Beware: The 60+ “reviews” must be paid for — here’s why. Where do I start with Banjo 5? They have a car park… somewhere. But there’s no signage whatsoever directing you to where Banjo 5 actually is. You’ll wander up and down the road aimlessly, wondering where the property could be, only to discover it’s a flight of icy stairs down from street level. Lugging bags down (and back up!) those slippery stairs is a nightmare, especially after a long drive and with ski gear in tow. Now, the infamous wood fire. Plenty of wood, sure, but it’s deliberately chopped into massive chunks so you can only fit a couple pieces in at once. And only three fire starters are provided—good luck if you want to keep more than three fires going to stay warm in this wooden shack. Everything here is timed and controlled — heaters, lights — and don’t be surprised if you get messages reminding you to turn things off to “save energy.” Welcome to hospitality stuck in the 1990s, where you’re treated like an energy-wasting tenant, not a guest. The kitchen? Dirty forks and knives on arrival set the tone. You’re expected to clean up better than you found it, which should be the absolute minimum, but isn’t here. The absolute worst part? Check-in at 4pm and checkout at 10am. If you’re relying on buses or don’t have a car, be warned: they won’t allow bag storage. That means you’ll be dragging your luggage around all day before check-in and after check-out. After a four-hour drive, who wouldn’t want to ski or
