About the host
Hosted by Amanda Olsheskie
I’m from the Ottawa Valley and grew up on this land. It’s a place that’s always grounded me and shaped how I see the world.
I enjoy being outdoors, working with the land and creating spaces where people can slow down and feel at ease. Hosting feels like a natural way to share that — offering others the chance to reconnect with nature, with themselves and with something simpler.

Why they chose this property
I chose this area because it’s home. I grew up here, and this land has been part of my family for generations — originally settled by my Polish ancestors who immigrated from Poland in the 1800s.
This space continues a vision that has been passed down through generations. Today, it’s something I’m proud to share with guests in a way that honours both the land and the experience it offers.
The Ottawa Valley holds a unique kind of beauty — quiet forests, nearby lakes and a slower pace of life. Here, you can truly disconnect from the noise of the city while still being close to small communities like Killaloe, Wilno and Barry’s Bay.
It’s a place rooted in history, nature, and connection — and one that tends to stay with people long after they leave.

What makes this property unique
Vista Cabin East is a private, off-grid retreat set on 200 acres in Ontario’s Ottawa Valley, offering a rare combination of seclusion, simplicity and connection to nature. Unlike typical cabin stays, this space is intentionally designed to help guests slow down, unplug and experience a quieter rhythm guided by the land.
Rooted in our Polish and Métis heritage, the property reflects a deeper connection to place, with subtle touches that invite reflection, stillness and appreciation for the natural world. Guests have access to expansive forest trails, peaceful nooks and seasonal experiences — from warm, fire-lit winters to light, breezy summer days.
With its small, thoughtfully designed footprint, off-grid amenities and emphasis on simplicity and comfort, Cabin East offers a unique opportunity to step away from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with what matters.
