This property has just what we need when we stay in Eugene. It is clean and cozy, more spacious than staying at a hotel and convenient to places around Eugene and Springfield. The Host did an excellent job in creating this space!
I stayed here with a friend while attending the track and field Olympic trials. The house is very nice, has nice amenities, is located on a safe, quiet street, and is very convenient to the stadium. The immediately surrounding neighborhoods are not as nice, but the house served our needs quite well.
Perfect spot for UO family weekend... ten minutes from our student on campus with easy back-and-forth trips to campus. Lovely accommodations, incredible decor & craftsmanship. Fun to think about the process of building this incredible home! Clean accommodations, well-appointed kitchen with accommodating & communicative hosts. Our only wish would be to have tv/wifi technology upgraded. We would stay here again. Thanks!
Such a great experience. Perfect little home for our week in Eugene. You will definitely need a vehicle to site see. We were able to go on a few hikes, drive to the coast and go to the football game. Kitchen is fully stocked with all appliances to be able to cook at home if needed. We cooked breakfast most days and dinner once. It was wonderful having a full washer/dryer to bring our clothes home clean. The bed was super comfy and a ton of blankets. The neighborhood does not look the best but we did not have one problem. It was so nice to be able to enjoy Eugene and come home to relax. Dutch Bros Coffee is a must while you are in town. If we ever make it to the Eugene again we will absolutely be coming back here.
The owner was a gem to deal with. Communicated throughout the reservation and stay. Nothing was left to chance. The container home was SUPER!. We had everything we needed plus more at the home. Spacious and bright. Clean and they provided everything we needed. Tons of towels and bedding. They even had laundry soap on site so we didn't need to worry about buying any. The complimentary bottle of wine was above and beyond. Can't say enough good about the place. The location for some people might be a problem but once inside you don't even think about it. The very reasonable rate makes up for the location. Would most definitely stay again. Thanks Kevin!

Wonderful to have you and your family Shelly. Come again.
Overall a good value for the time I was there, owner very helpful and responsive. During stay added a small Coleman grill added on the porch which was nice and able to grill a couple of meals. Location convenient and easy to get to other places of interest. Only somewhat daunting thing was finding the place, at a dead end and I started telling people who visited to go to the Shack Shack and then slowly get to the dead end and turn. Other part of the location piece was the multiple trailer parks nearby which I had not expected. Pleasant surprise what that though not air conditioned very comfortable with the cooling/heating system that utilized evaporation. Also enjoyed the sky light over the bathroom, added a lot of sun and made the stay more pleasant. Laundry facilities very efficient and easy to use.

Thanks Rick. Appreciate it. The heating and air conditioning is supplied by a ductless heat pump. Not evaporative cooler. Please correct if you can. Thx.
I had planned this strip early this spring to reconnect with my dear friends in Eugene and Oregon, to go to a football game and allow my wife to meet all these friends I was always talking about. Little did we know that Hurricane Helene would strike our lovely town of Black Mountain in the Asheville, NC area. Nevertheless, after 2 weeks with no power and water, we were able to still make the trip. It was a terrific getaway and the Luxe Box house was perfect for our needs in every way. It was such a joy to have running water, power, Wi-Fi and internet all in a brilliantly set up and appointed container home. It even had laundry which we gratefully used before we left as we still had no water at our home. It was conveniently located for all our needs, quiet and very comfortable. The entrance to the property is a little tricky at the first time in however after that you know what to look. Eugene, U of O, Springfield were all with 10 minutes or less, even during a huge game match-up week. Kevin was very accommodating and extremely communicative regarding any needs we might encounter before arrival. We will certainly stay here again when we come back to Eugene if we need a place of our own to use as home base. Thank you Kevin and Cheryl.

Cool concept house with comfortable features. Within walking distance to a rapid-transit bus line going both toward Springfield and Eugene. Stay here, take the bus to campus, and avoid the hassle of parking!
This was a unique opportunity to stay in a container home. My wife has always wanted one and I thought it would be an excellent surprise for her. She was totally satisfied.
This is my favorite place we have ever stayed. Good amount of room; excellent use of repurposed materials inside and out; nicely done decorating without over doing it; nice amount of space; well stocked functional kitchen; large bathroom; etc. Loved it!
Great place to stay in Eugene. It felt much bigger than 800 sqft and was a great lay out. Comfortable sleeps 4 adults! Kevin was very communicative and made everything easy. Highly recommend.

About the host

Retired, and way to busy . . . but not too busy for you . . .
Why they chose this property
How many people can say they slept in a shipping container -- and loved it? Location is conveniently located between Eugene and Springfield and just minutes from the University of Oregon. The "Glenwood" area is slated for major redevelopment and infrastructure projects are continuing. While the area is mostly lower income now, residents in the area look after each other and are vigilant about potential criminal activity. This home, and the ones next to it that the owner also rehabilitated are an investment in "Glenwood on the Willamette' vision. Loft bed is suitable for two children or one adult. Reservations for 5 persons must include at least 2 children. So, 4 adults or less, 3 adults and 2 or fewer children, 2 adults and 3 or fewer children maximum.
What makes this property unique
For those interested in construction with containers or construction with repurposed materials in general, the owner might be available for a presentation or consultation for a small fee.
