About this property

Peaceful retreat in Paddington. 10 mins to Harbour/beaches. Close to it all!

Our beautiful flat in Sydney's Paddington is a peaceful retreat in a small block of four apartments with friendly and respectful neighbours. Our apartment block was built in 1919 as nurses' quarters for a rehabilitation hospital known as "The Scottish Hospital" nearby to aid soldiers returning from WW1 to recover.
We are headed overseas for 5 -6 weeks from late August - mid-October and we offer our apartment fully-furnished to a like-minded person or couple here. With a single bedroom, unfortunately, it is not suitable for a family but infants welcome. Ideally, we seek a short-term tenant looking for a stay of three - five weeks.
We are tucked away in a quiet tree-lined cul de sac. It is in the heart of the city, close to both Sydney Harbour, eastern suburbs' beaches, and transport connections. At home, we enjoy a verdant shared garden, home to abundant birdlife that gives us pleasure.

We are close to:
- major Sydney universities and art schools (UTS, USyd, UNSW Randwick/Kensington/COFA, Notre Dame, National Art School)
- hospitals (St Vincent's, Prince of Wales, Sydney Children's Hospital, Royal Women's, RPA)
- major cultural institutions (Art Gallery of NSW, MCA, Australian Museum, State Library, Sydney Opera House), film production and media studios, theatres (STC, Belvoir, Griffin), and commercial galleries
- Sydney Harbour (>10 minute walk), Eastern Suburbs beaches (Bondi, Clovelly, Tamarama, Coogee etc)
- major parks (Rushcutters Bay, Centennial Park, Moore Park)
- sporting venues (SCG, Allianz Sydney Stadium)
- rail, bus and light rail connections
- restaurants, cafés, shops, cinemas, galleries, parks and the usual conveniences (supermarkets, fishmongers, butchers etc).

Inside, the apartment has:
- a well-appointed kitchen (Bosch dishwasher, gas stove, electric oven, Gaggia espresso machine) ready for entertaining yourself and new friends
- wooden floor boards
- open plan dining/living with expandable dining table (4 - 8 chairs), bookcase, WiFi printer, bluetooth entertainment system (streaming/music), high quality speakers
- welcoming lounge room including modular lounge that turns into comfortable Queen bed to host occasional guests
- one bedroom (Queen bed) with all linens supplied, carpeted, limited storage available for you. You will sleep overlooking the garden
- small and light-filled tiled bathroom including full-sized bath and shower (and a few plants)
- abundant books and art to enjoy
- selected home gym equipment can be left for you as you like (water rowing machine, stationery bike, rebounder, weights).

Other features:
- Shared garden for morning coffee and general navel gazing.
- Utilities (water, electricity, gas, fast Wifi/internet) included.
- Reversible fans and effective heaters to keep you comfortable.
- Screened windows.
- Security doors on front and back doors, and a security system.
- Shared (free) laundry (washer, evaporative dryer, sinks) and outdoor clothesline.
- Retractable indoor clothesline available in apartment if required.

Accessibility: the apartment has limited accessibility. It is upstairs and there is no lift.
Parking: On street parking is available and in demand. Parking permits may be issued by Woollahra Municipal Council for a fee - we will provide support to assist you if this is required.

We will leave you everything you need to live here comfortably and our picks on how to enjoy Sydney.

About the host

Host profile image
I was born close to where I now live, with my partner. We are a creative couple, working in the arts and design fields. Our apartment reflects our life, travels and passions. I know the pleasure of making a home away from home and that is why we are pleased to offer our home to you.

Why they chose this property

To live in Paddington is to have the city at your doorstep coupled with remarkable tranquility. I love the closeness to nature that we enjoy here with old trees, plentiful birdlife, and proximity to parks, reserves and most importantly for me, the waters of Sydney Harbour and the beaches and cliffs of the eastern suburbs. Whether we want to enjoy a great meal, take a walk, or get to Sydney's cultural offerings, it is all so close.

What makes this property unique

With high ceilings and historic appeal, we have made this apartment a colourful, peaceful and beautiful home. We love cooking for, and hosting our friends and family here and I hope you will enjoy making it your home for a while.
