Hiking: Miles of private roads within Sportmens Paradise or venture off into the National Forest right out the back door. Other National Forest trails are within the surrounding area including the South Platte river trail into scenic Wildcat canyon.
Fishing: Fishing within Sportsmens Paradise is restricted to members and their designated guests. Renters are strictly prohibited from fishing all SP waters including river and ponds. HOWEVER, there is ample public fishing within a few hundred yards of the cabin and access into the public Wildcat canyon area of the South Platte. Fishing for trophy Browns and Rainbows is just a few hundred yards away. Eleven Mile Canyon and the Dream Stream are also minutes from the property and if lake fishing is your pleasure try Eleven Mile Reservoir, Spinney, Antero or Tarryall. Some of the best fishing in the state is just footsteps from our Sportsmens Paradise property.
ATV/4x4: If wheeling is your favorite activity look no further. ATV or Jeep right from our cabin into the Pike National forest with access to many miles of trails throughout the area. Challenge yourself in Hackett Gulch or China Wall all a short distance away. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit while on the private SP road system but once in the National forest speed is your discretion. It is 1/4 mile to the National Forest on an ATV. Be safe as many of the trails can be very challenging to the intermediate/novice rider.
Hunting: There is no Hunting within the SP property boundaries but this cabin is adjacent to the Pike National Forest and in an excellent location to use as a base camp with access into some hard to reach areas. Elk, Deer, Bear, Moose, Mountain lion, bobcat, fox, turkey all frequent the area.
Rockhounding: The local area is full of Smoky Quartz crystals in all shapes and sizes. Amazonite is regularly found as well. Arrowheads and scrapers have also been found with regularity.
Relax: If you just want peace and quiet this is your personal heaven. Sit on either the master bedroom deck or the main floor deck and enjoy the great mountain air. There is plenty of outdoor furniture to sit and have a meal or snack outdoors. Enjoy your favorite book or listen to the deafening silence. Birds abound in the area including many raptors. Bald Eagle, Osprey, Golden Eagle all “fish” the SP waters for their daily meal and we have Great Blue Heron and many hundreds of song birds which call our valley home.
Nearby atrractions: Florrisant Fossil Beds National Monument is 10 minutes away or enjoy chipping for your own fossils at the local business located just outside the park. Cripple Creek is 40 minutes away if gambling suits your fancy or take in an old time melodrama at the Butte Theatre. Mueller State Park is about 20 minutes away. Enjoy hiking, wildlife and the gorgeous scenery. There are several local eateries that have good “home” cooking food should you want to take a break from cooking.
House swapping into warm weather climates over our winters will be considered. Operated under Park County License number 25-0521

This was the perfect getaway for me to do some fly fishing and enjoy being in the mountains. The entire property was very clean and inviting. Eric, the host, was very helpful with information to help me enjoy my time there.
Always a well kept location and every year we have stayed, we see new improvements on the surrounding property. Making reservations again for next year!
We absolutely LOVED our stay. The house was perfect and well equipped with EVERYTHING we needed. We came to hike and fish and this location was perfect for us! Thank you for opening your home to us.
What a wonderful place to stay! The house is well furnished and very comfortable. The views are fantastic, particularly from the deck. There are many places to walk within Sportsman Paradise and fish nearby. Definitely a place to visit again!
We had a wonderful stay at Lake George. The community is beautiful and we went for many walks. The home met all of our needs including a stocked kitchen where we cooked every night.

Thank you for staying with us, we look forward to hosting you in the future!
Beautiful property and very well maintained. Owners are close by and very helpful. Lots of outdoor activities and our grandkids loved looking for fossils
This is my favorite place in the mountains. The home is beautiful, inside and out, and the view off the back patio is incredible. It is well kept with a lot of attention to detail, and all the necessary amenities. The owners are very responsive and helpful. The area offers great fishing and hiking and fantastic relaxing.
A few friends and me stayed at the mountain home while we fly-fished the area. This is a beautiful home, inside and outside. It is well kept and very clean, with a lot of attention to detail, and all the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay. The owner was very responsive and helpful. I will be looking to stay there again in the future.
Excellent location for recreation in South Park. Well equipped accommodations. The views from the front deck were amazing. Eric was an excellent host. Responded quickly to all questions.
We stayed for four nights in this incredible cabin, and I think that all six of us would love to return sometime! The cabin is exquisitely furnished, and the view is outstanding! Our boys loved the fishing down stream, and would’ve been content to fish all day, but we did enjoy some day trips to Cripple Creek and to Canon City. Thank you, Eric and Tara, for a wonderful vacation in your cabin!

Glad you had such a good time and thank you for taking excellent care of our home and leaving it clean!! Your welcomed back anytime!!!
Eric and Tara have a beautiful place - Absolutely one of the best views a home could have, facing up canyon on some of the best Trout waters. The home had plenty of room, is peacefully situated, and we wonderfully decorated. Check in and out were a breeze, and having the owners right down the hill was reassuring and non intrusive. We rarely stay at the same place twice, but this will be an exception. Nice home, nice location, and nice people!
The location is beautiful. Accommodations were great! Owners communicate everything you need to know about the area and the home. Two notes for future renters - cell phones don’t work up there but good wi-fi available. Also house is a up a couple of steep hills. Gorgeous view but may have to walk or drive kids bikes up and down those steep hills.

Our description states,, There is limited cell coverage depending on carrier. Some cell phone plans do not work. We have Tmobile and have no issue. Additionally, as stated there is good wifi so cell phones work as long as you are within a hundred feet of the router. Our granddaughters ages 8 and 6 regularly ride the road to and from the playground on their bicycles and and motor scooters but some kids may need to be driven to the top of the hill. Thank you for staying with us.
Excellent 4 bedroom mountain cabin with picturesque setting in private gated community outside Lake George Colorado. Adequate kitchen and facilities. Very clean and quiet and comfortable. Access to less crowded US forest areas and plenty of spots to fish South Platte river and nearby public areas. Was an excellent spot for four old buddies since grade school to catch up. Owners were so friendly and easy to work with setting arrangements and are nearby if needed.
Our group of four adults stayed for a few days in early May. The location is beautiful and the home was very clean. The home is remote so we cooked every night. The kitchen was fully stocked with all of the necessary amenities. The hosts were very responsive. Guests can't fish directly in the community but there is public water outside the front gate our a couple miles down the private road. We would highly recommend this home.
