Dramatic Oceanfront House with Pool--Cane Bay Sanctuary

Wake up and fall asleep to the sound of the waves in this private, oceanfront home on the bluff over the Caribbean Sea. This is the perfect place to let it all go and relax completely. De-stress and connect with yourself and the sea like never before. Cane Bay Sanctuary fosters feelings of peace, tranquility and even bliss.

Meander in through the private gate, past the pool and into your beautiful two story, 2 bd, 2 bath private home. In-JOY outside dining on the deck above the waves, or sit at the beautiful kitchen table overlooking the sea. There is an amazing reef right in front of the house that is mesmerizing as the surge from the waves waterfalls down. It's very unique, rare and special for the island.

Both bedrooms are quite large and both are oceanfront with A/C. The living room/kitchen area also has A/C.

The upstairs, primary bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and 2 decks. One deck overlooks the sea with a spectacular view to Hams Bluff, while the other sits above the the fully fenced back yard, looking out towards the road and the lush, green hillside.

The downstairs bedroom is equally as large as the primary with spectacular ocean views and a sitting area on the deck outside the private entry door (off the main deck). The bathroom is a few feet down the hallway.

INTERNET & SMART TV
You can stream Netflix or whatever you like with the high speed Internet on the smart TV, and there is also cable so you can watch local news and not miss your sporting events.

SUSTAINABILITY:
The home is solar powered and collects and uses rain water. Eco-conscious hand soaps, dishwashing soap and laundry soap are provided for you. There is a whole house UV filtration system which provides clean and pure drinking and showering water. Feel free to use the 4, stainless steel bottles to take on your adventures around the island--no need to buy bottled water and waste the plastic

CANE BAY BEACH:
Cane Bay is walking distance from the house (or a very short drive). Be sure to take the beach chairs, beach towels and coolers provided for you. Sweet Bottom Divers is in Cane Bay as well as "The Landing" and "Spratnets Beach Bar & Grill", or "Off the Wall" for some food and drinks after your water adventures. Sunday Funday is hopping at Cane Bay Beach with music and lot's of locals. Weekdays are chill with not too many people.

WATER ACTIVITIES:
Divers and snorkelers--Cane Bay is one of the best spots on island with the famous "Wall" that drops down 2000 feet not too far off the shore. See turtles, rays, fish, coral and sometimes dolphins! Swimmers, this is your spot! Distance swimmers will love swimming in Cane Bay--make sure to ask me (the owner) about the regular swims M/W/F/Sa mornings.

GOLF:
Hit up Carambola Golf Club, right down the road 10 minutes, with its course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr.

RESTAURANTS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE:
There are several wonderful restaurants nearby, and 5 within walking distance (AMA, Off the Wall, The Landing, Spratnet's Beach Bar & Grill and Sunny Shore Up Food Truck).

SHY DOG ON-SITE:
There is another smaller home on property where I, the owner, and my dog live. Zuri is my little sweet rescue that really needed a home. She's getting more and more confident with guests, and don't expect much dog time with her, as she's still very shy with others.

*Unfortunately, my two dogs that you read about in the earlier reviews, Whiskey and Cyrus, both passed away 5 weeks apart Aug and Oct 2023. They were loved by my previous guests and are dearly missed.

The property is one of the larger lots on the sea with half an acre and is completely fenced in with a cement wall with wood slats on top (very private). The pool is shared with me and "Zuri" who I'm teaching to swim. The pool is clean and you can hear the waves while in the pool. Sunbathing and cocktails poolside anytime are wonderful.

*Private chef available for some or all meals for an additional cost (subject to availability-reserve in advance-just ask me).

**Guests staying as Cane Bay Sanctuary should like dogs and be aware that the front gate always needs to remain closed. Thank you.

We couldn't of been happier this find this stay. We spent most of our time exploring the island but when we were not doing that we were enjoying the amazing views & pool. At night, we enjoyed stargazing on the upper deck and also caught some lightning storms. The location was perfect and away from crowds. There were great food, drink and beach areas within walking distance. Would definitely recommend this stay! Jill was an awesome host and great to us!

