About this property
Birch Bay sunsets beyond IMAGINATION
Semiahmoo Drive meanders along the bank on one of Washington State's most northern borders. The Peace Arch Border Crossing to Canada just 6 miles. Directly On the 49th Parallel . Let me correct that , it is 48.9890*
This home is 3/4-acre, high bank waterfront with a large grassy yard. Front of property offers many other sitting areas for bird watching or just enjoying nature. Lush flower gardens with, 180' westerly water view. This home is 2400 Sq. ft. with another 850 square feet of deck, partially covered. Another deck at the bank is 140 sq.ft., right beneath the Eagles Tree.
Enjoy the sights of Vancouver Island, Point Roberts, Lights of White Rock, The Canadian Cascade Mountain range, the Sunshine Coast, bird watching, and of course the sunsets with the 4 resident Eagles. On The 49th Parallel.
Beach access is at Semiahmoo County Park 3 miles North. This park is a Scenic natural area with beaches, trails & panoramic views, the longest paved walking trails in Whatcom County. Birch Bay State Park 6 miles south, shellfish family BBQ areas, and much more.
Interior is designed with a Pacific Northwest, Native American theme.
Our tap water is very drinkable, supplied from freshwater springs from Mt. Baker.
The great room has a River Rock fireplace, (wood supplied) this room is open to the kitchen, dining, and sitting area.
A Gourmet kitchen with an island for gathering or prepping, a Black Walnut live edge bar for plenty of kitchen seating, dining table for 6-8.
The Tulip room has a queen bed with ample closet space and a large dresser. (sharable with those in Bear Cave/no closet). A bench window seat looks out to the front garden for bird watching and is 6 steps to to the bathroom.
The Africa room has a queen bed and a Childs twin bed. Fun for kids, or quiet office space. The room is stocked with TV toys and books, costumes, musical instruments, toys for kids, of all ages.
The sunroom/Bear Cave has a new queen sleeper sofa(feather bed topper is supplied) & TV, and a Pac Man Arcade Game. A Door to the deck with water, Eagle view! A small room, but it does provide privacy away from the main great room, no closet , room for a luggage rack, but other places clothing can go (Tulip room).
Upstairs a private master retreat, decorated with a beach theme. Large bathroom, double sinks, with a sitting area. Large closets, gas fireplace, private deck, and water view from the King size bed, a Sitting area nice comfy chair, coffee maker fridge and Microwave, no need to hurry downstairs.
The private deck with a topless rail gives a fantastic, Island, mountain Eagle and sunset view! Outdoor furniture, with gas fire pit on the upper deck.
The back of the house is wrapped in 850 sq feet of decking with 3-4 separate sitting areas. The glass rail gives you an unobstructed view from wherever you sit.
Great space for family BBQ
Paradise is what we have been striving for. Come stay at the Bay, enjoy life on the edge at "Sunset Escape", on the 49th Parallel ! We are confident you will come stay again!
A Snif-spot is just 6 miles from the house that has 40 acres of woods and a small stream. Also, a dog sitter

About the host
Hosted by Lorri
Chris Homeowner-
Always wanted a waterfront beach house, yet not ready to retire so this is the next best thing. Enjoying time when I can and letting others enjoy helps make this possible....
House Manager-
Family history in Bed Breakfast industry since the 80s. 35 years in construction, I also like decorating and offering as many amenities as possible in the house.
Why they chose this property
Classic 1991 custom-built home. The Cottage style home was built for a Doctor from Vancouver & his family, for weekend getaways. The property and views are breathtaking. This private little bird sanctuary has 4 resident Eagles, and at times 4 more will visit. ( March 2021 11) Yes wake to the sound of birds, the only thing you will hear.... Hummingbirds that join you at breakfast to flutter & entertain. A hollowed out tree stump provides a cute little fort for the little ones. Another un earthed stump as a garden . Fires from 1600-1900 were huge covering the whole coast line . This documented from some of the first records from Explorers!
What makes this property unique
Beautiful mostly secluded 3/4 acres on the water , high bluff with sunsets over 300 days per year ! 6 minutes to Canada.
