TIROROA : Gorgeous and Private Bay of Islands Home

Tiroroa (meaning “Extensive View”) is the Bay of Islands holiday home that you have been look for. Finished to a very high standard and offering fantastic views of the Bay and surrounding native bush. The breathtaking view and surroundings never cease to amaze as you gaze upon the islands of Urupukapuka, Motarua and Poroporo seemingly floating on the horizon. This stunning landscape makes it one of the absolute must see destinations in New Zealand and is visited by people from all over the globe. Keen sailors will appreciate that Dicks Bay and nearby Jacks Bay are popular and peaceful anchorages on the eastern side of the Bay of Islands. With a sub-tropical climate, visitors to this region enjoy beach and water activities, go exploring the many nature walks, swim with dolphins, sail, surf or just explore the 144 different islands in the bay. The historic township of Russell is the first capital of New Zealand and retains its European charm, drawing residents from all over the world forming a vibrant and friendly community with pop up weekend markets. There is a wide range of dining options from cafes to award winning restaurants showcasing the best of NZ cuisine and produce.

The heart of this recently built home is the huge designer kitchen with high quality appliances and stonework surfaces. Just behind a feature wall the separate lounge area has an open fireplace for the ambience rather than necessity given the eco-efficiency of the build. With a large master suite at one end and two generous double bedrooms at the far end, privacy is guaranteed with all rooms enjoying access to the large covered deck, which has outdoor seating, dining and a BBQ to enjoy the long Northland evenings. The house is well equipped with all the homewares for a perfect self catering holiday, creating memories of a fabulous romantic getaway or a delightful family holiday.
Additionally a cosy single room can fit a mattress or camp stretcher (no linen provided.)

Luxurious house with breathtaking view

The house is just incredible: luxurious, spacious and well equipped, embedded in the bush, throning on a hill and with a breathtaking view over the bay and it‘s islands. The pictures don‘t do it justice. Just ist back and relax on the terrace that runs the full lenghth of the house or take in the scenery through the huge windows from the dining table. Pretty, historic Russell is nearby with a surprinsingly good infrastructure. Kelly was very helpful and responded immediately to our questions.

We initially booked for 3 nights but ended up leaving after 2 nights. It’s a beautiful property, but while lounging in the lounge area, we found a dead mouse on the couch which was pretty filthy to look at. The bedroom was not up to standard - dead mosquitoes on the bed, the toilet wasn’t flushing, and there was no extra blanket or duvet. I had hoped for a pleasant stay as my partner and I took a holiday after 6 months. But weren’t happy at all. Hopefully we will have a better stay in Russell next time.

Thank you for the public feedback on your stay. The mouse discovery is absolutely terrible and we are so very sorry for the discovery. As per all our other reviews, the house is kept to an incredibly high standard of cleanliness but as the house is located amongst beautiful native bush with thorough pest control we are not 100% immune to something getting in and this is the first time in all the years we have hosted that this has happened. The house was thoroughly cleaned the day before your arrival so it is most likely the discoveries you report found their way there over night and we will be reviewing our check in procedure accordingly. Apart from the mouse discovery which we addressed as soon as it was reported to us the other items were unknown to us and surprising to learn about only via this review. We certainly provide extra blankets for guests and these are in each bedroom, yours would have been in the blanket box in the master bedroom. Please advise when you can which toilet was not flushing as we have checked all those on the property and all are in perfect working order. Although I never spoke with you directly, only via your partner, I do hope you enjoy your return to our lovely area in the future. Kind Regards Kelly

Fantastic views, peaceful & lux

Great property. Fully kitted to have a good time. Loved the toy selection, garage space for the kids to enjoy and even the amazing playground in the middle of the bush! (Lots of muddy clothes to wash but kids loved it - not for kids under 6 I’d say as it’s quite steep). We’ll definitely come back. Thanks so much for your hospitality!

This beautiful house high up in the trees has everything you need for a great stay. After initial trouble getting up the steep drive due to freak weather conditions the house was more than worth it.
