About this property

Rogue's Hollow Retreat

Welcome to Rogues Hollow Retreat. Looking for a romantic getaway or need a place to unwind from the hustle and bustle of your busy life? Perhaps a writing retreat is what you desire? We have just the place for you!

Built in the 1850’s, this 2 storey limestone home is rich in history and full of warmth and charm. Nestled in the historic village of Newburgh Ontario, (formerly known as Rogues Hollow) and sitting directly across from the Napanee River, this cozy two-bedroom home has just been renovated to include modern elements and conveniences while keeping the original character. Wide pine floor planks and inviting Persian rugs create a peaceful and inviting atmosphere. The recent renovation and design was completed by a former movie set decorator. The colours chosen help you flow from room to room while the lighting and decorating set the stage for a magical stay.

The fabulous, well-stocked kitchen incorporates original wainscoting, pine floors and pantry, while new butcher block counters, appliances and lighting provide all the modern conveniences of a top notch kitchen. A breakfast bar is situated so you can look out onto the backyard with your morning coffee and watch the bunnies and multitude of birdlife. Another lounge area in the kitchen invites you to sit and enjoy a cocktail while dinner cooks.

Walk through the 2.5 foot thick doorway into the open concept living and dining room filled with an abundance of natural light and warmth. Enjoy the oversized Montauk sofa, click on the gas fireplace and sit back and relax in cozy luxury. A dining table with 6 chairs awaits the sharing of intimate meals.
If you're arranging a surprise getaway (or proposal!) for your loved one and would like everything taken care of for you, we can help. From delivering chilled champagne and delicious appetizers, to gourmet dinners and romantic breakfasts, we can help set the scene, and make this a stay to remember!

The primary bedroom located on the second floor has an attached office area with a desk overlooking the Napanee River... a perfect spot to write the next great novel! The spacious bedroom has a queen sized bed, ceiling fan, pine floors and large closet located in the hallway. The spa bathroom has heated floors, a deep claw foot soaker tub and a one of a kind vanity with a hand painted sink. The 2nd bedroom is on the main floor so you have absolute privacy for both of the bedrooms.
The 2nd bedroom is located off the kitchen and has patio doors that lead to the back garden. Features include new wall to wall broadloom, large dresser, a pull out queen sized sofa and tv, as well as a full sized washer and dryer.

Enjoy the oversized yard with various seating areas, a fire pit along with an abundance of garden "rooms' and shade trees. Located on a dead end street, there is little to no traffic, and parking for up to 3 vehicles. Street parking is also an option.

The location features many activities to keep you busy exploring if that's what you desire. The Cataraqui trail is a 3 minute walk from the house where you can stroll for hours, or take out the bicycles that are included with the rental. There are a number of beautiful hiking trails, conservation areas and provincial parks which are located between 20 and 45 minutes away. With many local lakes to enjoy - swimming and paddling opportunities abound. Your hosts can provide specific recommendations to help you plan your days.

Other things to explore are nearby horseback riding farms, farmers markets on Saturdays and Sundays during warmer months, and the Dark Sky lookout, which features incredible stargazing opportunities.
Take in the quaint old downtown of Napanee, a 10-15 minute drive from the house. Stroll the strip, do some shopping and get some yummy treats from Elena’s. If you are looking for more action Kingston is around 25 minutes away, for fine dining, shopping and seeing the many historic sites and waterfront of Lake Ontario. Take the ferry to Wolfe Island or drive another 30 minutes to the beautiful town of Gananoque and the 1000 Islands.

Whether it's relaxation, romance or adventure you desire, it's all here at the Rogues Hollow Retreat. We look forward to welcoming you and making your stay one to remember.

Exceptional Find

This home is exactly as lovely as it appears in the photos. The stove in the living room with the remote to light the fire added great ambiance to sipping the first cup of coffee. The coffee and creamers were on site, much to my surprise and delight. The bedroom is spacious with a comfortable bed and the pullout downstairs just as good. Soaking in the old fashion claw footed tub was a bonus delight. The house is full of live plants; the art work and other amenities curious and beautiful; fresh cuttings of the flowers on the property place in vases throughout. I wish there had been more time to enjoy being in the space or sitting outside and/or using the fire pit. I highly recommend this property.
