About this property

Magnificent detached cottage in a peaceful spot in the hamlet of Stonehouse

The Old Dam is an attractive detached cottage nestling in a peaceful spot in the village of Cowgill and less than five miles from Dent's quaint cobbled village within The Yorkshire Dales National Park. Accommodating six guests the cottage has three bedrooms and affords incredible far reaching views up to Arten Gill Viaduct in the distance where the Settle to Carlisle railway passes (an impressive sight!). Providing an 'away from it all' retreat, yet within walking distance of a pub, The Old Dam offers all the comforts of home and is perfect for a break or longer holiday whatever the season.

Accommodation comprises:

Ground floor

Porch where you can store boots and coats.
Hall with cupboard providing more storage for outdoor gear.
Sitting room with multi-fuel burning stove set in a stoone fireplace, comfortable seating, TV, DVD player, wooden beams and delightful views over the garden and rolling countryside beyond.
Study which again has beams and exposed stone wall. A good place for those who need to catch up with the outside world or want a quiet moment.
Large well equipped farmhouse kitchen with beams, handmade units providing storage, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge & freezer, electric oven/hob, Belfast sink, and dining table with chairs. A cosy place for chatting about the days activities over supper.
The cottage has been extended almost the full length of the building at the rear with a large sun room that will overlooks Arten Gill Beck.

Side hall where there is a cloak room with WC and wash basin.

First floor

Landing (with airing cupboard) leading off to...
Master bedroom with en-suite shower room, king double bed and fabulous countryside views.
Second double bedroom.
Twin bedroom.
Family bathroom for a long soak at the end of the day with double ended bath (including mixer taps/shower attachment) and wash basin.
Separate WC.

Outside: The garden is large - a third of an acre with a large lawned area, borders for plants, a Wendy House, stone workshop (where bikes can be stored), private parking and views across Arten Gill Beck with the historic viaduct towering high above in the distance.

Additional information: Prices include electricity, heating, a supply of logs for the fire, bed linen and towels. Mega fast broadband available and private parking within the grounds. The Rayburn is only used a back up oven, in the event of main oven failure.
