About this property

Charming Lopez Island Cabin

Charming cabin/guest house, on the south end of Lopez Island. It is just a short walk to Mud Bay. Also in walking distance to three other great beaches. All walks provide tranquil beauty and serene opportunities. Lovely garden available for sitting in the evening, and great sunsets. This cabin is close to a well-crafted, cedar sided house, which matches the cabin, however, you can expect total privacy, as the cabin feels separate from the house and is a self contained unit.

Great location to explore Lopez Island
We really enjoyed our stay here at this cozy cabin, it was a great location to start exploring all the beaches and parks that Lopez Island offers. Our host was freindly and the bed was comfortable. We didn't spend much time in the cabin, our goal was as much hiking and kayaking as possible, however it was a great spot to land when we were done. The only thing I would say to be aware of is that there was no reception for our phones and no wifi - we didn't mind - we just checked our messages when running into the village - so no problem for us.

Peaceful Stay
Great experience. I spoke with the owner a couple times on the phone before our time at the cabin. No complaints. I would stay again.

It was quiet. Secluded! Hassel-free check in. The new add-on (bedroom instead of loft bed) was a good idea and well done. Heater worked great! Hobo spider in sink. Underwear and clothes left in shower. Toilet base heavy pee ring. Sheets super old and looked dirty. Pillows very stained, yellow, and flat. Blinds were see through (if existed, window over bed - no blind) and we had to hang extra sheets over them. Missing stated TV, VCR, and toaster oven.

Terrible Experience, Good Host
Our stay at this Lopez Island property was short-lived. Upon arriving at the property, all evidence of the previous resident was still there: the kitchen was not put together, the dirty laundry was piled on the kitchen table, the trashes were still full, and there were no sheets on the bed. I was forced to drive ten minutes back down the road to get service to get in touch with the host Karleen. Unfortunately we came to the decision to refund the trip, and she was happy to refund the ferry ticket. All of my interactions with the host were good, but the house itself was disappointing. My partner and I were looking at sleeping in the car if we didn't rush to make the last ferry back to the mainland, with no other options of staying on the island.

Lopez Island VRBO cabin Review
Lopez Island is a beautiful island with many very friendly people. Most everyone waives at you as you drive past each other. Our rental was a nice, basic cabin. We rented for 7 days, and paid as stated. We then got a call from the owner asking us to check out a day earlier. She said she needed more time to clean for the next renter. Trying to be nice, we agreed. We were sent a revised billing showing an INCREASE in our rental rate so that the rent was the same, tax calculated on the artificially inflated rate, and the same fees. And a credit was made for less than 1/7th of what we had paid. We wrote to the owner thru VRBO and pointed out that we had expected a 1/7th reduction for helping her out. No reply. As the date approached, we talked to her about how to check in. We were arriving just after dinner. She said that she would leave the front door unlocked, and the key on the kitchen table. When we arrived, the only door was locked. We couldn’t reach her because cell service was not available. We tried under plants, and mats. We found a key under a mat of a door to the main house that was not the nearest door, or mat. After dark, someone did come by to make sure we had gotten in. We were surprised that she needed more time to clean, as there were few surfaces in the cabin. She should have blocked off the day before the next renter, who was already scheduled when we made our reservation. There was a rules letter on the table with complaints from the previous renter. As that person stated, there are milk crates behind the main house, but no labels for what recycling to put in each. There is no closable gabage container, and animals had already strewn about garbage from the previous renter. The BBQ pictured is not there. Only 1/2 a roll of toilet paper was left for her. Thankfully, that renter had left 3 rolls for us. The kitchen wall, bathroom wall, wall above coffee maker, and dining area wall, near trash baskets, all had food or other splatter. We cleaned these, but weren’t happy about it. Someone had left a mouth guard in a drawer under the sink, that the cleaner missed. There were lots of towels, but no blankets, just a bedspread and 2 small throws. The heaters work very well. There were far more knives than needed, but the first one I grabbed was not clean. Of the 3 dinner plates, 2 were cracked and chipped. Two reading lights by the bed were nice, but one didn’t work, despite changing the light bulb. The “brand ne
