70's vibe hill house
When you arrive you can't expect so much steep street and house at Wellington . I thought San Francisco was already extreme but here not is comparable...so please if you book this apt, leave your high heel and your big suitcase at home 'cause is not for you. Surrounded by trees and quiteness this little home is a mix btw nonna's /antie house with a touch of colorful moderness. Everything has been choose with careful to match colors, quality and style and provide an amazing sense of hospitality. A beautiful experience in a windy city.

Peaceful
Cosy, well equipped and clean. Peaceful and surrounded by trees and birds. Steep path/steps to access the house, tricky with luggage and after dark. Also not close to the CBD. 35 minutes walk to the city, and that’s downhill. Wouldn’t want to do the walk back up the hill!

Lovely, quiet and comfortable little spot!
We really enjoyed our stay. We actually thought it was better than what it looked in the photos, which never happens! Belinda was very hospitable and we had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Loved the decor of the place too. Great location with a nice view over the burbs and only a 10 min ride from the city ($12-$14 uber ride).

Lovely place
We stayed at this rental for five and a half weeks. The owner (Belinda) was very accommodating. The apartment is clean and has excellent views! Beautiful sunrises everyday! Comfortable beds and a nice open set up. The location was ideal and in close proximity to all amenities, funky shops in Newtown, and walking paths. We would book again! Loved this spot!

About the host

I was born and raised in Marlborough, before moving to Wellington at 10 years of age.

I spent several years in my youth living overseas, backpacking and travelling extensively, enjoying a wide range of experiences and forming long lasting friendships with fellow kiwis and people from all over the world.

Firstly living in Sydney, Australia then the big leap to London to work for a couple of years to save for the inspirational experiences and further work opportunities on offer in Europe and further afield. Out of the blue, I found myself with my sister working and living on the world's largest Ostrich farm in the Negev Desert of Israel. From building Silos in the south of Sweden to cooking in the most beautiful Hacienda on the southern coast of Spain; it really was an OE that kept on giving and the opportunities were abundant.

During my travels over the years I have met so many fabulous people. I am thankful to them all for their friendships, and those opportunities provided to me. They were very good times, and as a budding photographer I took great pleasure in documenting many of my journeys and continue to do so! So central Europe on a shoestring, Greece, Turkey and Egypt and homeward bound via India, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam 4 years later.

Back to Aotearoa, the land of the long white cloud, where I developed my Wedding and portrait photography business and also worked for many years in Family Law.

As I have enjoyed the homes and hospitality of so many wonderful hosts overseas and within New Zealand, it is now my pleasure to share my apartment Conifer House, (aka the Chook House) with you. As an adventurer, a photographer, an artist and a keen socialiser, I haven't yet found a more interesting place to live than Wellington. It's a vibrant city, compact and very easy to get around. I hear time and time again from my guests that Wellington is living up to its wonderful reputation as the greatest little capital in the world.

Why they chose this property

If you want to be close to the city, just up the road from the beaches, minutes away from a boutique cinema, and our finest restaurants but just far enough away to relax in the elevated sunny garden setting then this is the property for you. The apartment is private, light, and full of mid century/70's inspired furniture, art, photography, music, books, and with free view TV, and unlimited WIFI just so you don't feel too far off the grid.

What makes this property unique

Enjoying a city experience but also returning to the serene setting that Conifer House offers sitting on 3,000 square metres of land with native bush and far reaching views. Plenty of available free parking directly outside the property is a real bonus.

My guests continue to tell me how private and peaceful Conifer House is. I have enjoyed time and time again hearing of children enjoying feeding the 10 chooks that roam the 3,000 square metres of land surrounding Conifer House (aka now as the Chook House).
