Charming little cottage Lovely relaxing spot so peaceful abundant bird life The surrounding area is Sublime if you like outdoor activities it’s the perfect holiday destinationalthough the water is drinkable I do suggest bringing your own. We really enjoyed our stay.
We recently stayed here as a family and overall had a lovely experience, rating it 4 out of 5 stars. The home has a very warm, nostalgic “nanna-style” feel — simple, cosy, and welcoming. It had all the essentials you need for a comfortable stay, and my kids absolutely loved the bunk beds, which was a highlight for them. The location was also a standout. We especially enjoyed heading down to the beach via the Minnie Water Back Beach trail — it was beautiful and a real bonus of staying here. One evening we travelled over to The 383 for dinner, which was only about a 15-minute drive. It has a great area for kids and the food was delicious, so definitely worth the trip. The only downside for us came down to personal preference. As a family, we’re quite used to modern comforts like reliable WiFi, paid TV, and air conditioning. While I personally didn’t mind going without, my husband and kids did find this a bit challenging at times. That said, if you’re looking for a relaxed, no-fuss getaway with a homely feel and great access to the beach, this place is a great option.
very impressive little cottage, what a great spot. Annette has gone above and beyond with this property, has everything you need (except for maybe a hairdryer). unfortunately the weather was terrible on our stay, there were plenty of things to do at the house like games, books, music, movies). Only downside was no front fence to keep the dog in, but we did not end up needing it. Comfortable bed, modern updated interior made it most delightful
We enjoyed our stay at the delightful Minnie Shack - it was well set up and had everything we needed to enjoy our time there. We loved sitting on the front porch watching the ocean through the trees. Minnie Water is a quiet and secluded small beach town that is away from the crowds, which we loved. It's only a short walk down to the beach lookout over the lagoon area and there are walking trails along the coastline too - or if you want to go to the main beach at Minnie Water, it's only a few minutes drive there and to the general store which has good coffee and chai lattes as well as nice food options like the homemade pies. You can swim at the beach there or walk up to the rocky headland. We also drove to Wooli and explored that area and had a swim there also (about a 15 minute drive away). Grafton is about 40 minutes drive away - we recommend doing the self-drive scenic Cattle & Cane tour from Grafton through to Lawrence and Maclean - see the Clarence Valley website for details. It follows the Clarence River and there is a free ferry crossing on the way - Maclean has a lovely lookout at the top of the mountain plus the rock pinnacles. The host (Annette) of Minnie Shack was very easy to deal with and checked in to make sure we were happy with everything. Would recommend to anyone who wants a quiet and relaxing break away and hope to go back one day to Minnie Shack.
A nice quiet home. Very clean and well equipped kitchen. Short drive to the local shop and beaches. Opposite park with nice ocean views. Good communication with the owners. I recommend it as a place to stay for your holiday.Stanley