Amazing Stay!

Cane Bay Sanctuary is amazing in every way! The setting on the ocean is breathtaking.the home is immaculate, well stocked with everything you need for a tropical vacation and beautifully decorated inside and out. It is conveniently located. There are several restaurants in walking distance and easy to access both the east and west sides of the island. Jill the owner is an absolute gem! Kind, friendly, conscientious and readily available for any questions, help and recommendations . I would highly recommend this slice of heaven in St Croix!

Cane Bay Sanctuary is exactly that. A relaxing, private oasis just steps away from the action Cane Bay offers. Centrally located between Fredericksburg and Christiansted, it was ideal. Jill is an amazing host, available for questions or suggestions, but unobtrusive to allow for privacy. Great place!!

Best Place in St Croix

Jill was amazing from arrival to departure. Location is amazing and super easy to get to any place on the island. Absolutely no issues with our stay with the exception of having to leave.

Amazing stay at Cane Bay Sanctuary

The property was as beautiful and more! We’ve stayed in several vacation rentals and this by far was the most equipped. From the beach towels, to coolers everything we could have needed was provided by Jill. The house and property was super clean and very well maintained. There were a variety of restaurants close by and a beautiful beach as well. This home was in a great location to see all they the island has to offer. I would highly recommend this home and would love to return.

Amazing location in Cane Bay! Relaxing and beautiful

Jill was an incredible host and really took care of us before and during our stay at this property. The house is on the coast, with multiple decks overlooking the ocean. You can hear tranquil waves day and night. Location is great if you like being away from a city center - we really appreciated the short walk/drive (3 min drive) to Cane Bay Beach and good restaurants, especially Sunny Shore Up (breakfast), AMA (dinner, get a reservation, great bar), and The Landing (lunch and dinner). Jill went out of her way to ensure we had a great experience, providing helpful recommendations and customer service. We would return to Cane Bay Sanctuary in a heartbeat!

A slice of paradise awaits at Cane Bay Sanctuary!

What an amazing week! Jill, Whiskey, and Cyrus were the perfect hosts, and the Cane Bay Sanctuary is true to its name. Insanely comfortable beds, beautifully tiled bathrooms, a very well-appointed kitchen, and balconies galore with incredible views await you here. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks is pure heaven. You will not ever want to leave! Looking forward to coming back again next year!

The house was definitely as advertised. No busy streets or city sounds, just the relaxing sound of the surf right outside. The property had everything you could need, and Jill is a terrific hostess who provided a lot of ideas of where to go and what to see. She gave us a great tip for our first Discovery scuba dive right off Cane Bay which was definitely a highlight.

Our Favorite Vacation

The property is beautiful and I can't think of a single missing amenity. Everything was very clean. Jill is a total sweetheart and extremely knowledgeable about all kinds of activities on the island. Jill's two dogs Cyrus and Whiskey are just as sweet. The property is walking distance from three great restaurants and my favorite beach on the island. This was easily my wife and I's favorite vacation we've ever taken and I would recommend it to anyone! Thanks for helping us to have a wonderful time Jill!!

Best views on the island!

We loved our stay at this property and can’t wait to book another stay. The house had everything we needed and the location right on the coast allowed for almost 180 degree views of the ocean, crashing waves, and gorgeous sunsets. Jill was beyond hospitable and helped ensure we were always taken care of. This is the perfect spot for dog lovers. We absolutely fell in love with her two dogs, Cyrus and Whiskey, who were such fun, friendly companions to have on the property during our stay. Cane Bay beach and restaurants are within a short walk, but we recommend renting a car to ensure access to other areas of the island, including groceries, gas, town, etc. All in all, this was a wonderful stay and we will definitely be back!

Paradise

Jill provides a location over the sea that brings satisfaction to any visitors imagination of what paradise might be. Private pool, Sunsets and Sunrises to die for and a gentle walk in beach just a 5 minute walk down the road. Breaking waves lull one to sleep every night 20 feet below your private bedroom porch. And if cooking is not part of your dream , two excellent restaurants are under a 5 minute walk away as well as multiple locations to try for snacks or liquid refreshments! What could you possibly be waiting for?

