About this property

Le Logis de l'Echevin

Retired winemakers Marie-Luce and Pierre-Yves (from a line of winegrowers dating back to the 17th century) welcome you to an authentic and characterful hunting lodge built in 1630 and carefully restored. Adjoining the charming manor house they occupy (which once counted the illustrious French poet and politician Alphonse de Lamartine among its guests), the property is steeped in history and includes the family vineyard, "Château Bonnet," which has been cultivated for centuries (and is now run by their children using organic viticulture practices). The vineyards produce various Beaujolais crus, including the renowned Saint-Amour and Moulin-à-Vent. Enjoy peace and tranquility in the heart of a peaceful, small, rural residential hamlet perched on a gentle hillside, facing south, not far from the village center of La Chapelle-de-Guinchay, a picturesque wine-growing village with old-world charm and delightful local shops. A magical and enchanting landscape, nestled in the heart of the vineyards on the edge of a small valley of meadows (adorned with a bucolic little private pond) where a small, fish-filled river meanders. A sublime wine-growing environment surrounds the property, nestled in the rolling countryside on the border of the Mâconnaise and Beaujolais regions (protected as a ZNIEFF area for its rich fauna and flora), in the hollow of a rolling plateau of magnificent vineyards (flanked by sumptuous panoramas extending to Mont Blanc on a clear day!), bordering a large, unspoiled forest, as are the nearby banks of the Saône River (protected as a "Natura 2000 Zone" for its remarkable ecosystems, particularly its birdlife). This spacious and comfortable cottage boasts a warm, rustic charm with contemporary touches. It features two large, sheltered terraces, offering a choice of sun and shade (east/west). A delightful grassy park with hundreds of trees (a veritable "natural playground"!), featuring a small, open wooded area (complete with a unique and safe "zip line for children") and a small chicken coop, offering a beautiful, unobstructed view of the countryside and vineyards. Guests have access to the estate's lovely, uniquely decorated swimming pool (nestled in the castle's inner courtyard!) as well as a swing (on the owners' side). Composition: Gîte in a semi-detached house adjoining the owners' residence (completely independent). Wi-Fi (fiber optic). Electric heating. Wood pellet stove. Ground floor: living room/kitchen, separate WC. First floor: TV lounge on a mezzanine landing (with a 140x190cm sofa bed for two), 3 bedrooms (2 with three 90x200cm single beds, two of which can be joined to make a 180x200cm double bed / and two 90x200cm single beds that can be joined to make a 180x200cm double bed), one with an en-suite shower room (shower/WC) and one with a sheltered balcony-terrace, shower room, and separate WC. Double covered terrace and private parking. 5000m² grounds with a ping-pong table, children's zip line and swing, plus a private pond (below the property) and a swimming pool (8x4m / accessible until 6:30 pm) shared with the owners. Bicycle storage. Supermarket and other shops 1.5 km away. Picture-perfect setting nestled in the heart of the Chénas vineyards! Authentic characterful hunting lodge dating back to 1630, steeped in history and carefully restored - boasting a beautiful swimming pool (4x8m), a vast, well-maintained park & bucolic little pond shared with the owners - nestled on a small family vineyard cultivated using sustainable organic viticulture (in the Beaujolais AOC), within a peaceful rural residential hamlet located 1.5 km from the picturesque wine-growing and commercial village of La Chapelle-de-Guinchay (all amenities on site including a supermarket / a rare village officially included in both the Beaujolais and Burgundy wine regions) & 14 km from Mâcon, the southernmost city of Burgundy (river marina on site). Calm and tranquility nestled in the heart of the preserved wine country (partly protected as a ZNIEFF for its rich fauna and flora), on the borders of the Mâconnais and the mountains of Haut Beaujolais (a stone's throw from the vineyards of the famous "Moulin à Vent" cru, not far from the renowned "Val Lamartinien"), in the hollow of an undulating plateau of hilly vines, an exceptional wine-growing setting overlooking the Val de Saône (not far from the banks of the river, part of which are classified as a "Natura 2000 Zone"), extending from the sumptuous landscape jewel near the Roches de Solutré & Vergisson, labeled "Grand Site de France" (located 13 km away) and a vast wild forest massif. An ultra-privileged location on the "Burgundy Wine Route" (extending the Beaujolais Wine Routes), the Romanesque churches circuit, numerous "natural" footpaths winding between vineyards and open countryside, including a listed "green walk" (a vast network of identical hiking trails to be explored in the area), 1.5 km from a marked mountain bike route (linked to a vast mountain bike area covering the massif in a "star" pattern), 2.5 km from the "Cycloroute71" (Tour of Saône-et-Loire by bike), 3 km from the superb GRP "Crus, Vignobles et Monts du Beaujolais" (connected to the GR76), 7 km from the Voie Bleue along the Saône (adjacent to the EuroVelo17/"ViaRhôna" cycle routes) and 10 km from the Voie Verte of the "Grande Boucle Bourgogne du Sud". At the crossroads of the Rhône and Ain departments, at the intersection of the Mâconnais, Beaujolais, Clunisois-Tournugeois (labeled "Pays d'art et d'Histoire") and Bresse de l'Ain, rich in magnificent landscapes, exceptional heritage and world-renowned gastronomy. A prime location for easy access to several departments (A6 motorway & RCEA interchange 12 km away): 6 km from the renowned Touroparc Zoo (zoological and leisure park), 7 km from "Hameau Dubœuf" (Europe's first wine and vineyard theme park), 9 km from the Mâcon Loché TGV train station, 15 km from Belleville-en-Beaujolais, 23 km from Beaujeu (historic capital of Beaujolais), 27 km from Vonnas (Gastronomic village of Georges Blanc), 28 km from Villefranche-sur-Saône, 30 km from the illustrious abbey town of Cluny, 44 km from Bourg-en-Bresse, 49 km from Tournus, and 48 km from La Clayette. The perfect spot for any wine lover or for an ultra-relaxing "green getaway" with numerous discoveries, for families and friends alike, with the added bonus of relaxing by the pool!
