THE AREA
The triangle of White Stone, Irvington and Kilmarnock encompass the area. Plenty of shopping, eating, golfing and fishing for all!
BOATING/KAYAKING
The Chesapeake Bay, Rappahannock River, Little Bay and Carter's Creek are all in the area. You can sail or fish to your heart's content.
1. Windmill Point Marina is just a mile down the road. There is a public boat launch, pool, sand beach and dining. You can enjoy the Rappahannock River and the Chesapeake Bay from there. There are some jetties on the river. There is also a kayak launch just before the marina. You can also get to the Tide's Inn from here, but there is a closer launch in Irvington.
2. If you prefer a smaller body of water, there is a launch just down the road in the other direction at Bay Seafood. From there you will be on Little Bay where you'll find a very popular jetty for sunbathing and fun. It's also a great place to launch a kayak.
3. If you'd like to visit Carter's Creek by the Tide's Inn, there is a launch in Irvington on Steamboat Road. Again, a great place to kayak!
If you're not bringing a boat but would like to go fishing, there are plenty of charters available. I would suggest checking the internet before your trip.
HIKING/BIKING
There are several state parks and trails throughout Lancaster and Northumberland Counties. Belle Isle offers just about everything, including classes and entertainment. Huglett Point Nature Preserve has gorgeous beaches and walking trails. I would recommend checking the internet for more information.
