The Space:
Castlemaine Hideout by Tiny Away is located in Castlemaine, just 1 hour and 29 minutes from Melbourne. It's just past the town of Kyneton, which is only 30 minutes from Victoria's unique holiday homes.
This tiny house is nestled in a peaceful bushland setting, overlooking a sparkling, natural stone pond with native trees and abundant birdlife to keep you company. It’s a private retreat, just minutes from Castlemaine’s town centre, cafés, galleries, and the Botanical Gardens.
Nearby attractions include Castlemaine’s oldest and most beautiful homes, like the lovely Pinehill, and the vibrant Castlemaine State Arts Festival held from March 20–29, 2026. If you visit during the King’s Birthday Weekend, don’t miss the lively Castlemaine Jazz Festival.
This cozy 139-square-foot tiny home features large windows with views of the garden and pond, easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette equipped for cooking, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, hand basin, and gas-heated shower.
Guest Access:
Guests can access the tiny home via the front gate and are welcome to swim in the pond. Please note: On some Sunday mornings around 8:30, there is a cold water plunge group.
Please note that this is a no-through road ending at a fire trail, with only three driveways beyond ours—so traffic is minimal and the area remains peaceful.

Just 1 kilometer away, you’ll find the beautiful Botanical Gardens, full of colorful flowers and peaceful spots. Take an easy 10-minute walk to see some of Castlemaine’s oldest and most beautiful homes, like the lovely Pinehill. If you visit during the King’s Birthday Weekend, don’t miss the fun Castlemaine State Arts Festival and the lively Jazz Festival—there’s always something exciting happening nearby.
Getting Around:
By car:
- From Bendigo: Approx. 30 minutes (40 km) north on the Calder Freeway.
- From Daylesford: Approx. 35 minutes (40 km) through scenic countryside.
- From Melbourne: Approx. 1 hour 30 minutes (120 km) via the Calder Freeway (M79).
Additional Info: Castlemaine is well connected by sealed highways and local roads. The property is easily accessible by 2WD vehicles, so a standard car is sufficient—no 4WD required.
By public transport:
- From Melbourne: Take the V/Line train from Southern Cross Station (Melbourne) to Castlemaine on the Bendigo line. The journey takes about 90 minutes. From Castlemaine Station, it’s a short drive or taxi ride to the property.
- Nearest Towns: V/Line trains connect Castlemaine with Bendigo (30 mins) and Kyneton (25 mins). Local buses run to nearby towns, including Maldon and Daylesford.
- Taxi / Rideshare: Castlemaine has a reliable local Goldfields Taxis service. While Uber availability may be limited, taxis and private hire cars operate in the area.
