The Space:
Clifton’s Ark House is a thoughtfully designed coastal retreat framed by ocean views on one side and soft grassy hills on the other. Quiet and secluded, it sits among native gardens with private decking — an ideal spot for a morning coffee or an evening wine. Sleeping up to six guests this really is the perfect retreat.
On the lower level, the open-plan living and dining spaces are bright, spacious and welcoming, flowing through to a generous chef-style kitchen equipped for easy cooking and entertaining. A large, atrium-style bathroom sits just off the back deck — perfect for rinsing off sandy feet or peeling off wetsuits after a surf. The laundry is also located on this level for added convenience.
The home stays comfortable year-round with a wood heater and reverse-cycle air-conditioning.
Upstairs features three spacious bedrooms: two with queen beds and ocean views, and a third with two single beds perfect for families, small groups or those needing some space. This level also includes a powder room, plus a desk and a kids’ breakout area for moments of peace or remote work.
Outside, guests can enjoy landscaped gardens, ample parking, and an undercover garage with plenty of room for surfboards, kayaks, and bikes.
Clifton Beach — Hobart’s favourite surf spot — is less than a minute’s walk away, making this the perfect base for beach lovers, surfers, and anyone seeking a peaceful coastal escape.

Neighbourhood Description:
Clifton Beach delivers wide-open ocean, rolling dunes and dramatic cliffs. It’s Hobart’s closest surf beach and part of a protected conservation reserve. Coastrider Surf Academy offers lessons and board hire, and the Cape Deslacs circuit at the northern end rewards walkers with sweeping views to Bruny Island, Frederick Henry Bay and across the dunes to Pipe Clay Lagoon.
Set on the South Arm Peninsula, Clifton is just 25 minutes from Hobart and 20 minutes from the airport, giving you easy access to beaches, bays and quiet fishing spots. The peninsula is full of sheltered swimming areas and shallow stretches ideal for wandering, paddling or casting a line. Take a picnic and spend the day exploring.
Grab fresh produce and local treats from Hill Street Grocer in nearby Lauderdale on your way in — they’ve got everything covered. A basic pantry is also provided, including teas, salt, pepper and olive oil.
The neighbourhood is relaxed and welcoming, with the surf club opening on Friday nights for casual drinks and dinner.
Getting Around:
It is best to have your own vehicle when getting to Clifton as you'll need one to explore the area in depth.
House Rules:
Please note, whilst this house is listed as suitable for infants and children, there is a staircase and fireplace without restraining barriers.
If additional cleaning is required above and beyond what the guest has paid for at the time of
booking, this extra cost will be passed on to the guest to cover. Additional costs can be easily
avoided by leaving the property in a neat and tidy state and following the check out instructions.
Please note if extra beds are used outside what is required for your group an extra guest fee will be
requested for your stay.
In the event of a lockout which due to the loss or misplacement of the primary key or user error, this
fee will be your responsibility to pay.
Please note that when booking and paying by card, a small fee will appear on your statement as a “ReslyPay” charge. This fee is set by the booking platform and is not controlled by us. Thank you for your understanding.
