About the host
Hosted by Charles Harris

The Mettawee house was originally purchased by the owners as a vacation home. The owners loved the Danby location, and the local residents were incredibly friendly. The indoor pool was a great feature, that isn't found in many homes - particularly in Vermont! The owners like the property so much that they decided to share it with others so that they could experience the gorgeous setting, incredible views, and unique Vermont experience.
Why they chose this property
Welcome to Vermont! In the Green Mountains State, you'll find famous fall foliage, renowned maple syrup and the most snow on the east coast. But there is so much more too: enjoy local food at restaurants and farmers’ markets, savor the revered beer culture, meet world-class artisans, explore endless recreational opportunities, rejuvenate at the spa, learn at noteworthy historic sites and above all, please stay awhile… Vermont’s attributes will continue to reveal themselves to you in honest and inspiring ways.
Vermonters are known for their independent-thinking, friendliness, sportiness, and resourcefulness. The state’s residents love the land and are committed to preserving, as well as sharing it. Vermont’s agricultural traditions have created open working landscapes amid a backdrop of mountains, many of which make up the nation’s first through-hiking trail, the Long Trail.
While it’s easy to spend days simply taking in the scenery, it’s even more rewarding to become a part of it. It’s easy to explore backs roads and well-maintained trails by bicycle. Go for a run or walk along busy downtown paths or quiet villages with covered bridges. Drop into a halfpipe on your skis or snowboard and share the trail with local Olympians. Cast a line in a lake or stream, or relax beachside at a pristine state park. Whatever the day brings, the night is sure to deliver a solid night’s rest - whether you choose to camp under the stars, cozy up under a quilt at an inn, or appreciate the thread-count at a luxurious resort.
In Vermont, one thing is beautifully certain: The seasons will change. And with that change, so does the landscape, the recreation, and the way of life. With every season comes new opportunities to explore the world around you. Welcome to a state that is truly never out of season.
