About this property
Leeside - Riverfront Relaxation
Come stay, explore, and relax at Leeside – where the river sets the pace.
Nestled in the historic river port town of Goolwa, Leeside is a family holiday home designed to be inclusive to all ages. Grandpa and Grandma Lee’s dream was to have a space that accommodated all the family, much like their sailing boat in the 70’s, tailored for family over fast!
In sailor speak, the leeside is the side that is sheltered from the wind, and with floor to ceiling windows it offers exactly that, a sheltered place to stay connected with the everchanging landscape outside.
Start your day with a coffee or wind down with a glass of wine as you watch the Murray River drift by. Located just across from the Goolwa Yacht Club, there's always something to see –yacht races, houseboats, pelicans, families of black swans…
Leeside is a comfortable space, situated right on the bend of the river, and thoughtfully set up to provide everything you need for a for a fun and relaxing retreat. You will be welcomed with a bottle of local wine (we love Home of Plenty in currency creek) and a stunning view. If you feel like adventure, enjoy paddle boarding on the two SUPs provided or have a crack at sailing or windsurfing right across the road. The Encounter Bikeway is literally at your doorstep, connecting you to Port Elliot, Middleton, and Victor Harbor. We have two kids’ bikes available, or you can easily hire extras nearby. Just a short 180m stroll along the river brings you to Bombora Café, known for its next-level breakfasts, local pipis, oysters, and salt & pepper squid, or head 1km down the scenic path to the Goolwa Wharf Precinct, home to the much-loved Hectors on the Wharf, Signal Point Gallery, whiskey tasting at Fleurieu Distillery and markets on a Sunday! We also love lunch at Motherduck Cafe on the historic main street and the Cadell street fish and chips. Goolwa Beach is renowned for surf, cockles, and close proximity to the Coorong. The beach is a quick 4-minute drive from Leeside or a scenic 20-minute walk – try surfing, boogie boarding, or a laid-back lunch at Kuti Shack. If you are travelling with little people, our kids have been massive fans of the Bristow Smith Reserve Nature Playspace, right on the river front, with Grandma at their side.
Winter has its own charm for a day in, where you still feel connected to the rhythms of the river. Cozy up on one of the three couches with a cuppa and a book or grab a bean bag and help yourself to the collection of games on offer. If you’d like to venture along the coast, jump on the historic Cockle Train for a ride to Victor Harbor or stop off at the treasured seaside town of Port Eliot. A ten-minute drive takes you to the currency creek wineries, try out Home of Plenty for a truly unique cellar door experience.
Leeside sleeps 6 across three bedrooms (one with ensuite), and you'll find everything you need: a fully equipped kitchen, tea, coffee, local wine, two bathrooms plus an extra powder room, and all the soaps, shampoo, conditioner, and linen you’ll need to simply arrive and unwind. We have supplied 2 x Stand Up Paddleboards and lifejackets for our guests to use and a pair of binoculars if the bird hide is more your thing.
Come stay, explore, and relax at Leeside – where the river sets the pace.
