It's not a bach, it's a home with lovely lake views everywhere!!! A piece of lake paradise.
Lake swimming access is 50 metres from the house; literally across the street.
10-minute drive to town but once you've settled in, you won't want to leave the tranquility of the bay.
Plenty of space to park the boat off-street - up to 5.5m works well. Larger than that, the driver must be skilled reversing and navigating a tight curve. Boat launch access is 1.4 km up the road.
Lots of room to let the kids run around and play in the yard. If they are down at the lake and not too noisy themselves, they can hear you ring the cow bell for dinner. It's that close - only 100 meters away & you're in the water!
The indoor / outdoor flow is great for BQs and watching the sun set or rise over the lake. Due to the high deck and steep steps & stairwells, we don't recommend this property for toddlers. We want everyone to relax and enjoy the views, a glass of wine and not worry about the littlies.
THE HOUSE: We have recently (2024) renovated. We are about 90% finished. We've done a lot: new carpets, curtains, paint, deck, sofa and a few other bits & bobs. We want guests that will enjoy and respect our beautiful lake house.
Upstairs is a private room we call the “Crow's Nest”. Everyone fights over having this room - for the 360-degree views.
We use the house and lake to disconnect from the rest of the world, so there is no internet, but we have compromised with dish TV.
We have provided blankets, duvets and pillows. We prefer guest to bring their own linens (sheets, pillowcases, and towels) but we can provide them for a small fee ($25 per person). Otherwise, you'll find the house fully stocked to meet your everyday needs.
DETAILS TO NOTE: No WI-FI at the house. We hotspot off a phone, if the tech withdrawals are too severe. Find the mime at the house to get our view about disconnecting while at the lake.
There is a required one-time cleaning fee per stay.
We also offer a 10% discount for stays of a full week or more. We hope you appreciate the simplified pricing for up to 6 guests and enjoy a wonderful time at the lake.
PLEASE NOTE: Decks and steep stairs (inside and outside) are not suitable for Toddlers.
Remember to let us know if you need us to provide linens.

Lynn was incredibly welcoming. Accommodation, location and view were stunning. It was so great to connect with family offline in this fantastic location. Close to swimming and only a short drive to Taupo. I would highly recommend and we would love to come back.
Basic but clean and spacious property. Lovely position and views of the lake. Would recommend for a Wi-fi free family destination

Great location, house needs sprucing
The house is a good size and has everything that you need. The lake is a very short walk from the property to have a quick dip and the views are fabulous.
The house is very nice, but with peeling wallpaper, bouncy old beds and some cobwebs it wasn't as fancy as the pictures or the pricetag suggested. I think with two families the price would be OK.

We're sorry the house didn't meet all your desires. Removed the mattress topper based on your feedback. We agree the wallpaper needs attention and it's on the list. But believe the pricing is good value for house & location.
Wow what can we say!!
A fabulous home with the most stunning views of the lake and surrounding area. The deck and patio space is great and we spent a lot of time out there enjoying the sun and views.
An absolute pleasure to stay in a holiday home that is obviously loved by the owners. Very clean and extremely well equipped with everything you would find in an everyday home. We had a fantastic stay and would stay again in the blink of an eye.
Thank you to the owners for letting us stay in your awesome home.
We stayed for three nights- myself and my partner, both of our mothers and our two children, 11 and 7 years old. We were blown away by the views as soon as we arrived, especially from the top bedroom. The pictures don't do it justice! The house was really spacious for all of us and it was great to have two bathrooms. The house is very well equipped with everything you need and the new carpet is lovely! Our daughter loved all of the games available and we played many of them! Both of the kids loved the space inside and out to play. It was a really peacefull neighbourhood and just a short stroll to the beach. Lynn communicated with us really well. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again.

