George Jones was born in Savannah, and participated in the American Revolutionary War. He was later a member of the Georgia House of Representatives, and Georgia Senate. After his time as Mayor of Savannah, he was appointed judge of the eastern judicial circuit of Georgia in 1804, and served until he became a U.S. Senator. His father, Noble Wimberly Jones was a Georgia Delegate to the Continental Congress. In 1736, Noble Jones obtained a grant for 500 acres of land on the Isle of Hope that would form the core of the famed Wormsloe Plantation.

Parking for this home is on-street and metered, which is enforced by the City of Savannah from Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm. Guests are encouraged to either pre-pay for a parking pass from the Parking Services office, download the convenient ParkSavannah app, or park in a nearby parking garage. Guests will need to be aware of posted Sweep Zones when utilizing street parking.
