Welcome to Happy Joy, our bright and comfortable beach condo located just steps from the beautiful white sands of Dauphin Island, Alabama. Whether you’re planning a relaxing family vacation, a couples getaway, or a peaceful retreat by the water, this cozy condo is designed to help you slow down, unwind, and enjoy island life.

One of the things guests love most is the easy walk to the beach. Walk out the door and in about two minutes (yes, we timed it!) you’ll be standing on Dauphin Island’s quiet, uncrowded shoreline. On your way, you’ll pass the community pool and outdoor shower, making it easy to rinse off after a day in the sun.

We’ve tried to think of everything to make your beach trip easy and relaxing.
To help you pack lighter and enjoy your time on the island, we provide beach towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, an umbrella, and a beach cart so you can easily carry everything to the sand.

The Space
Happy Joy comfortably sleeps up to 6 guests and is perfect for families, couples, or small groups looking for a peaceful beach getaway.

An additional twin daybed with a trundle bed are located in this space with linen curtains for privacy.

Many guests comment that the beds in the condo are some of the most comfortable they’ve ever slept on!


Kitchen
The fully equipped kitchen includes everything needed to prepare meals during your stay, including cookware, dishes, utensils, and small appliances. Whether you’re making breakfast before the beach or preparing a seafood dinner after a day of fishing, you’ll have what you need.

Bathrooms
The condo includes two full bathrooms, stocked with towels and essentials to make your stay comfortable. They are not large bathrooms, but they are clean and stocked.

Beach Gear Included
One of the best things about staying at Happy Joy is that you don’t have to pack your car with beach gear.

We provide:

Relaxing!!

Love this place and you can look out the window and see the ocean!! We had 6 people and all slept good. When you go to the beach there was never to many people there always had plenty of space!! We took our kids and they range from 2yrs old to 17 years old. The walk to the beach is not bad at all. We went the last week in June.

Quick stay

This was a lovely place to stay! No one’s fault that Francine rolled in to spoil the show! Loved the proximity to the beach & we managed 3 beach walks. Okay the last one we got pretty damp but it was exciting! Not your every day experience! We loved the place. Just wished we could have stayed longer! ☺️

Beautiful Condo in great location!

We absolutely loved our stay at Happy Joy. We were traveling with our 3 children, ages 10, 10 and 12. The proximity to the beach was perfect. We walked about 2 miles down the beach in one direction. We fished 100 yards from the condo, we rented bikes and biked to the bird sanctuary and to the Fort and visited the aquarium. The owners thought of every amenity to make our stay amazing. We will definitely be back!

The Island of Peace

The property location is a perfect setting for much needed recharging time with the family. This property is one of the older properties The outside shows character and age, however the owners of A9 Happy Joy have put their modern touch of decor inside to make the inside feel like home. Our family and I enjoyed our downtime on the private beach all day and in the evening cooking meals making memories together. It is important to know that this property is shared with some full-time occupants Their idea of peace and quiet may not be the same as yours so select accordingly as we learned to adapt and adjust. Thankful for the long days on the beach we were able to adjust to the heavy footed neighbor above with the vocal dog. We are definitely interested in looking at other rental location options to revisit Daulphin Island in the near future. We were thankful with the willingness of the host to hear our concerns about their "heavy footed" above.

Great location for a family beach trip

The private beach was convenient for short daytime excursions and allowed us to quickly return to air-conditioning when needed. I’d recommend packing extra Pedialyte powder to give a hydration boost as our son had a prolonged episode of tachycardia although we constantly pushed fluids. The condo was clean and welcoming. Beds were comfortable, and plenty of bath linens and beach towels were available. We brought laundry pods but there were plenty to use for our short stay. Our first aid kit didn’t include vinegar for jellyfish stings, so I was happy to see it in the cabinet. Basic dishes and utensils were included. Shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel dispensers were included. An assigned parking space was available right outside the unit. The upstairs kitten rushed into the condo unit and needed to be retrieved but that was how we found the missing puzzle piece mentioned in previous reviews under the couch! Speaking of upstairs, be prepared for noise from the unit above in this older downstairs condo. I first thought there was someone inside our unit upon arrival. Sounds continued during our stay - not before 8 am or past 10 pm - but the loud echo of coolers being dragged, running, and doors slamming was reminiscent of living in a dorm. We found books for a 4-8 year-old age level as well as a few for older children and adults. We collected seashells, ghost crabs, and visited the Aquarium to learn about marine life and pet stingrays. East End Public Beach (near Fort Gaines) had the best shells and a hermit crab colony along the rocks. We left our gear at home as the provided chairs, toys, nets, umbrella, soft cooler, and beach wagon were convenient. I did still bring our own larger pop-up canopy shelter for better sun coverage and a larger soft-sided cooler. Our family recommends Pirate’s Bar and Grill (panoramic views and selection of adult beverages), Skinner’s Seafood (homemade shrimp and crab bisque, steamed shrimp with black pepper and garlic, crab legs), and Lighthouse Bakery (cinnamon rolls). We spent 1.5 days in Mobile and Foley (outlet mall). A&M Peanut Shop in Mobile sells nuts to feed squirrels in Bienville Square. Overall, we found our stay very comfortable. I’d recommend the condo for small families but would caution guests to prepare for background noise that comes with living in close proximity. When I reached out to Joy before arriving she was prompt and responsive, so I am certain that she would have helped if needed.

Happy Joy is truly a special place

Our family was there for spring break. The location is perfect; there is a pool and the beach is literally just steps away. The "extras" provided by the owner were very helpful--beach accessories and a wagon to haul them in. The unit had plenty of space for the five of us. It could easily sleep 8. We would happily stay here again. The island is a fun place to be, and this unit gave us great access to all of it!
