About this property

Vintage wabi sabi artist retreat walk to Historic Dist & short drive to beach

The sunny 1930s cottage is on a charming quiet street in the historic Willowbank neighborhood. This soul-soothing 3 BR/1.5 bath home is full of warm nostalgia from the past, the juxtaposition of old and new furnishings/art enhances the laid-back aesthetic. Stylish and intriguing, yet immensely welcoming and thoughtful. The spaces are designed intently, collected, and curated through the years. This cottage is inspired by what I envisioned a grandmother's place by the coast would have been like.

Charming and well-equipped home
We appreciated details such as the toys for children and pretty outside lighting. We did walk once into Georgetown and back, but it’s not really necessary as parking is not a problem. We enjoyed the little farmers’ market, Hampton Plantation and Pawleys Island beach.

Beautiful home with everything you need
Visiting Georgetown to stay with my daughter who was performing with VARNA's music festival and Grace's home was perfect for us! She had all of the nice touches.... coffee, water, plenty of cooking utensils and high thread count sheets. She was a wonderful host responding immediately to any questions we may have had. We would love to stay here again!

About the host

Host profile image
I am a freelance graphic design and UX designer based in Durham, NC I owned several properties that were short-term vacation rentals in the past, and have met a lot of interesting people from all different parts of the world, it has been a rewarding experience for me, and I much prefer being a vacation host more than a regular long term rental landlady, so here I am... Before it is a vacation rental house, the 1930s Designed Coastal Cottage has been a private family-only summer house for over 8 years. Our family spent numerous summers at Pawleys Island beach, fishing, swimming, kayaking, and attending summer camps. Now that our boys are grown, our family decided to share our happy place with like-minded travelers.

Why they chose this property

The Willowbank neighborhood has been a local favorite for many years. It sits across the Historic District in Downtown Georgetown. We love being able to walk downtown for a bite to eat and participate in all the downtown festivities and museums. The cottage is also close to local grocery stores and restaurants, and the neighborhood is nice and quiet, it's got fast access to all the attractions without the noise and traffics. There is also a small playground that is within 3 minutes of walking distance for kids, Our kids loved it when they were small, and the most important thing to us is that the neighborhood is known for its safety and friendliness.

What makes this property unique

The cottage location is excellent, close to all attractions, and has excellent access to stores and restaurants, at the same time, it is a peaceful and quiet place to rest. It is low country vintage-designed and curated but with modern updated living. The Vintage Designed Coastal Cottage is soulful because it is designed uniquely with intent, for anyone who is looking for a restorative rest and inspiration to be energized for some beach fun. 10-minute walk to Historic Georgetown, 10 minutes drive to Pawleys Island beach, 20 minutes drive to Litchfield beach, 30 minutes drive to Murrel Inlet area, 1-hour drive to Charleston and Myrtle Beach ( from the house)
