About this property
"Peaceful Valley Homestead" Hobby Farm & Mountain Paradise NEW HOT TUB!!
HOBBY FARM AND MOUNTAIN PARADISE. NEARBY PROFESSIONAL ROCK CLIMBING. MILES OF NEARBY ATV TRAILS. GOLD MEDAL FISHING 15 MINUTES.
Our cabin is 2200 sq ft., located 14 miles north of Woodland Park surrounded by Pike National Forest. The cabin is nestled among 60 year old giant pines and cottonwoods with groupings of large rock formations. The homested is actually the subdividsion of Pemberton, in Westcreek an old gold mining town with a wealth of history.
As one of our guests stated, "It is soothing to soul", and it is!! The sounds of the creek moving just outside the front of the cabin will simply wash away all the stresses that can accumulate with everyday life. There is quiet solitude and sounds of nature all around, with an abundance of furry friends. Hummingbirds return each year. We have nesting Red Tail Hawk, Golden Eagles and Bald Eagles that nest nearby and hunt our property. In the early morning or evening you will likely see our resident deer coming to drink from the creek, red fox, or blue heron on the w
The cabin is constantly being updated and renovated. Originally built by Jim's grandpa in 1952. It has had some additions made to the original structure. Surviving the Hayman Fire and two major floods. His grandfather is also responsible for all of the many rock walls surrounding the property, including a rock fort clubhouse at the top of the hill above the cabin. He built it for the many cousins who who visit often as boys. They would camp out there. There is also a rock fire pit nearby the fort.
We have now created a homestead here in an attempt to grow most of our own food.
We have a 3000 sq ft greenhouse where we grow an abundance of vegetables that we can and freeze. We also have Dexter cows, one of the original breeds prior to inner breeding. We have a bull "Mooster", named by previous owners. We just call him Moose. Three females that are due to give birth this spring. Rita, Lola and Nievea. Three small bulls to remain unamed.
We will be trying our hand at milking late Spring, hoping to make butter, cheese and ghee.. Always and adventure.
We have two older horses Frisky and Autumn. The are living out their golden years here. We also have 50 chickens which I am sure will be closer to 100 by Spring as we are constant;ly hatching to increase the flock. 100 is the limit.
We would love to have you visit and be a part of our adventure.

We are Colorado natives. Enjoy gardening, farming, animals and mountain living. We love sharing the experience of being here with others.
Why they chose this property
This property has been in the family years. Jim's grandfather purchased this property over 70 years ago when he and the owner couldn't come to an agreement over him fishing in the creek. It was of course private property. He told the owner if he would just sell him some of the property they wouldn't have to have this argument every time he came up to fish. The owner finally agreed to sell him a portion of the acreage and the rest is history. We love sharing the cabin and helping to make a special getaways that will make the kind of memories for others that we have...
What makes this property unique
The location is perfect. The perfect amount of privacy within close proximity to town. However you are away from everything. Our guests have described it as 'A Little Piece of Heaven'. Another called it 'Soothing to the Soul' There are so many things to do within a short distance for those who are active. We have some who barely leave the cabin, just content to soak up nature. Kids love the creek and the stone fort on the hill. Not to mention several tree swings around the property. It has something for everyone, even our furry members of the family.
