Lovely stay! Felt like home as soon as we walked through the door!Nicely decorated and comfortable, well equipped and comfortable. And easy to park which was very important! Our hosts were friendly and responsive and check in was simple.
The cottage was a home away from home with everything you could possibly need. Ideally situated for exploring the local area. A lovely town with hidden gem of an Italian restaurant. An excellent place to stay.
Well-located to see the sights of Northumberland. Had everything we needed. Great information supplied. The church bells chimed hourly which kept us awake.
We stayed in Cuthberts Retreat for the second time and we enjoyed it very much. Well decorated, clean, complete and cosy. Superb communication with Karin, the owner. We highly recommend Cuthberts Retreat to anyone who likes a laidback lifestyle, antique shops, long walks in nature and friendly people.
Lovely house in very good location. The house is very well equipped and beautifully decorated. Shops are very close . Ate on Milan restaurant for wedding anniversary and they put a balloon on table. Lovely people.
Lovely cottage in a perfect location for visiting Bamburgh Castle and Lindisfarne. Accommodation was very comfortable and exceeded expectations. Would recommend.
The property is clean and well presented. The beds are comfortable. There is everything that you could possibly need and then some. Great place to be able to visit the whole area. It's quiet and private too and it's good to be able to park so close.
Gorgeous property right in the heart of Wooler. Ideal for our needs and lots of great touches. Definitely one to keep as a favourite. Owners were very helpful and answered any and all questions.
The cottage is hidden away in the heart of Wooler village and is a great base for walks (I'd recommend the short walk to Wooler Common) and visits to local towns, beaches and attractions. It had ample parking and was comfortable for our family of 4. The cottage is well maintained and decorated beautifully and it felt like home for our stay. Communication with hosts was friendly, clear and efficient and check-in and out was easy.
Lovely weather, great comfortable, clean, well-appointed cottage in an area with access to The Cheviots for walking, the coast for restaurants like The Jolly Fisherman, castles and gardens aplenty, wildlife in abundance and first-class golf at The Roxburghe.Heaven on earth.
We’ll presented and cared for let, really convenient location in the centre of Wooler makes Cuthberts Retreat a great place to stay and a good base to explore this part of Northumbria.
The cottage is really lovely: big, bright airy rooms full of light. The hosts have thought of everything to make guests comfortable. We enjoyed the location too, and would certainly recommend staying here.

About the host
Hosted by Karin Smurthwaite
Dave and I were born and bred in the North East and have always felt an affiliation with the region. I spent most of my childhood holidays playing in rock pools along Embleton Bay outside my grandparents 'wooden bungalow' on the dunes
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with Cuthbert's Retreat because of it's quiet location off the Market Place. It is situated along a pink graveled lane, situated in between 'Trotters Family Bakers' and the 'Essence of Beauty' tucked away to the side of the Bus Station. The view of the local church's clock face and tiled roofs is very comforting. Everything you need is literally on your doorstep. Wooler is a very welcoming and friendly place.
What makes this property unique
The peaceful location, stunning countryside and accessibility to the North East Coastline and Scottish Borders make Cuthbert's Retreat unique.
