About this property

Magnificent mas in the Alpilles with natural pool and lavender fields

The Mas de Cinq Sous
A secret refuge

In the heart of the Alpilles National Park, a few minutes from Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, the Mas de Cinq Sous invites you to a parenthesis in the middle of nature, out of sight.

Sheltered on a 5-hectare plot, the property enjoys a unique view of the Alpilles massif. A privileged place for holidays with friends or family. The 250m2 Mas can accommodate up to 8 guests in complete privacy. This house, subtly renovated respecting the original materials, has kept all its charm of yesteryear. A beautiful balance of tradition and contemporary combining stone, wood and steel.
Its cathedral kitchen, its living room with its typical Provençal fireplace, its 4 suites bathed in light, its endless garden, its petanque court under the pine trees, its vegetable garden and its natural swimming pool, make it the idyllic setting for rest and tranquility.

Respectful renovation
The Mas de Cinq Sous was the home of the Swiss painter Georges Item for more than 40 years.
This house was for years a meeting place for writers, poets, artists, and musicians.
After almost two years of work, this sleeping beauty is opening its doors again. To preserve the authenticity but to provide the farmhouse with the current comfort. Insulate but not lose the beauty of the stones, break when necessary but not demolish the magic of the place. The owners worked with the Bosc Architects agency and surrounded themselves with a team of local craftsmen who were concerned with protecting the history of the building.

A chic and contemporary decoration
The layout and decoration have been tailor-made by the decorator Marc Abelin who likes to imagine each room as a surprise offered to those who visit it. To arouse emotion, to arouse curiosity, to awaken the senses, he plays with contrasts and creates unexpected harmonies. Like in one of the rooms where curves rub shoulders with straight lines. A deep Inbani freestanding bathtub nods to its totem basin. While a metal beam runs through the room on the ceiling, the metal bedside tables are reminiscent of the industrial-looking chests of drawers in this room that was once a painter's studio.

A bewitching setting
Turn your head, to the right, to the left. In front of you, behind you, you are surrounded by the Alpilles. A vertigo of nature. The Mas de Cinq Sous is inspired by the nature that surrounds it.
Everything has been thought out to enjoy this exceptional garden throughout the day.
In front of the house, an incredible table. It was while visiting the marble worker with whom the decorator had collaborated that he came across a huge cutting machine at the back of the workshop, marked by the passage of the blades. It will be the centerpiece of the garden.
A few meters away, a 25m2 fireplace has been designed to enjoy the Milky Way once night falls. At the end of the garden, there is a natural swimming pool nestled in the middle of the scrubland. Designed as a secret with a breathtaking view of the Alpilles massif.

Tailor-made holidays
A wide range of services is available at the Mas de Cinq Sous to make your holiday even more unforgettable: bike rental, horseback riding in the Alpilles or in the Camargue, home chef, sports coach, yoga classes, tennis, golf, massage, discovery of the Calanques by boat, guided tour of the LUMA Arles, private driver, babysitting... Dare to ask. The team at the farmhouse will be happy to fill your heads with delicious memories with a personalized welcome.