Lovely view, don't expect any mod cons
Firstly, Lynn communicated well throughout and her instructions on how to get to the property etc were very good.
The house is basic, but nice and clean and has the most stunning view of the lake from the deck and open plan lounge/ kitchen/ diner. The crow's best also has a lovely view of the lake but also of the neighbour's hot tub, so watch out!
Unfortunately there is no internet, which we were surprised by in this day and age. It was a pain churning through data allowances just to find things on google maps etc.
I was really disappointed to have to pay for linens, especially given the cost we had paid per night.
The driveway is exceptionally steep and there is no room to turn the car around at the carport, so be prepared for either a tricky reverse up or down the upper part of the driveway.
Finally - we particularly booked this place as the listing said it was so close to the Lake you could 'call your family for dinner from the house' and they'd hear you. This is just not true. To get to the Lake you have to walk down the aforementioned very steep driveway, cross the road and then walk along the road until you are past the houses that are on the lakeside. It's not a long walk, maybe 5/10 minutes, but we couldn't wander down to paddle in the water with the kids while dinner was cooking as we'd hoped from the description.
Not a bad stay, but I don't think we'd stay again.

So sorry, Kirsten that our disclosure about not having Internet & linens weren't clear enough for you. We try to make sure everyone is fully aware before booking with us, which is why we don't accept bookings automatically. We don't like anyone surprised or disappointed.
You obviously missed the lake access almost directly across the street to a lovely almost private bay with lovely swimming. There is a small sign indicating the public lake access which you could have used while cooking dinner. Most of our guest have had no issues locating that access. The walk up to the next Bay is also close as you mentioned but you are right the kids won't hear you from the house there.
We appreciate you being or guests and are pleased you otherwise enjoyed the setting & views. We hope you had some quality family time & birthday celebration.
We had a great stay here with a group of 5 friends. The house was a good size, had everything we needed. The view is gorgeous and the grounds are lovely to relax in. Heaps of space for at least 2 cars. Communication and assistance with the owner was excellent. We felt very welcome. Thanks for a lovely stay Lynne!

Challenging stay
Would have been better had the place been cleaned before we arrived. Lovely neighbour hood but facilities need updating.

I am sorry it didn't meet your expectations.
We and our cleaner are surprised by your comment as the house was cleaned before your arrival.
Great position overlooking the lake and a quick stroll to get tovthe water for a swim. No Wi-Fi and only TV upstairs in double bedroom meant more card games and family time. Very clean and well equipped but a little dated.
A very relaxed happy time here. Everything we needed but a few more games available would have been good
Also beds too small for several of us as kids beds.

So sorry to hear that the single beds (which are normal full size singles) were too small. We'll have a look at the games again, as we know a few have had pieces go missing. Thank-you for the feedback.
We were a family of six adults and had the most marvellous and comfortable holiday stay.
The views were amazing. There is a little beach just across the road and down a grass path where we swam and kayaked every day. We really felt like we were away from the city-hustle in this peaceful spot yet Taupo was just 10 minutes drive for groceries.
The kitchen was well appointed. We were often feeding visitors and there were plenty of good sized bowls, pots, plates etc . Everything was very clean. I can very much recommend this property.
the view is spectacular, less than 10 mins from town center, we've been to Taupo about 6 times, this is the best house we've had.

Great location, great host - great family getaway spot
We stayed here over the Christmas period and had a great stay. Views from the balcony across the lake are beautiful, and the top bedroom has even better views. Lake access is walking distance and we spent a lot of time down there. The house is starting to get a bit tired, but it was absolutely perfect for our stay with kids aged 6 and 8, as there is also a reasonable grassed area outside. We had contact with the host Lynn before during and after our stay, and she was always very responsive and pleasant - even when my son accidentally broke a window by kicking a soccer ball against it! Highly recommend it - we'll be back.

very nice property
We had a very nice stay. The house is comfortable with a variety of bed options. We used the room in the crows nest, with wonderful views over the lake.
The landlady was always quick to respond to any query we had.
The lake is only a couple of minutes walk in the other side on the road.

Beautiful house, amazing views and very well equipped.
Beautiful house, amazing views and very well equipped.
This is our family holiday spot. My happy place. A great place for making wonderful family memories.
Why they chose this property
The setting is beautiful and the lake is right there and we have great neighbors. The area is very central to NZ and Taupo offers so much for all sorts of interests.
What makes this property unique
Off street parking for boats. Boat launch nearby ~1km up the road. Plenty of space for the kids to play safely outside in the yard.
