Quietwater Cottage-On Water/Nature/Hiking/Relaxing/ Hot Tub & Sauna, Peaceful!
Rent this nicely furnished cottage to enjoy the beauty of nature on the Wisconsin River and Lake Wisconsin in this rustic, yet cozy river/lake cottage. Beautiful views out the large living room windows look onto green islands, sandbars and the distant Baraboo Hills and the shores of the Wisconsin River as it opens up into Lake WI. Deck with great view of river and hills.
Conveniently located on shallow Lake Wisconsin waterfront with sandbars to wade to. Located between Madison and the Wisconsin Dells, just 1.5 hours from Milw and 3 hours from Chicago.
Bring some firewood (or buy it locally) and have a campfire in the firepit next to the water!
Watch crimson sunsets from the 16' x 25' deck or from a shady grove of maple trees at water's edge. Whether it's the knotty pine walls of the living room and kitchen, the view of sunset over the water from bed, or the wooden twin bunk bed in the second bedroom you’ll always feel cozy and welcome at Quietwater Cottage. You'll enjoy yourselves so much you'll be anxious to come for another visit!
There is so much for your family to see, so much to do year round in the area!
SPRING, SUMMER, FALL & WINTER Adventures! Green trees, sunny sand-bars, and a lazy river await you. Tucked off the main channel the cottage has the best of both worlds…easy assess to the big water, a great view of the water and sunsets, but little boat traffic. Because of our shallow waterfront location, the choice is yours, launch your boat at one of 3 nearby boat launchs and head left for Lake Wisconsin or go right for the Wisconsin River. You’ve got it all right here! You can launch your boat daily and spend an exciting day on the open water of the lake (too shallow to get a boat of any size into our channel but you can park your trailer in front at the end of the day) or a quiet day exploring the Dells-like bluffs and the nearby islands, coves, and backwaters in your canoe or kayak. The shallow water in front is perfect for kayaks and canoes. Explore the many channels, sandbars, and islands of the WI River and Lake WI. Relax with friends or family on the deck after a day canoeing or kayaking around the sandy tree-covered islands.
Enjoy shallow water fishing from the sandbar in front, from our canoe, or use a boat to hit several of the best local fishing spots all within 5 minutes of the cottage: The Narrows, Fockes Bluffs, Tipperary Bluffs, and Camp Rest Park. Good fishing for Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, White Bass, Catfish, Largemouth, Crappie and more.
The cottage has a green lawn for yard games or for kids to run around in, plus just a block away is a park with playground equipment and wading beach, perfect for small children and dogs. Tennis and basketball courts are just a mile up the road. Bike riding opportunities on winding country roads in the area are fantastic. Up for a challenge? Circle Lake Wisconsin on your bike, it's about a 50-60 mile trip with a free ferryboat crossing as a highlight!
This two bedroom, one bathroom house has a small but full kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with most anything you’ll need to prepare any meal you like…or grill out on waterside deck on the gas grill! Feeling lazy? Kick back and enjoy the 46” flat screen LCD HDTV....relax on the deck, sip a drink, even surf the web, and watch the river go by!
Beautiful views out the large living room windows and across the 16’x25’ deck look onto green, sandy islands and the undeveloped distant shores of the Wisconsin River as it opens up into Lake Wisconsin.
FALL & WINTER FUN! After the summer crowds leave you’ll find unique beauty and tranquility on the river. Tucked in among the surrounding bluffs and hillsides you’ll find gorgeous fall colors and dazzling winter scenery. Hundreds of wooded acres across the street are home to the Red Bellied Woodpecker, Wild Turkey, and White Tailed Deer, while the ever-changing river offers views of Sandhill Cranes, Bald Eagles, Beaver, and Muskrat. Scenic drives in all directions make interesting day trips more fun! Many nearby day-trip possibilities including the Wollensheim Winery, Wisconsin Dells, Devil's Lake State Park, Baraboo Circus World Museum, and so much more. We loved the hot tub, the hammock, and the view! The place was nice and cozy and the perfect place for our family to relax after all the walking we did at the house on the rock and the dells. The beds were comfy, and we had everything we needed.
We had a nice cozy time. The suggestions for nearby places to go were great. We did some fun winter hiking and had a great birthday dinner at the Dorf Haus
Very relaxing cottage to stay in. Water view is beautiful and so many birds to see. Cottage is equipped very nicely with anything you might need. Hope to return when the weather is warm to take the canoe out. Had our first snowfall while were there.
Nice little place with everything we needed. Great yard with a fire pit by the beach. Wonderful view from the deck. We used the hot tub every morning and every evening. Our next stay will be during warmer weather so we can get out on the water.
This is the second time we stayed at the cottage. Peaceful and quite with bars and restaurants nearby. Enjoyed the hot tub and the beach area. Only suggestions...please trim the bushes by the deck. Hard to enjoy the view while sitting at the table.
We had a lovely stay at Quietwater Cottage. The cottage was clean, comfortable and perfectly located. We particularly enjoyed the birds and the hiking recommendations.
This little cottage is perfect for a quiet, peaceful weekend get away! It was just the place we were looking for to come back and relax after skiing at Cascade Mountain.

Great cottage!
Very nice cottage, has everything you need, it was difficult to get around in the boat being on a sandbar, had great fish fry at Anchors at the Lakeside!
Cozy cabin, nestled in the outskirts of Baraboo. Great for the scenery and hiking. A chance to unplug and get away from the big city to spend quality time nature.
This was our second time staying at this property. The outdoor space is great. There is a big deck where we ate all our meals. There was yard space to run around and play. And best of all the river was sandy so it was great to wade into with the little ones. And there was a sandy area where they could play. We used the canoe to paddle around the river as well.
So beautiful, peaceful and tranquil. A little piece of heaven tucked away in paradise. This was the most memorable trip, and literally the perfect beginning to the rest of our lives. Everything about it was just perfect!! We will DEFINITELY book again (if we can even find an ope reservation date!)

We love the outdoors, especially hiking, canoeing, boating, fishing, biking and cross-country skiing! We love to travel all over the world but always feel that the cottage is a fun and relaxing place to call home! Nothing like watching sunset from the hot tub! We come up whenever we can and are happy to share it with out guests as a vacation rental.
Why they chose this property
I've fished this area since I was a boy, always making it up for the White Bass run in May. finally bought a place on the river and have been enjoying it for many years. We love relaxing and continue to be fascinated exploring the Lake Wisconsin area, whether on bike, foot, car, or boat!
What makes this property unique
The natural beauty of the area is astounding. So much less developed than the Dells and some much hillier and varied terrain than Door County. The Lake Wisconsin area is great treasure that you never get tired of!
