Loved how cozy the cabin was. Super thankful for places that let you bring your dog. This place even has the baggie station available in case you did not have any or ran out for your dog. A relaxing place on the lake.
Off the beaten track right on a beautiful lake with nice dock and swimming platform, fire pits and grills for each cabin. Very clean
and comfortable beds. Great getaway!
Clean and comfortable, would stay again, though the service fee’s were high, just another way for the rental agency to get more money from us customers!!
The location is quiet and private. There are 5 cottages and a main house so you have some privacy. The cottages are nice and have all your necessities. The view of the lake is beautiful! We all enjoyed our stay at Elemental on beautiful Shag Lake! Our host George was helpful and communication was perfect!
So pleased with our stay at Shag Lake. The lake is lovely and quiet. The property is quaint and has all the amenities you could want. there is a grocery store nearby if you need it. The manager, George, is responsive and friendly. Wish we could have stayed longer!!
Great little cabin on the lake..we swam boated and fished..staye 4 night had a great time..only downside was the mattress sunk in middle not comfy..but loved everything else
We had a great time. The cabin was clean and a/c worked wonderfully the one day we needed it. Only complaints were the cabin smelled a bit musty and the water smelled like sulfur. Bring your own drinking water and leave the a/c on “dry” and you will have a great place for the price.
Cabin was rustic, older but clean.Had everything we needed for our snowmobiling trip. Only thing was i should have brought a pair of slippers as floors were cold.
This is not a luxury experience. It's clean, it's beautiful outdoors, but there's nowhere comfortable to sit inside or out. Bring your best lawn chair or hammock, and you won't want to budge. Plenty to do all day nearby, and there is a comfortable bed and a shower and shared hot tub. Well water, but again,it's all about the location.
a comfortable bed

Hey Julia, thanks again for coming. We are currently in the process of replacing the older picnic tables and refurnishing the outdoors. I'm sorry to hear you thought our leather couch with a pullout bed was not comfortable enough for you. The property was bought last year and we strive to make each and every guest as cozy and relaxed as possible when staying with here at Elemental Resort. I'm pleased to hear you at least recognized that the beds were comfortable! We hope you will check us out again sometime
There are many things to appreciate about this property; the lovely lake, being able to bring the dogs, the lovely area. There were things that needed attention, small things that made for detailing the place with more charm and needed things. I brought them up to our host George. He was very willing and thoughtful to attend to them.
All and all the property is comfortable. The host is a nice man.
The cabins are rustic - that part is fine. The problem is that they are dirty. Dust bunnies on floor, filthy stained shower and the shower liner was so disgusting we went and bought a new one along with some bleach

Dan and Kerry, I am very upset to hear you thought the cabin was unpleasantly clean. I was in the process of training a new housekeeper and he is told to be aware of things like this. He started out great, and I checked his performance less and less. With a downward slope right around the time you guys came, I had to let him go. I change the shower curtains at least once a week here. The shower floors are bleached and scrubbed between every guest. However, the well water produces sulfur at times which can creates a stained shower floor, that is hard to come off the plastic flooring. Eventually I would like to switch to porcelain and tile, which will help, but I can only do so much at a time. I hope you will come back and check us out again sometime for a much cleaner, and happier stay!
When we arrived there was no bed in the bedroom. They responded quickly with a new mattress and box springs. Picnic table only had one side for seating. Only two towels for 4 days. The general apperance of the cottage area was ok.
All in all an ok visit.

Feel free to refer to our new Facebook page which has a before and after picture of renovations. Not only that but the bathroom was completely redone with a brand new shower and large vanity installed along with an instant hot water heater and a new toilet.
We loved our stay at this lakeside cottage. We used it mostly for a home base but fishing off the dock/boats in the mornings & evenings was lovely. We had an issue with our fridge not being cool the first night, and George bought our ice for our coolers and offered us more coolers of his if needed. Super attentive and kind host! By the morning our fridge was fine and working great. As listed, there’s enough kitchenware for basic things but bc we went a little all out for a few meals we needed to measure things with our hearts and get creative as there wasn’t steak knives or measuring utensils, etc, but otherwise we really did have everything we’d need. Short drive to Marquette & not a bad drive to Munising. Our neighbors were nice. Didn’t use the hot tub but enjoyed the aluminum boats and grill. Would stay again.

I would like to talk to the people that have left great reviews of the is property. We are a group of dirt bike riders and have stayed in many, many cabins throughout the US. Some pretty rough shape, but this place by far was the dirty, old, poorly equipped cabin we have ever stayed at. the sheet and bedding had stains. The pullout couch had black stains on the mattress looked like mold. refrigerator barely cooled enough to keep our food cold. shower had mold in the caulking. All I can say is the cabin was not fit for rental. I generally do not leave reviews, but this one had to be done. Kitchen was from 1960s, stove was dirty, but it worked. no dish soap to wash dishes. I purchased a bottle from the local store. If we could have found another place to stay, we would have left the cabin.

Ah dean . You are such a fool and an arrogant one too. I guess you can’t fix stupid for some people. I’ve had a lot of people stay here , I mean a lot of people . They’ve been coming since 1960s you’re right about that. Kitchen remained the same when we renovated the cottages in 2018 with brand new flooring, ceiling , beds linens , and a completely renovated bathroom that actually did have mold all over the walls. Now, to be fair , around mid summer the caulking in the bottom corners accumulates minor bits of mold which is then removed during off season, however, we’ve been experimenting with different cleaning products and found a solution to being able to clean it properly in between stays. So now that is no longer an issue at all. Now when it comes to the pullout bed, Dean it has a mattress protector on it and you can’t even see the mattress . It’s completely 100% covered and protected and it is opened up and cleaned each time before stays so you are just plain incorrect. Poorly stocked ? It’s got everything you need to cook a meal and serve yourself and your family. Is it stocked with spices and glad bags and stuff like that no. Also, the cottages at the time were mostly cleaned by my wife, Jacquelyn who does a fantastic job with brining detail to every section of the cottages. The linens are changed every time. I honestly think you were just having a bit of a bad day, or maybe you’re just an ignorant as*hole. Either way. Your fridge was set to the lowest setting bud.
You cannot pick a more beautiful spot to vacation in Upper Peninsula. The location is perfect, not too far from Marquette or Ishpeming. The cabins are clean and have had some modern upgrades. And just steps away from Shag Lake which you can just walk down the steps and jump right off the dock and into the clean. Pretty much, . Just Perfect.
