Lovely Cottage - 4th Time we've visited in the past 5 years and will definitely be back again.Great location in the centre of town but still close enough to drive to some of the spectacular local area.Host was great when we reported a potential problem which was resolved quicklyThanks again for a great stay
We have stayed at these premises a number of times previously and have to say nothing has changed, still a lovely well set out cottage right in the centre of Wooler.Very clean and tidy, with everything you need for a short break or a longer stay. The host is very helpful and communicates well.If you book the cottage be sure to book the Italian in Wooler, it’s called Milan and it is very good, the best bit is it’s less than a 2 minute walk from the cottage!
I booked this cottage as we were going away to celebrate my significant birthday with friends.
Love the location and the local area
Lots to do and good places to eat in the town centre - friendly neighbours and local people are great as well.
Thanks for helping my celebrate in style.
Ein sehr schönes Haus mitten in der Stadt. Sehr sauber und gepflegt. Die Küche war sehr gut ausgestattet. Die Lage ist ideal für Ausflüge und Wanderungen in den nahen Nationalpark.
We had a lovely comfortable stay here. The house is very well equipped and furnished. It is well served in Wooler with a handy supermarket and places to eat. It is in a quiet location and is well placed to get to lots of different places in the area.
Lovely property in a quiet village. Host was very responsive and instructions easy to understand. Property as advertised, clean and perfect for our stay.

Lovely clean and comfortable property with everything you need in a great location. Everywhere we wanted to visit was between 20 and 30 minutes away.
What a beautiful house and county. Went walking to linhope spout waterfall and it was amazing. Friendly area and people had a great nihjt in the anchor and food was lovely
The cottage is really lovely: big, bright airy rooms full of light. The hosts have thought of everything to make guests comfortable. We enjoyed the location too, and would certainly recommend staying here.
Smashing property with really good parking provision. Really in the middle of town but you'd never know; it's tucked away so sweetly.
Property was very well appointed and furnished with thoughtful extras to ensure a comfortable stay.
Thank you.
Pictures and description is 100%. Communication with the owner is smooth. The cottage is spotless, in the middle of town with café’s (for breakfast and lunch), 1 pub serving food in the evening a couple only 50 meters down the road, a great Italian restaurant in 60 meters and a pub (no food) with a garden 70 meters. The cottage is well laid out. Great walks in the vicinity. For a rainy day there are books from Louise Ross all located in Northumberland. Off road parking is very convenient.
Karin and Dave have provided an excellent holiday home in the very centre (yet tucked away in a quiet corner) of Wooler. The property is well maintained and equipped to the highest level. We really enjoyed our stay.
We have stayed at St Cuthberts Retreat a number of times now. The property is clean, well-appointed and we like the location, which is close to The Cheviots for hiking, has great golf in the area (The Roxburghe, Goswick, Linden Hall for example) and lots of interesting places to visit. In fact we always come away wishing we had more time there!
Thoroughly recommended - we certainly intend to return.
Property was perfect for a family of 4. Rooms were a great size and lots of storage for clothes.
Well equipped kitchen and the location was great. Really easy access to coop and other facilities in Wooler and an easy drive out to the coast.
Highly recommend.
We had a fantastic time in this lovely house! I would highly recommend it. So clean, spacious, located in a quiet and beautiful street. We would definitely book this place again.
Would be difficult and unfair to offer any negative comments about this accommodation. Even better as a positive comment is the property does NOT allow Pets!
Excellent. Additionally the private parking at the property is superb. I would definitely recommend and look forward to returning to the property in Wooler. Any further comments please refer to the 5 * ratings I have added.
Well furnished with good-sized rooms including handy utility room and good-sized downstairs cloakroom. Great location in the centre of Wooler with its own parking, though proximity to the church bells was problematic for one guest. Despite that, I'd definitely recommend.
The property was clean, fresh, comfortable, homely, spacious and comfortable. It was well located in the centre of the village of Wooler, yet was exceptionally quiet other than for the church clock striking hourly, which was quaint and no issue at all. Parking was very close to the property and away from thoroughfares. Lovely village within an easy car drive from many of the main centres and attractions of north Northumberland, a much overlooked yet beautiful county steeped in considerable history. I can't recommend Northumberland and this property enough!
Cottage much bigger and nicer than pics on website. Amazingly clean - could not fault it. Very, very comfortable. We would definitely recommend and hope to return.

About the host

Dave and I were born and bred in the North East and have always felt an affiliation with the region. I spent most of my childhood holidays playing in rock pools along Embleton Bay outside my grandparents 'wooden bungalow' on the dunes
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with Cuthbert's Retreat because of it's quiet location off the Market Place. It is situated along a pink graveled lane, situated in between 'Trotters Family Bakers' and the 'Essence of Beauty' tucked away to the side of the Bus Station. The view of the local church's clock face and tiled roofs is very comforting. Everything you need is literally on your doorstep. Wooler is a very welcoming and friendly place.
What makes this property unique
The peaceful location, stunning countryside and accessibility to the North East Coastline and Scottish Borders make Cuthbert's Retreat unique.