Four of us booked a week stay at Jill’s house on the ocean. It was beautiful and breathtaking. You can’t find a better spot to stay on the island. Minutes away from restaurants and cane bay. Her home was very clean, all amenities you could need, and a nice, big pool with a view! Jill was very easy to work with and quick to answer any questions we might have. She was very friendly and her dogs were very well behaved and loved to greet us when we came back from exploring the island. You really should book this home if it’s available, you will undoubtedly love it. Thanks Jill for the great experience!!

Such a beautiful location and very relaxing

We stayed for an entire week and truly enjoyed this location. Jill was a wonderful host and very helpful. The home was very well stocked with everything we needed, even though the property didn't list it. The surf is exceptional for sunsets and meditation. I felt very relaxed. Jill happened to be finishing up some construction in the pool area that was running behind schedule due to weather. I only wish I was informed earlier. Our pictures at the pool were not what I hoped. Overall, we had a great week at the property and would highly recommend it.

BEST VRBO EVER!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week and are so appreciative of our hosts Jill, Cyrus and Whiskey in helping to make our vacation so relaxing and carefree. Jill was always available if we had questions or needed a suggestion regarding restaurants, beaches, etc. And, eventhough her home is adjacent to the pool, we had all of the privacy we needed. Our vacation home was just as the photos show, clean, bright, comfortable, great views. The pool was well used. We spent a lot of time under the shelter at one end of the pool...it has an amazing view of the ocean, sky and views of very distant islands. We would certainly recommend Jill's VRBO to anyone desiring a quiet and relaxing break. Jill, thank you so much for sharing your property with us...pet the pups...hope to see you soon!

Peaceful Portal

Jill; From the moment we were greeted by you at Cane Bay Sanctuary on our first evening, a weight was lifted. A sense of peace and calm with a little bit of childlike excitement came over us. Your CBS was just what the doctor ordered. You made us feel as if we were "home" at CBS during our stay. The ever-present continuum of the soothing ocean waves were incredible. We enjoyed the company of Whiskey and Cyrus. Thank you for your information and tips about the island. What a wonderful surprise on our last night! Beyond 5 Stars

Estate La Vallee is truly a sanctuary and one we are looking forward to returning in 2023. The property is perfectly situated on the north shore in the Cane Bay area which is home to a major dive scene, actually the best diving experience on St Croix, and there are a couple of very good restaurants, one worth calling out is Ama, a short walk from the house. And speaking of the house ... wow! ... you will love it! There is plenty of room for 2 couples as bedrooms are large with comfy beds and they are on separate floors along with two baths. Living area is most comfortable with TV, reading materials, and a lot of games to choose from, plus the Wi-Fi is very good - works from all over the house and outdoor areas. We were super impressed with the kitchen, it has everything including knives that are actually sharp, a variety of spices and condiments, and of course plenty of crockery and flatware. The layout of the house is outstanding, whoever designed it was spot on! The kitchen door goes right out to the outdoor area, again, very roomy and plenty of areas to sit and read or just lounge around. The pièce de résistance is definitely the swimming pool, it is perfectly placed, gets a lot of sunshine, and the water is sublime. Jill is an expert host and her dogs Whiskey and Cyrus are delightful, very chill and so friendly. We miss them already, hence our plans to return next year for another round of joy and fun at Estate La Vallee!!

Phenomenal!! It does NOT get any better than this.

