Nestled among the mountains and trees is “Grin and Bear It”, a lovely chalet overlooking Gatlinburg. With a completely secluded deck with hot tub and gorgeous views overlooking Ober Mountain, most every window has a view to enjoy.

The chalet is in a resort community and maintains that highly sought after "tucked away" and private feel.
It is conveniently only 15 minutes from downtown Gatlinburg.

*Note, if booking January and February, we require you bring snow chains (just in case). Although it doesn't snow every day, it does snow during these months and you will need these to get up the mountain roads if it is snowy.

If you are looking for seclusion, this is your place. You can’t see any cabins close while sitting on the deck or hot tub. The place was very clean and spacious. Adria made the check in process easy and was prompt with responses while visiting. Be prepared that there are a lot of curves getting up to the mountain chalet. I would recommend coming in the daylight the first day. Definitely follow the instructions for the trash and do not leave food in the car. We hadn’t seen a bear the whole trip, but once we were packing up leaving, the bear came to check things out. We were very pleased with our stay and would definitely come back.

Big Grins and Bears

Charming Chalet! Extremely clean and inviting with lots of little extras to make you feel very well cared for. We saw at least 1 bear daily- on our last day we saw three cubs and their mama. Communication with Adrina is outstanding and the view at night will not disappoint. The beds and linens are very comfy and the hot tub was wonderful. Thank you Adrina for sharing your chaket with us.

Overall good

Property was clean and provided everything needed for a comfortable stay. Only downside was the hot tub cover was difficult to put back on due limited space and it being strapped down entirely on one side Pool table not really usable due to space around it.

Exactly what we needed

I cannot say 1 thing negative about this place! Everything was absolutly perfect! Its quiet, secluded, has gorgeous views, and the chalet itself is beautiful!! It was well worth travelling the curvy roads to get there. Side note...always lock your car doors because those Gatlinburg bears are smart and they do know how to open car doors!!! at

We enjoyed our stay in this private location. The hot tub was the best part. There were a lot of windows for natural light. The cabin was clean. The driveway was steep but we managed in a RAV4 without issues. The music from Ober Gatlinburg played loudly all day but after 7:00 we were able to enjoy the quietness outside. Not much of a mountain view but you can see the Gatlinburg Summit condos and Ober Gatlinburg. The view of their lights at night was peaceful.

Excellent Place To Stay

We had a great weekend at the chalet. Adrina and her husband were very helpful and stayed in constant contact to make sure everything was good. This is a great place to stay and just get away for a few nights. The drive up the first time was a little scary, but after that first trip, it was pretty simple. The chalet was well equipped with everything needed for the stay. We will definitely be staying here again. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in the mountains, I would highly recommend this chalet.

Best Little Getaway!

My husband and I chose this property for a little romantic getaway and we’re so glad we did. It was in a location that was nestled against the mountain and very private, which we wanted. The cabin was clean and well maintained to our standards. It had all the right amenities. And the bed was so comfortable! We even had a bear sighting, but we never felt unsafe!! Would definitely stay here again. Thank you Adrina for having us!

Beautiful, Remote Cabin in the Mountains

We enjoyed our stay! The drive up to the cabin was an adventure, but the hosts gave us great tips to find the cabin. We saw a family of bears on our drive to the cabin which was a highlight of the trip. The location is great for hiking and sightseeing in the park and visiting Gatlinburg for dinner and drinks. The cabin had everything we needed and very comfortable for 2 couples. Very quiet area. We enjoyed the upper deck and hot tub. Our only comment was the bed was very squeaky and probably just needs to tighten up some screws. We will be back. Hosts were great and very responsive to our questions!

Amazing!!

We went for our 25TH wedding anniversary. This is the same challet we stayed at for our honeymoon. It is very private and spacious. I couldn't have been happier to see that it was still there and kept up so well. Everything we needed was already there. We even had a mama bear and her cubs stop by at the end of the drive. Adrina is one of the best hosts I have come across since using Vrbo. I only gave it 5 stars because that's as high as the scale goes. 5+++ stars.

Wonderful spot!

This was a great place to stay. Beautiful, clean, private. Nice little kitchen, comfy bed, clean hot tub, checked all my boxes... Only cons are very steep driveway, could only make it up with 4x4 when the snow melted. Also the pool table (its real nice with beautiful new felt) is cramped in the corner, needed to use the little stick on three sides. We had fun with it but it was weird using the small stick, we had brought our own sticks to play some matches together but we "grinned and beared it" (if you move the table, there is a 150 dollar leveling fee.) That said, we really liked this romantic spot, would recommemd.

