We love staying here. We return year after year to stay at Kickin K. Wonderful hosts and beautiful cabins with plenty of room to enjoy the scenery and the river.
We spent time at this property in order to visit friends, go fishing and visit wineries. The house was very clean and the yard well tended so our dogs were also comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

Diane, we are excited that you enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you again sometime soon!!
We loved staying at Hillside Cabin. The house was great, but the property is the real star. It’s so relaxing and peaceful! We loved taking a long walk to the Meramac River and enjoyed the back deck. We would stay again!

I wanted to find a quiet place on rural land not too far from St. Louis to get away for a few days, and this place was PERFECT! No complicated check-in/check-out, and directions were very clear. Beds were comfortable with plenty of good pillows. Great to be able to bring the dog along too!

Couldn't have enjoyed the place more. Had a very nice relaxed vacation and enjoyed the peace and quiet very much. The river was beautiful and so were the fields. House had everything we needed and we were very comfortable. Thank you.

Thank you so much Mike! We are happy you enjoyed staying with us and can’t wait to have you back!
This was a great stay with fun to river access. Our float got cancelled due to sever storms and dangerous conditions on the water, but there were still safe spots to hang on the the water. We’d definitely go back since it’s a short drive from the city.

Thank you for your review Emily. I’m sorry the weather didn’t cooperate! Hopefully next time is better! We look forward to having you back!
The cabin was really clean and has lots of outdoor space. The river is just a short drive away, and has a spot to put a boat in. The access spot is on a cliff, so there's not a "beach", but we found an great place just down the highway.
Our dogs loved the huge outdoor area...plenty of space to run!

We stayed with our little girl as a short get away. It was perfect for our little family. My husband and I loved the peace and quiet, and our kiddo loved all of the new space to explore outside. Beautiful scenery, amazing quality family time, and Jessica was super responsive as a host. We will be back!

We utilized this cabin for a float trip on Labor Day weekend. While we weren't going to be in the cabin all that much, we wanted to make sure we had all the amenities of home while we were away. Comfortable beds, TV with streaming services and the property manager was prompt with all of our questions. Thank you for letting us stay at your cabin!

Thank you so much! We look forward to having you and your family back :)
Property was gorgeous with some amazing views, cabin was very clean but lacked some basic kitchen essentials we didn’t expect to have to go buy ourselves - location is beautiful but definitely not as secluded as advertising states (there is another cabin right next door) Also the first night we had a farm dog running around our cabin all night so it made us a little hesitant to let ours out .. Owner was great at responding quickly to any needs & overall we had a great trip! I’d recommend :)

Hi Caitlyn, we are happy you enjoyed your stay with us. It’s unfortunate that it wasn’t a 5 star. If you would contact me directly I would love to know what kitchen items were missing because I try to keep everything stocked. As far as the farm dog, we do have neighbors around and all live on the farm, they dogs are all friendly.
In short, every second of this trip was amazing! I could not believe how beautiful this place was in person. As soon as we got there one of the owners Justin came down, gave a full rundown of everything we could do, gave fun ideas and even helped to unload the heavy stuff. Jessica the other owner was so helpful and extremely quick to respond. The cabin was absolutely gorgeous and clean. The kids ages ranged from 4-10 (4 altogether) and every single one of them want to go back asap. It was relaxing but so much to do at the same time. We are already planning our next trip back! Thank you guys for renting out a little piece of heaven on earth!!

About the host

This idyllic location has been in my family for five generations. Originally purchased by my great-great-grandfather, my great-grandfather was born in the original farmhouse. Then my grandmother, her twin sister, my own mother, and I were all lucky enough and blessed to have grown up cradled within this picturesque and peaceful piece of land. Excited and inspired to share our love of this land with others, my husband Justin and I started 4J Vacation Rentals in 2020 with two homes— Country Cabin & Hillside— that were each built and lived in by my grandparents and my great-grandmother. In 2021, we purchased the neighboring 16 acres and 4 cabins— Dogwood, Sassafras, Copperstone, and Murphy’s Retreat— that overlook the Meramec River, and our vision of sharing this land was magnified and expanded beyond our wildest dreams. Additionally, Justin and I also run a nearby cattle farm, and my mom and I have started a non-profit equine therapy practice for those with special needs. Justin and I have two kids who love to run around and explore the surrounding rolling hills and sparkling riverbed, just like I did when I was a kid, and my mom did before me. This land is a magical place we so enjoy sharing— and seeing guests like you fall in love with it is such a rewarding feeling. Waking up to see the morning sunrise through the mist as it rises off the Meramec River Valley is a truly spiritual experience— one that will effortlessly bring you the serenity and tranquility you crave, and that are so lacking in the world today. But don’t take my word for it. Book your next escape and come see us soon.
Why they chose this property
The Hillside Cabin holds a special place in my heart as it is the home that my great grandma lived in for years. It is located on the farm within a mile of our private river areas and has a great view of the valley below. At certain times of the year you will see cattle in the front pasture as you come down the driveway.