We have been lucky enough to stay at many 5-star resorts around the world over the years, and to be honest, none of them hold a candle to this property, or to Jill the host. There is ocean view, ocean front, and then there is ON the ocean. You cannot get any closer to the sparkling tropical waters of St. Croix than Cane Bay Sanctuary. The ocean can be seen from every room except the bathrooms, and you can hear the waves all over the property. You can literally feel the ocean spray from the deck when the ocean is frisky. The pool view is fabulous. Jill was an amazing host. From answering questions before our stay to ensuring that we had everything we needed while we were at the property. Attentive, but not obtrusive. From local knowledge of restaurants to the best places to snorkel and hang out, she knows it all. Cane Bay Sanctuary really is magical. Jill has planned for everything you could possibly ever need, whether you are staying for a couple of days or for a longer stay. Tastefully decorated and relaxing. The beds were amazing, and that fully stocked kitchen really IS fully stocked, even down to the lime squeezer for your cocktails. The appliances are state of the art and there is even a washer and dryer if you are staying for a longer stay. Jill even has your beach needs covered. Whiskey and Cyrus were the perfect holiday companions and fun to hang out with on the deck. We are seriously missing those furry guys. If you are looking for the best place to stay in St Croix, look no further than Cane Bay Sanctuary. The first word to describe our experience was WOW!!!

My Family and I recently returned from a 10 day stay at Jill's place. The first word to describe our experience was WOW!!! Upon entering the grounds we were greeted by Jill and her two friendly dogs Cyrus and Whiskey. Jill is kind, gracious and has a great laugh and her dogs were simply a joy to have around. The dogs are playful, but gentle. Walking into her property we immediately heard the ocean and the thunderous waves crashing against the rocks just beneath her expansive deck. The view and sounds took our breath away. We seldom played music because the sounds of the ocean was our daily soundtrack that soothed us to sleep and woke us each morning to it’s trumpeting call. The accommodations were equally impressive. Jill’s place is great looking and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need to cook and whip up fruity slushy drinks! The living room is cozy and extremely comfy. There’s a flat screen TV, plenty of games to play and Bose speakers in the bedrooms. The master and guest room were large with huge picture windows facing the big blue. There was ample storage, several big mirrors and large closets with hangers. The decor was sunny and bright-perfect colors echoing the colors of the Caribbean. As mentioned the house is well appointed with all the amenities one needs. Plus, beach chairs, beach towels, several sized coolers and two large totes to carry your sunbathing essentials. The location was also a bonus. We were within close walking distance to Cane Bay and 4 beach front bars/restaurants. The Landing, Spratnet and Off The Wall are all fun casual bars that serve on site and carry out food and "adult" beverages that can be enjoyed on the beach. AMA is a fine dinning restaurant near by that is on the water and we had a fabulous dinner while viewing the gorgeous sunset. Be sure to make reservations and get there during sunset. All in all our trip was a great success! Whether lounging poolside or relaxing in one of the comfortable seating areas located on the multiple decks we were always surrounded by beautiful views, ocean sounds and lots and lots of bright sunshine. Thank you Jill for hosting us and providing a lovely home away from home. If ever passing through the western coast of Michigan you must stop by and let us take you to our favorite beaches. I'm a distance swimmer which drew me to move to St Croix all the way from Northern California. I thoroughly enjoying swimming at least a mile most mornings. Seeing turtles, dolphins, rays and such while getting my workout is heavenly! I also love to SCUBA dive and have dove all over the island, however, my favorite spot is "The Wall" at Cane Bay. I'm so happy and grateful to live here and to be able to share my property with those who love St Croix already, or first time visitors. It's a very special, wonderful place!

Why they chose this property

The dramatic oceanfront living (feels like being on a boat without the rocking) and proximity to Cane Bay. I also love that there are several restaurants and bars close by.

What makes this property unique

I love the private setting and the beautiful reef and tide pools in front of the house. This is rare on the island and reminds me of Hawaii. The sea can be calm as a lake, or have big waves rolling in, it's always changing! It's on a little bluff about 20 feet above the water, which keeps it safe from storms (the reef also protects the house). And, the best beach on the island is right down the street! You can walk or drive.

Very unique benefit: If you LOVE and MISS your dogs while traveling, mine are here for you! They will greet you when you come back to the property and they love to be petted and loved! Guests are quite happy with the dog company here. I don't know of any other vacation rental with this situation. The dogs roam the completely walled in 1/2 acre property and have a dog door in and out of my place. When I'm home, they are usually with me, but they love spending time with guests too. They are not allowed in the rental, but they will hang out on the deck and beside the pool with you.
