Cozy place to stay (in general)
The place in overall is quite good and decent. Plenty of space to store all those skiing and snowboarding gear. But, the shower is either ice-cold or lava.

A hippy at heart

Why they chose this property

This house was originally built to serve the timber mill workers.
The A frame was added to the front in the 80's and it was used as a ski lodge when bus loads of skiers travelled down from Auckland.
Then I bought it as a base for my family close to the mountains. The Waimarino is my traditional turangawaewae, where my tribe belongs, and where I am from.
For many years it was a family holiday retreat, then I started letting the house out for the ski season when the school needed accommodation for skiing students.
I like to maintain a comfortable family atmosphere in the house. There are enough beds for a large family or two. Somewhere to relax and enjoy time together, playing, eating, and having fun.

What makes this property unique

The best thing about the house is its location. It is close to everything there is to offer in National Park.
Joys Dairy is next door, the Ski Academy Gym is on the other side. Several Cafe's, Bars, and Ski/Bike/Snowboard rentals are within 2 minutes walk.
Most of the Tongariro Crossing transporters are just a few doors away from the house. Pick up is in front of the house.
The Park n Ride Carpark for the mountain shuttles is at the end of Ward St, just 2 minutes walk away.
