Some comments from our guests: '...But the best things were the walks along the logging roads, beaver ponds, flowers starting to bloom, and the peace and tranquility of the backwoods.' Ralph, Nancy, Tucker, Keisee and Marlie, from Novelty, Ohio 'Our drive was 5.5 hours, but it was worth it. We are sad to leave this hideaway to return to the stress of the city.' Amy and Pete from New York City 'We wanted to renew our friendships, enjoy nature, and escape the hustle and bustle of life. We wanted to laugh and talk late into the night. Here at Cedarwood, it all happened.' Barb, Ruth, and Diane from Evans City, PA 'We enjoyed three of the best days of our lives here! This is an absolutely wonderful place.' Chuck and Lori - newlyweds

The cabin was so cozy and the perfect setting for our family to gather for Thanksgiving! We love how close it is to State Parks and feels so secluded and Peggy's bread and muffins were so delicious! We're so grateful for the memories we made at Cedarwood Lodge!
Everything was very clean, peaceful, and relaxing. The driveway was quite rough but had a great stay. Communication with Peggy (host) was very good. Attractions were nearby and fun.
We simply loved our 3-night's stay at this secluded house set nicely back into a wooded area. The inside was immaculate, extremely comfortable and was equipped with everything we needed including wi-fi. The outside had a fire pit that we used as well as a large propane grill located in the comfortable screened in deck. The privacy was appreciated, and our two dogs loved the property! Everything was excellent! Our thanks to the wonderful owner!
Cozy place in the woods perfect for our family getaway. Would highly recommend!

Hearing that your family getaway was a success brings back memories of wintertime at the cabin. Watching the snow fall silently in the forest while cozied up inside by the wood stove! Ah...heaven! Thank you for reviewing your stay. I hope to host your family again if a another trip to the PA Wilds is in your future. All the best - Peggy
The accommodations were fantastic much better than we expected it gave us the feel of being out in the wilderness Which is what the six of us really love I would recommend it to anybody
The cabin felt secluded but still near enough to town to easily get supplies. The only thing I wish we had was wifi, but other than that everything was perfect!

Dear Jacob - You have zeroed in on a major reason why we bought the cabin. We loved the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere but also loved the easy accessibility to civilization and shopping! The 8 acres are surrounded by forest but just 2/10ths of a mile down a unpaved lane off a PA State Route and just 4 miles north of a PA I-80 exit. Internet is currently available only on guest cell phones or devices with data. Many guests appreciate tuning out the outside world for a few days but for those that must access the internet during their stay, there is free WiFi available at the mini-mart in Penfield, PA a few miles away.
I'm glad you found everything else perfect! Thank you for coming and for submitting a review of your stay. We would love to host you again if your travels bring you to the PA Wilds in the future.
Best regards, Peggy
This property was exactly what we were looking for our winter weekend trip to see the elk. We had some beautiful snow while we were there, and the wood burning stove in the cabin was absolutely amazing. Peggy was very responsive to all my questions, and even provided us with homemade bread and treats!

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Cedarwood Lodge in the heart of the Moshannon State Forest....all part of the PA Wilds. The region is becoming a "must-see" for folks wanting to get away from it all. The elk herd has allowed a glimpse into wildlife that formerly people had to visit Yellowstone National Park to experience. The cabin is 2 miles from Parker Dam and S.B. Elliot State Parks and a scenic 20 mile drive along the Elk Scenic Route to the Elk Visitor's Center. Certainly there is something in every season for those who love getting out in the great outdoors. Thank you for staying at Cedarwood Lodge. Please come back again - we would love to have you!

Thanks for taking time to review your stay at Cedarwood Lodge. We were happy to provide a place for your family to visit the "old homestead". I hope you will return if your travels bring you this way again.
This was a lovely cabin that perfectly met our needs. It is secluded and near tons of beautiful hiking. We were so lucky to (accidentally) book around peak foliage in PA making the stay exceptionally beautiful!

The lane to the cabin was flanked by Appalachia. The rural 8 acres was a breath away from the highway. The traffic was near, and the trucks used the Jake brakes. Inside the water purifier system was very loud in the bedroom, the bowl of a double bed mattress needs to be replaced. Be careful using the water... one gallon an hour. Other than the sleepless nights, the surrounding area is really beautiful . State Parks.
Lots of beautiful country nearby. Parker Dam was a favorite.

In addition to Cedarwood Lodge, I have a bed and breakfast in the town of Clearfield. When baking for breakfasts there, I always try to make enough to share with our cabin visitors. I'm glad you enjoyed the homemade bread, muffins and cookies. I hope you will return someday. Thank you for reviewing your stay - satisfied guests are the best reward! Best to you - Peggy
