Hatepe is a lovely community and the house is located close to the lake. It is certainly a modest holiday bach and we had a few issues with things being a bit run down but the host is responsive. Enjoyed our stay overall.

I am glad you enjoyed the Hatepe community and the location. Yes, the Bach, is a little bit run down, but they are minor issues, which we have since rectified. Apologies to you again, for those few issues you experienced.
Yet another awesome stay in the peaceful, happy, relaxing Hatepe bach, listening to birdsong, watching majestic kererū perch on & drink from the birdbath. Thank you for sharing Jan!
This is our second time and we another wonderful stay. Staying at the Hatepe bach is peaceful, warm and comfortable. So close to the lake, lots of walking & super near to Taupō. Make sure to read the book on Hatepe & Hinemaiaia ~ full of fascinating history! Thanks for having us again Jan!
The location was fantastic and was perfect for our stay. The property was clean and tidy and it was a little chilly when we stayed but there was plenty of firewood to make it cosy.
Although close to the main highway, it wasn’t really noticeable and to be honest didn’t bother us at all. We all had a great time and plan to return next year.
Hatepe is a beautiful place to visit. Hatepe bush provided wonderful daily walks with beautiful scenery to discover including the Hinemanaia River. The accommodation was wonderful with great communication for access, a lovely BBq area for evening dinners and is located in a nice quiet caldesac. We chose this place as we could bring our dog and he absolutely loved his first holiday. Thank you for having this accommodation available. Highly recommend.

Even thou we were in the middle of no where it was to close to the road as trucks going passed all night so not much sleep.
Hatepe is a fantastic location just 20 minutes from Taupo. The cottage is a great kiwi bach and has everything you would need for a holiday.
We were there for work in Taupo and hadn't realised how close to the highway the bach was. Trucks noise was a bit disruptive at night.
While we loved the location but the bach is very dusty, especially the bedrooms, and needs a good clean. Not so good if you are allergic to dust.
The beds are very comfortable

Simple Minds weekend
We had a great stay, and the BBQ area was wonderful to use. We didn't know there wouldn't be any toilet paper, thank Goodness for tissues in the lounge. We went bought some and left two rolls there. The single beds are actually king singles so our fitted sheets didn't fit, luckily there was a linen cupboard that we utilized and washed the sheets before we left. The kitchen needed to be cleaner and the pantry was full of out of date food that didn't need to be there. Getting access was difficult as owner sent info to wrong ph number, partly my fault as they had left a number out which i didnt notice Luckily we were able to contact 0800 number and get it sorted
Wonderful stay in a fabulous kiwi bach! Beautiful native birds providing birdsong, lovely outdoor areas & everything you want or need is provided. The bach is gorgeous, the beds super comfy, in a peaceful location. Jan was so kind, quick to reply & accomodating when I had to make some changes. Thank you so much & we’ll be back!!
Comfortable and well maintained batch. Easy to warm and sun all day when sunny. Nice spaces for outside and inside dining. We appreciated the citrus trees and the herb garden. Short walk to the lake

Hatepe
Unfortunately the property had not been cleaned well. The add was misleading explaining that the main house split up to 6 when it didn't (this has been fixed) There was less than half a bag of firewood available for four nights plus some scraps of wet wood outside. The small oil heater wouldn't have cut the mustard, we ended up going to Taupo to buy wood.
Nice tidy little bach, and very cosy with the wood fire. A short walk to the lake, and Hatepe is a nice rleaxed spot to stay. The only downside is how close the the main road it is - you can hear the trucks rumble through during the night.
