About this property
Newly updated Lakefront Houghton Lake home - close to popular sandbar.
Cozy home in nice neighborhood with beautiful lake views - close to shopping, restaurants, and other activities. The neighborhood is so conveniently located, but feels tucked away in a laidback, slow paced, little lake village.
This home is 1400 square feet. It has a master suite with queen size bed, twin size pull out sleeper chair, large closet and private full bath. The second bedroom has a queen size bed and the third bedroom has a pull down twin size Murphy bed and high quality queen size futon. The house was originally a two bedroom. The master bedroom and laundry area were an addition. Due to how the addition was designed, you need to pass through the bedroom with the futon(the 3rd bedroom)to access the master addition. You can go outside and around to another entrance if you want to avoid having to pass through the 3rd bedroom, but so far our guests have not had any problems with the layout. The main living/kitchen area is an open layout. There is a main kitchen table that seats 6, and a Jack Daniels barrel table with 4 barstools. There is a main 3/4 bath and a full wall of windows to enjoy the view of the main lake. Outside there is a gas grill, poly table and 6 chairs as well as 5 poly Adirondack chairs and a fire pit. The water is shallow enough to wade right out from the private dock or bring your boat and explore the 22,000 acre lake!
We have tried to think of everything our guests would need to enjoy their stay. We try to provide, but can't guarantee, many extra little things such as pantry items, cleaning supplies, storage bags - saran and tin foil as well as plenty of bathroom supplies.
There is a washer and dryer for your use and plenty of parking.
Houghton lake has something for everyone - in the summer- boat, swim, fish or ride the trails with dirt bikes or ATVs. In the winter- ice fish or enjoy snowmobiling. Shopping and dining at the local stores is good all year around!
Thank you for checking out our home!

Home was amazing! It had everything we needed for a quiet family weekend. Very clean. Warm and cozy. Perfect location and short distance to everything! We would stay here again and again! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.
The house was exactly as listed and in the pictures. We really enjoyed our stay during the week of mid October. It was very quiet, the lake view was perfect and fire circle very well designed for cozy fires. Very clean and owners easy to work with, would stay again if in area.Great location to town, Hartwick Pines and nearby State Parks.

About the host
Hosted by Joe and Kathy Benchley
We are Joe and Kathy Benchley. We bought our house on Houghton Lake when the Sanford Dam collapsed in 2020 and we no longer had a lake near us to enjoy. We fell in love with the house and the area. We enjoy getting to the Houghton Lake whenever we can.
Why they chose this property
I love this house because it has such a warm and cozy feel to it. The yard has enough room to play games and enough trees to be in the shade if preferred. It's in a relaxed neighborhood with slow traffic that's very golf cart friendly. : ) It's close to anything you would want or need, but doesn't feel that way.