Terrifying drive to get to the property

The drive to the property is on VERY narrow and extremely winding roads straight up a mountain and many hairpin turns to reach the property. Driving up the mountain to the property we could only see the hood of our truck many times due to the steepness. Not safe to drive it unless you are a local and very familiar with the area. The property description never said anything until after booking and then only said if you are there in Jan and Feb you are required to have chains. That information does not automatically translate to terrifying drive all year. We had to leave after the first night due to the danger reaching the property. We paid for two nights and have requested half our money be refunded by the owner. She declined so we have escalated the matter.

The drive up the mountain was fine until you came across other drivers who didn't want to share the one lane road. They did explain that the driveway was steep just not a 21° incline that you ABSOLUTELY NEED 4x4 to get up. They did say that is was possible to see bears with being in the mountain HOWEVER.... not that less than 20yards from the outside grill theres a bears den on the property with a momma bear and cubs. When we got there we did a 5-10min walk through just to make sure everything was ok only to come out to our jeep being rummaged by two bears. Thank goodness we didn't go to the store yet and they only got a bag of chip. We were only at the cabin a total of 1hr on a 4day trip an my wife was so freaked out from the whole experience that she didn't want to stay so we contacted the property owners an explained what happened ( they have full video of the whole thing ) I asked if we could get a partial refund since we wouldn't be staying in the cabin at all because of what happened and they basically told me to pound sand. Its just sad that i paid so much to stay here only for my jeep to be detroyed by a bear and to never even stay in the cabin. I understand not getting a full refund but I feel they should be responsible for a partial refund for not diclosing the BEAR DEN on property

This property was just what my husband an i were looking for to spend our anniversary. Everything was as described and the bed is SO COMFORTABLE! Cute little touches throughout. Hot tub was very relaxing and private which I really appreciate. We also saw multiple bears everyday, it was awesome! The drive up the mountain does have some sharper bends but that’s to be expected! Would stay again for sure!

The cabin was as advertised in the listing. The bed is new and super comfortable with very good sheets and pillows. There was a nice welcome plate with snacks, popcorn, and hot chocolate, which were very nice and all the amenities were as advertised. The air-conditioning and hot tub both worked great. The combination of the AC and the house fans made sure we were totally comfortable at all times.The washer dryer and dishwasher all worked as expected with no issues. The pool table was fun while having coffee in the morning and watching the news.If you want a secluded cabin in the woods that is not too far from town then this place is great for the price.

Great getaway

Overall excellent stay. Very clean, very well kept, excellent communication from the host. Easy to follow instructions for check in check out. Great summery for drive to and from there is some steep mountain roads. All very well taken care of amenities. Highly recommended for a getaway to the mountains with privacy.

Great getaway

This chalet was perfect for me and my husband. Very comfortable seating and bed. The drive up is steep and narrow, I'd recommend making the trip in daylight the first time. Well stocked kitchen area, and we enjoyed playing pool.

Just relaxing in BEAR nature

After reaching the top of a mountain- we reached this quiet little getaway nestled in the woods. There is this big comfy bed- made for a good nights rest. We cooked all our own meals- used the charcoal grill- it was like being at home, except for the bears. We were so excited to see a mamma bear and her cubs in the driveway. They payed no mind to us- it was an awesome experience. ROKU was nice for down time in bedroom and living room. What made my stay- the hot tub on an outdoor deck overlooking the mountains- breathtaking and relaxing. This location is close to everything we wanted to visit in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Host was very gracious and kept us informed of everything we needed for a great stay. Property had everything we needed. I would recommend this property and would stay here again.

Weekend getaway

This place is amazing. If you don’t mind driving up the mountain and some steep hills then this is a perfect getaway for you and your spouse or family. It was about a 10 minute drive to Gatlinburg and you are literally right beside Ober mountain it’s only about a 4-5 minute drive. We did see a few bears right near our cabin but that is expected this time of year in this area so you have to make sure you leave your car doors locked and no trash or food in it or outside unless you put it in the bear proof garbage bin but our host had great Instructions in the cabin on what to do and how to prepare for any bear encounters. Overall this was a great place to get away for me and my wife. I would definitely recommend this cabin and would definitely stay at this location again

Great place. Very comfy and clean.

Great get-away, everything was clean and functioned as it should. Had a nice bear come down the hill and visit while i was having my coffee, i slowly walked back toward porch and observed from front door. Road to chalet can be a little intimidating to someone not familiar with the mountains, drive slow and its just fine. Host made it very clear about the driveway which is steep yet very manageable with a moderate sized vehicle. 5 stars for sure!
