About this property
Vineyard and Mountain Views
You have found a nugget of pure gold! Just 13 km north of Alexandra lies rural Springvale. Travel up Golden Road and you're there: A country retreat, a modern house, a landscape in which you can lose yourself, yet find inspiration and peace.
This property ticks all the boxes. Modern, well-appointed and warm Maison D'Or is the ideal holiday home for your stay in Central Otago. Suitable for a large family or group of adults about to embark upon the famous Rail Trail, it is just 6 - 7 minutes from the Trail HQ at the western end of Springvale Road.
The region is famous for its long summer days: warmth and steady conditions allow a full exploration of the region's attractions. Mountain biking trails, four wheel drive adventures, windsurfing or canoeing on Butchers Dam, boating and water skiing on Lake Dunstan, 18 holes of golf (and another 9 hole course at Clyde), tennis at Pioneer Park are just a few of the local activities available. In winter, the Alexandra Olympic-sized ice rink caters for ice hockey, curling and skating although if the Manorburn dam freezes then this huge area of ice offers an alternative and truly unique open-air skating experience.
A little further afield lie four of the South Island's major ski fields, all within a 1.5 hour commute. The property is within easy reach of the Queenstown airport and the unique alpine destination of the lakeside town itself.
The house is well-appointed with a nor’westerly aspect towards the Dunstan Mountains. Several ranch-sliders provide access from the open-plan kitchen / living area, the lounge and the master bedroom to the extensive patio. The internal access double garage allows for secure car and bicycle storage. Special conditions: Smoking allowed outside only No pets Note: Two unfenced ponds 50m from house. Young children must be supervised

Stunning location outstanding views over vineyards even snow caped mountains in the distance. Close to Clyde very quirky with plenty of eating options. House was comfortable spacious clean and very quiet. Could have stayed longer not enough time… W & JJ GiGi
We had a lovely time staying here. Thank you. Stunning (breathtaking views, in fact). Remarkable privacy. The accommodation was very spacious and enjoyable. The perfect private getaway.Endless views of vast vineyards nearby. - the only thing to keep in mind is that you might hear the 'bird canons' going off in the vineyards if the grapes are in season - but wasn't too loud and we got used to it.
Communication with the host was excellent and the home is easily one of the best (we have stayed in quite a few) and the view is stunning. We hope to be able to stay again sometime.Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.
Lovely stay in a home that felt like being at a family members home. Everything went great and could've stayed longer especially with the scenic views directly in front of the property. This stay was accomodating of our every needs, the front outdoor area facing the vineyard would be perfect for a firepit too! Thank you for our stay

Absolute bliss. It was wonderful to walk into a toasty warm house on a 0C night. Breathtaking views, comfy beds, easy access to everything we needed, we're eager to return in the future. Wish I could rate 10 stars!
