2024 booking fast! Limited summer availability. June 22-25 and August 11-26th openings (will accept 3 or 4 night stay beginning or ending on Sundays in August). Fall openings from September 2-October 22nd.
New EV NEMA 14/50 electric vehicle plug (bring your own charger). No fee$$ for charging your EV.
Great oceanfront private home, owner designed and managed, with wonderful oceanfront beach views and beach strand. March 2024 brought more sand on our beach from a beach renourishment project. Short walk from house to stairs over the protective dunes to nice broad beach strand. Supplemental pool heat with new heater (March '24), (if needed for modest fee) private pool. Heated pool opened in March until November. Over 80% of my renters are repeats, many multiple years. Send inquiries for 2024, for the very few weeks which aren't rebooked by multi-year repeats. Digital Nomads welcome through part of the fall/winter/spring. We have high-speed fiber-based internet which can support "work-from-anywhere" and remote learning. It's nice when you take a break or end your work /school day to take a walk on broad beach which you are sharing with only a handful of others.
Beach is open, beach strand is in GREAT shape following a major beach renourishment completed in March 2024.
Re : Pool, Solar blanket and southern exposure (w/new pool heater optional possible very reasonable /surcharge applies) will warm the private pool. Take a short walk over (stairs over) dunes to broad beach. Pelican Watch is named in honor of the brown pelicans who fly by on the updrafts from ocean winds off the dune-ridge along the beach.

ELEVATOR serves top floor which is main living level and one oceanfront bedroom suite. Elevator does NOT stop at lower living level which has 3 bedrooms.

House has 4 bedrooms, 3 facing oceanfront, 3.5 baths inside, & enclosed outside shower w/ hot/cold H2O. Glass-paneled back deck off small sitting area on main living area offers privacy/protection from ocean breezes and nice views of Lockwood Folly Inlet. Our house is on the lightly developed "East End" of Holden Beach.

Beach Trip

Excellent location - bathroom shower curtain in Jack and Jill bathroom needs to be replaced (had mold on it). Property manager was incredibly attentive.

Vacation at Pelican Watch

We all thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at Holden Beach. The house was comfortable and suited our needs perfectly. Any questions we had were promptly answered by the property owner. The pool was a big plus and used by all! The beach was a brief walk away. Our stay was all we hoped for.

Wonderful Host

Mr Woods was great in keeping us up to date before our stay and also checking in with us during our stay when a storm was approaching. The home fit our family wonderfully, giving everyone their own space. Having a pool to cool off in after a long, hot day at the beach was GREAT. Sadly I did not pay close enough attention to the fact that there were so many steps to the beach access (my fault) Other than my hip "talking to me" each night, it was a perfect trip. Thank you Mr Woods for opening your lovely home to me and my family.

Great communication and beautiful sunsets

Communication was excellent from the time we booked and throughout our stay. It was a perfect location. We loved being able to step out at night to enjoy sunset on the beach. The house had everything we needed. My girls loved playing games in the extra loft area by the kitchen. We had forgotten one of the beach and pool toys for our youngest, but Irv had something perfect available for him to use!

I grew up with a family beach house at Edisto Beach, SC. Love the Carolina coast. Holden Beach is not at all like Myrtle Beach. We built this house in 2008 and incorporated improvements on the design of our other very nice house, Hold-on-Beach (sold on April 2021). We love the East-End of Holden Beach so much, we are now on our third house in the neighborhood. We designed and built Pelican Watch for long-term enjoyment and eventual retirement. Heated pool really extends pleasure to almost 9 months.

Why they chose this property

Special design and open space, visually from glassed back deck to stunning ocean views from both living levels. Elevator serves top floor (main living level) from parking level. Inverted floor-plan. Private heated (optional) pool is open from mid-March to Thanksgiving.
