Beautiful clean new cabin that can comfortably sleep 8. with large open vaulted ceiling and loft area. The property is nicely landscaped with a cozy fire pit area, hot tub and large deck. The property is quite private in the back with only forest behind the cabin. There is a short path across the road to take you to the lake where there are a couple of kayaks ready to be used at our own private dock. Gorgeous stone fireplace inside creating a warm inviting place to relax. Large hand made live-edge dining table comfortable seats 10 or more people. 2 bathrooms, one with a tub/shower and the other with a walk-in tile shower. kitchen is stocked with lots of cooking supplies along with fridge, microwave and stove. BBQ, propane griddle and large wood burning smoker on the deck. Visit around the camp fire outside, relax in the hot tub, go for a long kayaking excursion, check out one of the many area hiking trails, go for an ice-cream cone, unwind at the beach... We enjoy the cabin just as much in the winter! Going on long snowmobile rides along the local groomed trails, then warming up in the hot tub or by the fire place. Nothing quite like it! There are usually lots of deer that come close in the winter that are fun to watch.

So glad you had a wonderful time. I was thinking you would have great views of those northern lights, especially across the lake! And what amazing weather too :)
Property was exactly as advertised! Very clean, well stocked, home away from home. Highly recommend this place, would definitely come and stay here again!

We came together as 3 senior brothers to hike, eat and visit together and to renew our relationships. The cabin is beautiful, well appointed, generously supplied and comfortable. And the park, too in mid September was great for hiking and kayaking.
We loved staying in this cabin. It is very inviting and super well stocked. We used the fireplace and hot tub a lot on the weekend. Being next to the forest meant we would see wildlife like birds, deer and foxes strolling by. Highly recommend!
Amazing cabin in a great location. Melanie was extremely helpful prior to arriving with information about the property and the area. The cabin had everything one would need! We will definitely be staying again.
The pictures don’t do it Justice! It is an incredible place and we loved our time here. Mel’s cabin had everything to make you feel like you were right in your own home. We loved how this cabin really was made to host a large family. There were things to do for everyone. The lake is serene and beautiful. The fire pit perfect with a glass of wine, and the hot tub heaven. We will definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for some R&R
Came up to the Duck Mountains for a weekend of snowmobiling. The cabin was everything we could have asked for. Close to trails, a driveway large enough to fit a flatdeck full of sleds, and a hot tub. The cabin itself is roomy and well appointed. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. Would absolutely recommend again
We had a family wedding to attend in Swan River, and decided to stay at this property instead of getting hotel rooms, what a great decision!! The host was fabulous to deal with— she answered our emails very quickly. This properly and area is beautiful!! We didn’t want to leave!
This cabin was terrific and the amenities were great. We loved the fireplace, hot tub and smoker in particular. Even with the weather not being the best, we managed to get out in the kayaks a couple of times. Melanie was always quick with her responses. The cabin was spotless upon our arrival. Beautiful area. We definitely recommend staying here.

Very nice open and welcoming property/accommodations. Clean, quiet and respectful area. No cellular service but wifi handled that portion. Unfortunately fire pit area was out of service but we managed without it. We didn’t stay to entertain but this place easily works for that with open concept, huge kitchen prep table and ample deck space. Owner was accommodating and made sure the stay was up to par.
The place was very nice Clean and very good shape. The only two bad points was no laundry and the bbq was not very good. Other then that everything was very nice.
We had a great time with our 6 kids at this beautiful cabin, it's stunning.
It is so peaceful and so relaxing.
We enjoyed the hot tub, and our teens the kayaks:)
We loved our stay at the birdhouse! Check-in was extremely easy, the cabin was very clean and had comfortable beds with lots of sleeping options. We enjoyed our friendly deer who would visit us literally an arm’s length away. Having a fireplace to take the chill out of the fall air was so cozy. The cabin was well stocked with every item we needed including games and puzzles and even a PS3 for the kids. We enjoyed fishing at Wellman lake and visiting the other beautiful lakes in the park. The bike trails were awesome! We hope to return again soon. Thanks Melanie!
This is our second stay at Melanie’s cabin. We love the area and the cabin is beautiful. It is easy and simple to interact with Melanie and the cabin is always spotless.
Thanks again!!

Daniel and his friends were very considerate and respectful. We were very pleasantly surprised when we followed up to clean and inspect following their stay. Our cabin was just as we had left it with no evidence that they had even been there. We enjoy our cabin very much and we also enjoy sharing it with others like Daniel and company. We would certainly welcome them back again! Overall a very pleasant experience. Thanks!...Steve
We really enjoyed ourselves at this beautiful cabin. It was so relaxing to not have access to our devices and just unwind, enjoy the hottub, read by the crackling fireplace, and watch a movie together. We also enjoyed hiking the nearby trails. The host answered all our questions and was great to communicate with. It's a bit of a drive, but worth it.

About the host
Hosted by Melanie Bird
Hi my name is Melanie, I am married to Steve and we have 2 adult sons and one daughter in-law. My husband and I own this cabin together with my mother. My late father was a general building contractor and he was the one that had the dream of building a cabin at the lake one day. Unfortunately the summer that we began developing this property my father got sick with cancer and died only four months later. We had the plans that dad had drawn up and the skills that he had taught us through the years so we forged ahead and built the cabin. I think he would be very proud of our accomplishments! We wish so much that he could be here today to enjoy it with us but we are happy to be able to share it with others.
Why they chose this property
This cabin was completed in 2016. It has lots of unique features that include, large stone fire place with a 100 year old beam mantle, large live edge dining table and a stair case that were made from a large spruce tree from the property. The ceiling in the kitchen was from a beautiful barn hayloft floor. This is our family cottage and we have used our creativity to make it unique, beautiful and inviting.
