Greytown Cottage is the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway.
Greytown Cottage is a beautifully finished one-bedroom home, complemented by a separate one-bedroom cabin located 10 metres away under a wonderful old Totara Tree. Completed in October 2025, it sits within its own private, landscaped setting with a dedicated entrance, well away from our main house. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed to offer privacy, comfort and inviting outdoor spaces you can enjoy in any season.
The cottage is fully equipped for a relaxing getaway for two, with the added flexibility to welcome extra guests. Whether that’s a couple in the separate cabin with its queen-size bed or on the Ecosa sofa bed in the lounge.
Unwind under the stars in the outdoor bath, savour breakfast in your sheltered garden, or cosy up by the log fire.
At Greytown Cottage, every element has been considered to create a peaceful, private retreat where you can slow down, switch off, and truly relax.
Cottage bedroom
The cottage bedroom has a super comfortable king size bed (linen provided) with a skylight above. You’ll also find generous storage, thoughtful bedside lighting and plenty of extra bedding. There are views to the garden and access to a private deck and outdoor bath where you can lie back and enjoy the amazing night sky.
Bathroom
The separate bathroom includes a modern shower, basin, toilet and open shelving for your belongings. We provide shampoo, conditioner, soap and body wash for your stay.
Kitchen, Dining & Living
The open-plan kitchen is fully equipped with everything you’ll need: quality crockery, wine/beer/champagne glasses, cutlery, chopping boards, serving dishes, expresso machine, coffee plunger and pantry staples such as spices and cooking oil. Guests are welcomed with a small breakfast basket.
When the weather turns cooler, you can create instant coziness with the log burner or heat pump. The living area includes a smart TV with free Wi-Fi, Chromecast, and a soundbar, plus a selection of games, books, and magazines for slow afternoons. The sofa can double up as a very comfortable bed for extra guests or children if needed.
The Cabin
The cabin sits beneath a beautiful old tōtara tree and offers a warm, cosy retreat for additional guests. It features a very comfortable queen-size bed and its own private deck opening onto a small lawn. The cabin shares bathroom facilities with the main cottage.
Please note: if your booking is for two guests but you’d like to use the Cabin bed as well, just let us know. An additional $50 linen fee applies, and we’ll adjust the booking price accordingly after your reservation is confirmed.

About the host
Hosted by Shelly O'Neill
We’re Paul and Shelly, Greytown locals since 2006. We swapped city life in Wellington for wide skies, fresh air and all the outdoor goodness the Wairarapa serves and we’ve never looked back. These days we share our little slice of paradise with two enthusiastic Border Collies and a cat called Colin. We love hosting people who want to soak up Greytown’s charm and explore everything this amazing region has to offer.
Why they chose this property
Greytown Cottage is located on the outskirts of the lovely historic Greytown village.
