We loved everything about this property and the beach was one of the best we’ve been to. Fabulous swimming, not crowded and very beautiful.
Staff at Makayla Palms were very helpful without being imposing.

Do visit us again in our little corner of paradise and again thank you for taking the time to review us
Our Villa Tia was just perfect for us. Wie had views of the beach which was only 50m away and very quiet. The Villa was extremely well equipped and very comfy, with a lovely outdoor area. The gardens were beautiful. We couldn’t have asked for more.

We had a truly exceptional experience at Makayla Palms. Grace picked us up at the airport and proved to be so nice and helpful. The unit and grounds were meticulous. Our unit was well appointed with dishes, grill, outdoor furniture and view of the water. Our hosts supplied masks, fins, snorkels, kayaks, and reef shoes. It was all so easy. Our exploration of the island leads us to the conclusion this is the nicest beach area on the island. It’s only drawback is distance to a grocery store - though we managed thanks to the public bus. We plan to return and will stay in Makayla Palms. We enjoyed talking with Fred who keeps the grounds looking so beautiful. We travel a lot and we rate our experience an A+!

Everything was wonderful .
Everything was wonderful .. just as the website showed & described .. however the bed was like 2 singles together & each was very dipped & meant sleeping was only possible far apart from one another.

The property is immaculate and the rooms were so clean and well kept.
The property is immaculate and the rooms were so clean and well kept. Villa Tia has a very private feel and it was so lovely to go back to at the end of each day after exploring the island. The room had everything we needed, plus more. The access to the beach was perfect and wow it’s so stunning down at the beach.

About the host
Hosted by Makayla Palms
We both grew up in NZ and went to school there. As it happened we both became school teachers, had our OE and returned home where we met and married We taught for many years and gave up teaching in NZ to build Makayla Palms. We built and landscaped from the ground up and it was all a labour of love.
Why they chose this property
The land was given to John as he is part Cook Islander and for him it was coming back to half of his roots having been brought up in NZ. It gave both of us the opportunity to immerse ourselves with the people and their culture and for John there was a sense of "coming home" We gave up teaching in NZ to build Makayla Palms. We built and landscaped from the ground up and it was all a labour of love. It has been an interesting journey and we have learned so much. We love that we have a local couple who doing our housekeeping and gardening and have taken ownership with us on the journey. The icing on the cake are all the wonderful guests that come to stay and hearing their stories and seeing the pleasure that they get from being on such a wonderful piece of paradise and engaging with locals
What makes this property unique
Fantastic staff. Nothing is too much trouble. Helpful without intrusion. The location being a short stroll along a private access to the beautiful Titikaveka lagoon and beach reputedly the best on the island Beautifully landscaped grounds with herbs and chillis to pick when you are having a BBQ on your deck
