Lovely short stay on beautiful, peaceful North Haven
We enjoyed our 2-night stay at Turner Farm on North Haven! Benjamin was a friendly host, the house was spacious and tastefully done, and the location was everything we had hoped it would be -- peaceful, quiet, and with expansive views of both the sea and the beautiful farm. We loved the front porch and the private beach. We deducted some stars from our rating because the house itself was not as well equipped as we would have expected at this price point. For the cost, we expect comfortable beds, high quality bed linens and pillows, and simple necessities like a hair dryer and a tea kettle. The mattresses were awful, and the platform bed rails were so flexible that the mattress would cave in at the middle when we got into bed, while the whole bed creaked horribly when either of us would roll over. The second night, we had to put our mattress on the floor in order to get any sleep. Pillows were lumpy and there was no duvet or warm comforter - just a top sheet and a thin coverlet. There was no hairdryer in the entire house, which is a critical inconvenience for a woman planning on attending a nice dinner while staying on the island (in the barn at Turner Farm!). The lack of tea kettle made it difficult to utilize the French press and coffee that were provided. Overall, the property is stunning and the house could offer guests a 5-star stay and experience if more attention were paid to important details.

Gorgeous Property in Splendid Privacy
Jen & Benjamin have their hands full managing this sprawling saltwater farm property with a lot of moving parts. At the sizeable guest house it wasn't easy to secure a mop (despite repeat attempts), or find someone to take away the trash (who wants raccoons?), but the dramatic views, isolation & accommodating staff at the small but charming organic market (located conveniently onsite!) made up for the occasional slip in attentiveness. The website could use updating to provide a complete inventory of kitchen utensils & appliances (no dishwasher for example), though we found it otherwise well stocked, including the laundry alcove. Ask Benjamin for a farm tour to learn all about the history, restoration & ongoing works, you'll even get to say hello to the livestock! The rooms & common areas were spacious & well appointed. The furnishings were better than other places we considered in Maine. We appreciated the ample outdoor dining & play spaces. Beautiful, desolate (and occasionally 'sandy') beaches are nearby. A car is necessary to visit the sole town grocer and discover the father/son team harvesting green-hued oysters in the salt pond. Bring bikes to add to the fun. Important: Ferry reservations to/from North Haven island are often required in advance.

Exceeds expectations!
As peaceful and beautiful as you’d imagine. Clearly set up for large groups (I counted 11 places to sleep) but was very comfortable for our group of five. Manager was very helpful and responsive. Will be back!
