husband and I enjoyed coffee on the porch daily. This was our first time to the area and we were extremely pleased.
Relaxing place to stay, has everything we were looking for to get away from busy work schedules.
Fishing right out the back door, close to Yellowstone NP. Island Park Idaho, Ennis and West Yellowstone Montana are just a short drive away. Lots to do and see, not enough time.
We would love to come again.
Great place!

We can't wait for your return! I'll admit there's not much better than falling asleep to the sound of the Madison river!
We had a great stay during our week on the Madison. The home had wonderful views, comfortable furnishings and plenty of space for our group of 5 adults. Lots of opportunities for fishing and wildlife viewing. We saw bald eagles, ospreys, a family of mergansers, and a herd of antelope from our windows. Highly recommend!
This was the perfect family getaway we were seeking as a family from south Florida. Even though Yellowstone closed - which was the reason we came - we found so many other day trips and amazing places to explore. My sons were thrilled to fly fish in the river right out back. We visited Earthquake Lake, Cliff and Wade Lakes, Big Sky, Bozeman, and hiked everyday. The house is clean and well stocked including bear spray which we always took for our hikes. The views are beautiful - we did not want to leave!
We had THE BEST time! We packed as much into our Montana adventure as possible...horseback riding, rodeo, day trip to Yellowstone, lunch in Big Sky, whitewater rafting, campfires, star-gazing and, of course, lots and lots of fly fishing. Our teenagers opted for card games and puzzling which was such a reprieve for all of us. Many great talks and laughs were had - can't wait to go back!

We have been enjoying the Madison River and surrounding area for decades as avid fly fishermen and finally had the opportunity to make a piece of it our own. We spend summer free time floating and fly fishing the rivers and lakes, hiking in the mountains and exploring the area with our three small boys. Having a home we love that we can share with others is amazingly rewarding for us. As Bozeman locals, it's easy to forget what a special place we live in. Sharing it with others is a great reminder of how unique the Montana way of life can be. This is not our first dip into vacation rentals though. We own another home in Island Park, Idaho, #114553 just a short drive from Yellowstone's West entrance and another along the Yellowstone River in Pray, Montana #1439041. We have learned from our other homes what it takes to make a truly amazing experience. The house is outfitted as if it were our own residence. We like our guests to find every amenity required to flow through their daily tasks and not struggle with the unfamiliar in a new home. We hope you find our house to be welcoming and accommodating to your needs.
Why they chose this property
When we first saw this property, we immediately saw a property that we could call home someday. The peaceful surroundings draw you in. The layout lends itself to entertaining with friends and just relaxing. There's enough space to spread out while retaining a cozy atmosphere. This stretch of the Madison River is renowned for some of the best spring and fall fishing in the State. And the fact that you can just walk out the door to a private stretch is beyond amazing. All this tranquility, yet a quick drive to Ennis, West Yellowstone or Island Park for anything you could need. We hope people enjoy the area as much as we do.
What makes this property unique
Close proximity to the Park as well as an easy drive to lakes, rivers and mountains makes this the perfect location for a vacation. Your home base is centrally located to numerous activities while still being secluded.
